Escaping Corruption: I’m Not the Dragon King’s Little Darling Wife! v2c95

95. Handcuffs

“My performance… was it very bad?”

Calysia continued to reflect.

Does she still remember what I said… and the promise I made?

For a moment, Reina didn’t know how to respond.

From the current situation, was Calysia at fault?

Objectively, she had indeed disrupted her plans, but the main reason was that person, Paris.

Reina herself was also at fault.

As her wife, to stand against Calysia…

As expected, I was too much.

“Little Cal, it’s okay. It’s just that on the surface, our relationship might seem a little strained…”

She wanted to say that in the future, she would definitely give up on humanity for Calysia’s happy ending. She really wanted to say that even for Agnes, she should atone for what she had done today.

Unconsciously, Reina once again chose to compromise.

“Don’t go too far. Master can do whatever she wants.”

“Really?”

Calysia sounded like she had heard the happiest news ever.

She shifted her body.

Just as Reina thought she was about to be hugged tightly like a small steamed bun, and her scent savored, Calysia’s one hand magically conjured a pair of purple magic handcuffs and put them on Reina.

Only then did Calysia nod in satisfaction.

Holding the chain connected to Reina’s wrist, she walked towards the exit.

“Eh…?”

“What’s going on?”

Reina felt like she had given up something.

—Wasn’t she being treated like the Dragon King’s prisoner?

She had just been grateful for Calysia’s sincerity… and the next second, she was handcuffed.

Damn it, was this Calysia’s scheme?!

If force doesn’t work, try gentleness. Does this person really think I’m someone who will soften?

What made Reina even angrier was that this trick was really effective.

Moreover, Calysia’s feelings were also genuine, not deceptive.

So much so that Reina didn’t know if it was her own paranoia, or if Calysia really intended it!

Just then, she suddenly remembered what White Miry had said about [substitutes].

Since she couldn’t find the answer, had she already transformed a part of herself into a substitute?

Reina felt she couldn’t find the answer to the problem.

Calysia’s face was filled with a clear smile.

Fortunately, the large number of Holy Knights and priests in the church had already left.

The only ones left on the scene, besides the succubus priestesses, were Pesa, who was being questioned by Liya and Agnes.

Reina couldn’t sense the aura of any other Holy Knights.

Only Pesa, a human, was still on the scene.

The others, such as Paris, were preparing the treasures that were originally to be offered to the Goddess of Light.

Although she hadn’t said in front of the Dragon King that the God of Light was the protector of humanity and absolutely had to be protected, her words and actions undoubtedly reflected this.

What a straightforward and impulsive person.

“That’s how it is, Your Majesties, the Dragon King and Dragon Queen.”

Ann said with a smile. When there were no humans around, her pupils would always revert to the demonic dark gold.

Then, she said with a mischievous smile:

“You being blindfolded and handcuffed is really thought-provoking, like a poor young lady who had to submit to the Dragon King to repay some debt~”

Reina was furious.

“You don’t understand!”

“Hee hee~”

After bidding farewell to Ann in a huff, Reina found Pesa.

Beside her were Liya and Agnes.

They had already been talking to this person who could provide information about the Pope.

Seeing the Goddess of Light, the cowardice in Pesa’s eyes became even more obvious.

Especially when she noticed Reina’s handcuffs and Calysia standing beside her.

“G… Goddess?!”

“You… you guys?”

“Don’t worry about the details.”

Reina pretended to cough.

In front of humans, she still had to maintain a basic level of authority.

“Miss Hero, the reason I and the God Slaying Society are looking for you is the same. We all want to see the Pope. As the leader of humanity, why would he fake his death and retreat behind the scenes?”

Pesa’s eyes darted around.

“Actually, I didn’t want to either, but… I don’t want to lie in front of the God of Light.”

“That, the Pope said he doesn’t want to see anyone, nor does he want to have any contact with this world…”

“He lives alone and has no other contact!”

Reina couldn’t help but laugh.

So, she was supposed to keep this a secret?

Was it really okay to just blurt out the Pope’s location like this?

No…

The Pope’s motive was also quite strange.

Since he didn’t want to expose his identity, why did he let this poor little girl, or rather, the hero he personally appointed, come to find her?

Just then, Liya nodded and stepped forward, not giving Pesa any chance to refuse:

“Then we’ll set off in an hour. You lead the way, is that okay?”

“…Mmph.”

“Don’t worry,” Liya patted her katana, her smile terrifying. “Our God Slaying Society is thinking about the whole world. You wouldn’t want the world to be destroyed by the Shadow of God, would you?”

Pesa nodded. She didn’t want to be killed by a fake God of Light and watch humanity and the whole world fall.

She nodded in agreement.

After giving her instructions, Calysia, the President’s assistant of the God Slaying Society, confirmed the final candidates for the search for the Pope:

“Bishop Lei, White Scale, Shining Scale, Ann, the Saintess, and Pesa.”

…

An hour later.

A flying carriage, a creation of dark elf technology, glided through the air.

Five winged white horses pulled a luxurious carriage that was like an island. Of course, what was even more eye-catching was the wing-like structure on both sides of the carriage.

Previously, Reina had used a flying carriage to “inspect” the beastmen tribe, but that was at best an informal means of transportation.

And the carriage before her was a luxury that only dark elf nobles could enjoy, one that could even operate in the air. As the President of the God Slaying Society, Calysia had managed to obtain such a counter-intuitive carriage.

Besides Calysia, everyone else was amazed.

Just like the airplanes in a certain world, the carriage needed to glide for a certain distance.

Then, the white horses would flap their wings with all their might, the magic stones would start to operate, and the carriage would levitate.

Thanks to dwarven technology, the carriage was miraculously not bumpy and didn’t tilt, as stable as being on the ground.

Although taking a carriage seemed a bit superfluous, the dragon race wouldn’t allow unfamiliar passengers on their backs. And besides, a few dragons circling in the human world’s sky would definitely cause considerable panic.

Especially a dragon of Calysia’s level.

The carriage even flew above the clouds.

Leaning against the window, quietly feeling the weight of her handcuffs, unfortunately, she couldn’t see the white clouds below.

Just then, Pesa, sitting in the corner, broke the silence.

She walked up to Agnes, blushing, and handed her a pen and a holy scripture.

“That, Miss Agnes, actually I… I want your autograph!”

“Mmph?”

“The one I admire most is a great and holy girl like you!”

“Then shouldn’t you admire the Goddess more?” Agnes found it amusing.

“That… is something I can’t become…”

“Hehehe~”

Agnes took the pen, and her elegant, practiced handwriting, honed dozens of times, appeared on the paper.
