88. The Grim Reaper’s Shadow
Not long ago, considering various circumstances, Reina had planned to go to the theocratic nation.
Mainly to go with the Saintess to see the Pope, to let that damned father see his real mother up close… of course, without him knowing her identity.
Jokes aside, Reina wanted to understand all the variables and uncontrollable factors in the current world, including the Pope.
The family of three set off. Of course, they didn’t need any transportation, just had to trouble Miss Dragon King.
But just as they were about to leave, Azure Dragon bumped into Reina and reported about the arena in Whitesburg… the decisive battle between the Beast King and Liya.
And that’s how the previous scene came to be.
Ajin told Reina everything he had seen.
“Little Cal, don’t talk!”
She pulled Calysia back, preventing her from getting any closer to the loving couple.
Calysia truly understood the dragon race’s concept of love. She was even a pervert who would turn her wife into a puppet at any time… no, rather than a pervert, it was more like she was psychologically twisted!
Of course, she understood Calysia’s state.
After transmigrating hundreds of times, it was a miracle she hadn’t gone mad.
“Doesn’t the Dragon King’s love for Reina come from the heart?” the Saintess Agnes asked, looking at the two with curious eyes.
“Mmph…” Reina was speechless for a moment.
Faced with the family of three… the two lovers and the Saintess’s flirting, Ajin could only smile awkwardly and step aside.
And he had been observing the Saintess, discovering that the Saintess was timidly hiding behind the Dragon King and Dragon Queen. Rather than a superior and subordinate of the God Slaying Society, she looked more like a daughter.
He felt again that this was far from the world he understood.
In the distance, White Miry had positioned Liya. She walked straight to the arena, pointed at the Beast King, and said something that made everyone present gasp in astonishment.
“Leader of the beastmen, I challenge you to a duel.”
Reina frowned slightly.
Although she didn’t know if she had overlooked something, the current White Miry indeed gave off an extremely cold feeling, a coldness that could even seep into one’s bones, colder than this early winter.
Kritz was greatly surprised. He could also feel the “coldness” from White Miry, but at the same time, he also tasted a hint of killing intent, his lips curling into a smile as he laughed loudly:
“Hahaha, are you joining our carnival too?”
“Yes, please don’t hold back.”
White Miry was about to attack. She was well aware of the orcs’ ferocity and love for battle. It was feasible to attack at any time. And undoubtedly, her attack was quickly neutralized by the Beast King’s palm. Facing White Miry, who was only less than level 95, his resistance was even easier.
Ajin quickly ran back to Reina’s side.
“Dragon King, Dragon Queen, with all due respect, if we don’t stop White Scale, I’m afraid a great mistake will be made.”
“Fighting without an appointment is also against the orcs’ rules, but this battle has no suspense. If she insists on fighting, White Scale might be in danger.”
“Why?” Calysia asked.
“This is White Scale’s own choice.”
Seeing that the Dragon King was not responding, Ajin helplessly looked at Reina.
And Reina was currently activating the [Eye of Light].
After a period of practice, Reina could already suppress the Eye of Light within a controllable range. Activating it once could give her a wide field of vision for about 1 minute, allowing her to see most things clearly.
White Miry was “wrestling” with the Beast King, summoning a white skeleton and a bone wall to block the Beast King’s punches. The opponent’s savage speed made the already difficult summoning even worse. The gap between the Four Kings of the Realms and an ordinary Demon Moon was evident. Summoning undead and the dead was meaningless in a battle of this level. One-on-one combat was not her forte.
Her appearance was clearly that of a “necromancer army” for large-scale battles.
This battle seemed to have no suspense.
…or did it?
Reina felt that something was amiss.
When the Beast King’s fist was about to break through all the summoned “bone walls” and hit White Miry’s main body, the latter actually showed a cunning and triumphant smile, which was clearly visible in Reina’s wide field of vision.
“The consequences of hurting Liya…”
The Beast King, after passing through the dense skeleton, found White Miry, who was surrounded by a large number of bones, and suddenly felt a chill. He wanted to dodge the next attack, but his body had already rushed forward due to inertia.
Suddenly, a huge figure appeared in front of White Miry. Besides her pale, phantom-like legs and smooth chin, she was completely hidden in a black cloak, but one could still see the girl’s physical characteristics. She held a huge bone scythe, giving off an ethereal, holy feeling.
This was clearly the image of the Grim Reaper.
“[Fierce Tiger]!”
With a wild cry, the Beast King’s brother, Kribi, suddenly sensed danger. His entire body erupted with a powerful aura, and he transformed into a cannonball, streaking across the training grounds from the spectator seats, rushing to the dueling arena, and arriving at the scene before the Beast King Kritz and Miss Grim Reaper could clash. Instantly, he used the back of his broadsword to push Kribi away.
And the next second, White Miry, transformed into the “Grim Reaper,” spun her scythe. The ghostly blue flame and lightning collided, and just then, the Beast King Kritz had a chance to dodge. When the dazzling white light faded, everyone present, including Reina, couldn’t believe the scene before them.
The Kribi brothers were panting heavily. Between the two of them was a huge gash opened by the scythe, bottomless…
“Are you kidding me??”
Suddenly, Ajin chuckled.
Reina was also stunned.
Looking along the gash into the distance, she saw a training plaza that had been completely burned by the ghostly blue flames… if that could even be called a plaza anymore. The entire surface of the training grounds had disappeared as if scooped out like a cake, replaced by the earth below, with black smoke rising. The danger of taking that hit head-on was self-evident.
And outside the training grounds, a few high-rise buildings and two streets in a still-under-construction deserted city were like they had been bombed, transformed into a terrifying scorched earth. For a moment, the world seemed to be occupied by that ghostly blue flame.
“[Protective Barrier]!”
At the critical moment, if it weren’t for the Shaman Colossus in the red cloak summoning a defense, a large number of the spectating beastmen would have been completely annihilated by this attack, their souls scattered.
Yes.
Was this White Miry’s true strength?
Reina took a deep breath, not knowing what to say.
For a moment, she understood what Liya had said.
Their gap was too large.
And if she wasn’t mistaken…
Reina’s gaze was fixed on the Grim Reaper-like White Miry.
Legend had it that the undead kingdom had almost created another religion besides the Church of Light, the Church of the God of Death… And the only threshold for them to worship the God of Death was “death.”
