36. Defined as the Weak
“Elena has disappeared.”
In late December, while Reina was writing the second part of the “Dragon Mother’s Guide,” Little Cal walked into the bedchamber and said so.
Glancing at the loli little dragon sleeping in her arms, Reina quickly summoned a clone and went to the theocratic nation with Calysia.
Although it was called a theocratic nation, the church here had basically been “hollowed out” by Elena’s forces.
Flying to the sky of the theocratic nation, around Whitesburg, crowds of people holding signs continuously emerged.
They were half-orcs and humans, and some elves, leaning against the fence and shouting towards Whitesburg’s territory, as if in protest. If it weren’t for the obstruction of some Holy Knights and the God Slaying Society’s orcs, these people would have eagerly rushed into the God Slaying Society to save their Miss Elena.
But what did Elena have to do with the God Slaying Society? Reina, as the President of the God Slaying Society, was completely unaware of this.
“Give Elena back to us, you hypocrites!”
“Only Elena can give us half-orcs the right to live!”
“The world should belong to Elena!”
In just half a year, her sphere of influence had expanded to this exaggerated extent.
However, she still couldn’t understand how she had done it.
When Reina landed on Whitesburg, two giant dragons appeared in their true form, and all the protesters were terrified, speechless. This was a fear from their biological instincts.
After everyone had left, Reina and Calysia both transformed back into their half-dragon forms, and the people of the God Slaying Society gathered around.
Looking closely, it was actually the Werewolf King Albert.
“You’re finally here, President! These people are crazy! They’re all chanting about Elena.”
“Did you capture Elena?” Calysia asked.
“No, how could we act on our own? And besides, that Elena is guarded all day. We don’t have a chance.”
Reina was also a little surprised.
She thought that everything was under her control now.
The only one who could do this kind of thing behind her back was probably a member of the God Slaying Society, who had taken advantage of her inattention. Elena was a person of special concern to her, but Reina hadn’t killed her so quickly.
If some people in the God Slaying Society had acted, it was also possible.
“It’s indeed one of our own,” Reina concluded.
“Let me check for you, President.”
“No need to be so troublesome.”
Reina smiled and shook her head.
[Eye of Light]
Two inverted crosses instantly appeared in her eyes. Those were the pupils of the current Goddess of Light, long since fallen due to vassalization.
Her ability and effect were even stronger than before.
Instantly, countless pieces of information flooded Reina’s mind.
Level 98 Light, Level 99 Dragon Mark.
Three levels left, but it was enough.
She could see everything within a few hundred kilometers. She just needed to activate it for an instant to find it. Although it couldn’t last for long, she could do it.
Closing her eyes, and then opening them again, Reina looked in a certain direction of Whitesburg, and then she looked northwest, to the orcish territory.
—Elena was actually in the orc kingdom now. What was going on?
She and Calysia arrived at the corresponding location ten minutes later. If she wanted to, she could do it in an instant, through her authority.
To avoid being seen, Reina gave up on using her divine power so quickly.
The orc kingdom, under Reina’s dispatch and organization, although not prosperous and well-fed, now didn’t need to rely on plunder to survive. It was one of Reina’s more successful adjustments. Therefore, a large portion of these seemingly rude orcs were her supporters.
It was said that among the beastmen, only the orc race had no supporters of Elena. On the one hand, it was the hostile relationship between the two races, and on the other hand, it was the influence of the President of the God Slaying Society.
However,
Reina couldn’t imagine that they would be so fanatical as to directly attack Elena.
And they even succeeded…
Seeing the two Dragon Kings, the orcs weren’t very excited. This was because of Calysia’s illusion—in everyone’s eyes, they were just normal dragons, and they would absolutely not think that they were the Dragon King and Dragon Queen, or anyone related to them.
Walking to a more remote corner, in a small alley where no orcs were watching, a young woman in a cloak emerged.
“Pesa.”
Reina directly said her name.
The young woman took off her hat, revealing her cute brown hair, and said with her head lowered:
“I’m sorry…”
“Elena is in the room. Follow me.”
She guided the two, walking to the depths of the alley and opening a wooden door.
Under the candlelight, on a white bed, a young woman was panting heavily.
It was Elena.
Her face was pale, her eyes wide and vacant.
The air was filled with the pungent smell of blood.
Looking closer, Elena seemed to have lost consciousness, her breath hanging by a thread.
“Pant, pant…”
“Her condition is very dangerous. If left alone, she will die in a few days,” Calysia said.
Reina walked closer and discovered that Elena’s right side was covered in blood.
As a weak person, these injuries were enough to kill her.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t… protect her.”
Pesa said with shame.
“It’s not your fault, because you obeyed the order, right?”
Pesa nodded.
The order Reina had given her was a bit contradictory.
Pesa was not allowed to obstruct any of the God Slaying Society’s actions. This was to make her give way.
And Pesa also needed to protect Elena’s safety.
Therefore, the current situation occurred.
Just before she was about to be completely killed, she had protected Elena from harm.
“Was it Kribi’s subordinates who did it?”
Reina used the Eye of Light again and saw.
Even Elena’s short and tragic life.
She had grown up in an orphanage, had no talent for magic, and because she was good at talking, she had many friends.
In the magic academy, her grades were not outstanding. Before the world was demonified, she had always been mediocre, until she survived, until she saw Reina’s book.
This was being defined as the weak.
Even her entire life could be seen through so easily.
Just with a glance from the Eye of Light.
“Yes, Goddess. I didn’t stop them. I used my divine power to avoid a fatal wound, and then, before she was burned as a corpse, I secretly brought her out,” Pesa said truthfully. “But I’m hesitating now, whether to let her die or live.”
“I’ll hold Kribi accountable. He acted without permission. This is a dereliction of duty.”
Reina said.
“She is my enemy. The consequence of opposing me is death.”
Pesa nodded. She looked at the young woman lying on the white bed with a look of pity and said:
“Let me send her off. At least I can end her pain.”
But what Pesa didn’t expect was that Reina actually extended her hand, held Elena’s pale wrist, and with a look in her eyes, Calysia also took out a wet towel and placed it on Elena’s forehead, using gravity magic to dry the blood on her body.
A stream of azure magic power flowed from her wrist into Elena’s delicate body. The young woman’s lips finally regained a hint of color, and she stopped twitching, becoming peaceful.
“Teacher… Bud…”
