15. A Distant Road
“The gods are dead.”
She repeated, with a smile.
“This sentence has given me a lot of inspiration.”
“Actually, I was thinking, why are humans inferior to demons? Why did they become so weak under the offensive of the Four Realms and end up in a complete mess?”
“It’s all because of the gods. Our faith determines that the church is the core of the world, and the true gods have also turned the church into an empty shell.”
“I discovered that, in fact, this is the tragedy of humanity.”
“We shouldn’t believe in gods, but rely on our own hands to reach the peak, step by step. This is the way of survival for humanity.”
Reina froze.
The flower in the greenhouse had finally faced the storm. Although the final answer was riddled with holes, what was left was also the bloodiness precipitated by history.
—These were the words that appeared in her mind.
“Humanity doesn’t need gods.”
“We need a king to lead us, not a Pope.”
For a moment, Reina somewhat understood why she would become her enemy.
Even at only level 35, she dared to face me, dared to face a god.
“Why don’t you want gods to exist?”
A single sentence made Reina feel as if someone were swinging a sword with their words in the air.
Turning her head, she discovered that it was Pesa.
“Miss Pesa.”
Elena’s voice was very soft, as if she were trying to switch from her gentle tone to a cold one, but she also wanted to make a good impression in front of Reina… Bud, which made her voice sound a little distorted.
“I am willing to support your idea, because you are a worshipper of the Goddess of Light. I admit that my views have offended you. In other words, our ideals do not conflict.”
Pesa originally wanted to refute something, but her face suddenly darkened. She turned her head to look at Reina and said in a slightly questioning tone:
“Are you Bud?”
“Yes.”
“You also support the decision that the gods are dead. So, were those ideas spread by you?”
She was a little listless, but that look was like saying, “As long as you admit it, I will be your enemy forever.” It was clear that she had a paranoid hatred for the existence that had “killed” the gods.
This was a matter of life and death.
“Pesa, please don’t be so rude to Teacher Bud. I know your strength is very strong… but no matter what, she is just a writer who spreads peace.”
“Damn it…”
Pesa lowered her head. She placed her hand on the sword at her waist and trembled slightly: “I’m warning you again, Miss Elena. I recognize your charisma and influence, but I’m just here to monitor you.”
The scene was in chaos for a moment. Celes burrowed into Reina’s arms and let out a soft whimper:
“Mmph.”
Could it be that she’s not a dummy? It seems…
Just as the two were at loggerheads, Reina gathered light magic in one hand… a ball of black magic. The current her could no longer cast golden magic. So she could only change the color of the magic particles to turn it into gold.
The gold turned into a flower of light magic. Reina secretly tucked it into a semi-finished “book” she had just printed and stuffed it into Pesa’s hands.
“Miss Pesa, I hope you can accept this book.”
At least, when she saw the golden flower in the book, she would know that the light had not disappeared… This meant that the Goddess of Light still existed.
“Do I have to listen to your clichés too? I’m sorry, I’m not interested,” Pesa said, her voice cold.
“I hope you can read on.”
“Don’t order me…”
“Trust me, okay?”
Reina remained calm.
Pesa originally wanted to refuse, but after seeing Reina’s eyes, she was momentarily dazed. It seemed that she had found some unforgettable and long-lost resonance in them. She said in a low voice:
“Then I’ll trust you this once.”
“Thank you.”
“Because you and that person have similar eyes.”
Saying that, Pesa walked out the door. It seemed that she had to leave with Elena, so she found a remote corner again, rested her head on her hands, and stared blankly at the three-dimensional elven city hundreds of meters below.
Elena also sighed.
“Because of the news of the goddess’s death, many people have lost hope. Pesa is a representative of this kind of person. I hope I can find a better way to save these people.”
“By the way, Teacher Bud, would you be willing to listen to my views and opinions on your book…?”
Reina let out a long sigh.
As expected…
What was to come would come.
But compared to those elves, Elena clearly had emotional intelligence.
She understood that Reina was in a hurry to leave, so she just asked a few of her most important questions and then said goodbye.
The whole process took no more than 3 minutes.
Before leaving, Isabella found Reina again.
“Miss Elena is a good person, isn’t she!”
Reina nodded, noncommittally.
“Do you know why I want to be the Elven King… I think the current dark elves need other salvation, not to follow the rules, otherwise it will only breed a second Tris.”
“Why do you think so?”
“My mother once followed Tris to the Goddess’s ruins and was never heard from again. You may know about this. It’s said that she was killed by the past Shadow of God, but not even a corpse was left.”
Isabella seemed to have opened up.
“A corpse?”
“It’s nothing, Celes,” Reina patted the little dragon’s head, held her to her chest, and covered her ears. She hoped the little dragon wouldn’t be exposed to the cruelty of the world now… Fortunately, she would often stop thinking halfway through if she couldn’t figure it out.
“Yes, actually, I know that Tris was for her own obsession, and she took my mother with her to be buried… I hate her very much.”
“You must be very sad.”
“Now, it’s not so bad,” Isabella said with a wry smile. “If only I had half of Mura’s courage.”
In the distance, on the floating carriage, Elena waved, and Isabella nodded in response, saying goodbye to Reina.
After everyone had left, only the villa was left hanging on the branches.
“Reina, are you going to let this kind of person exist?”
Calysia yawned:
“She’s a woman who wants to conquer the whole world with her ideas. I think it’s better to deal with her quickly to avoid future trouble. It’s fine to hand her over to Ann.”
Reina smiled, patted Celes’s small head, and thought about how to compensate her. After all, she had suddenly encountered many things that only adult dragons would come into contact with.
“Purr, purr~”
Fortunately, Celes didn’t seem to care. Her heart was also stronger than Reina had imagined.
“Dummy Mommy.”
“Let’s just wait and see for now. I don’t intend to rule with the word [god] anymore, because the so-called [god] is imperfect,” Reina thought for 20 seconds before responding to Calysia’s words.
“So, have you found the answer to the [Truth Formula]?”
Seeing the gradually departing fairy carriage, and Pesa’s back in the window, she shook her head.
“I seem to have touched upon a little, but I’m still far from it.”
“I hope I can find the answer I want within a hundred years.”
