Chapter 11: Moon Hunt Dog

Lu Nan slanted a glance at her and leisurely watched the clock hands turn.

The person beside her hunched over slightly. She touched her sunken eyeball and sized up Lu Nan with her remaining eye.

Seeing that Lu Nan made no other moves and simply sat there spacing out.

Six easily broke free from her restraints. Her brows arched slightly as she looked at the woman with a provocative glint.

“I’m really starting to like you more and more.”

Her gaze burned like a torch, as if she were the mastermind behind the final act of a game, with everything under her control and victory assured.

“This rope can’t hold me, Sis. Try a different method.”

Lu Nan seemed to only just notice that she’d undone the bindings. She tilted her head for a glance before turning back to stare at the clock.

She shrugged expressionlessly and said helplessly, “Well, what now? We’re out of rope.”

Her tone held none of the surprise Six had anticipated.

Instead, it felt like a superior toying with her prey, like teasing a cat.

But Six didn’t care about any of that. Whether teased as a cat or a dog, she simply yearned from the depths of her heart to possess Lu Nan.

“How about you become my dog, and I’ll let you go?”

Six watched her, her eyes flickering with anticipation and excitement.

Lu Nan shook her head, not even bothering to look, and said earnestly, “No can do.”

“Then go die!”

Six was about to lose it. What kind of person was this?

A lunatic.

Six swiftly drew a delicate little knife from her bosom. She spun it once, and like magic, two blades appeared in her hands. She thrust them viciously at Lu Nan’s face from front and back, at blinding speed.

She wanted to destroy Lu Nan’s eyes—just as Lu Nan had done to her. An eye for an eye; wasn’t that what humans prized most?

Lu Nan grabbed an idle wooden plank from the table to block the fierce assault. She bent her knees with the momentum, ducked her head to evade, and slid toward the floor.

The sharp blades scored the wood with a buzz, leaving a massive gash.

“I didn’t expect Sis to be so formidable.” Six still had the leisure to compliment her. “As expected of the one I’ve set my sights on.”

Lu Nan smiled and flung the now-bisected plank at Six. “Thanks for the praise.”

Six flipped away to dodge the plank and hid her knife behind her back.

The clock ticked with a beep, starkly clear amid the tense standoff. Lu Nan set the time back by one minute.

She needed to wrap this up quickly; time was running out.

She fished the scavenged stun gun from her pocket, thought for a moment, and tucked it away again—for later use.

Six had no time for such games. Her eyes burned, twitching painfully with every movement. She didn’t have the luxury to play around with Lu Nan anymore.

She just wanted to kill her, and the sooner, the better.

Dying by her hand would be Lu Nan’s honor.

Six’s mind raced. She grabbed the soil from under a potted plant and flung it at Lu Nan.

In the instant Lu Nan closed her eyes to shield herself, Six hurled the knife straight at her. It sank into her arm with a thud.

Lu Nan wasn’t fazed at all. The knife remained embedded straight in her arm as she grabbed Six’s injured left eye and stomped on her foot.

A simple, brutal move.

Six cried out in pain as Lu Nan pinned her to the ground.

Lu Nan’s brows furrowed tightly. She deftly yanked out the knife.

It hurt! Hurt like hell!

She glared irritably at the blade, tossed it to the floor, yanked several tissues from the box on the table, and pressed them to the wound.

Red bloomed across the white paper. Soon, the tissues were soaked crimson. With a plop, they were discarded on the wooden table, where the blood slowly spread and stained the wood.

Six’s face was covered in bruises. Lu Nan’s dripping blood slid down into her eyes.

She didn’t feel wretched at all. Instead, the fire in her heart flared hotter, fueled like oil on flames.

Fun.

Footsteps approached from outside the door, but she remained unhurried. Her tongue curled slightly as she licked the blood from her lips.

“We’re the same, her and I. We’re the same person. Can’t you tell? Why does she get to, but I don’t?”

Her voice was hoarse, her words slurred from the pain in her eyes.

Lu Nan’s heart skipped a beat. She didn’t understand the bizarre, abrupt statement and pressed urgently, “What do you mean?”

Getting no answer, she bore down harder. “What do you mean ‘the same person’? Who and who?”

Six’s ears twitched at a faint sound from the hallway.

She murmured to herself, “Time to end the show.”

She leaned back and effortlessly slipped Lu Nan’s hold.

For a fleeting moment, confusion crossed her face. How had she broken free so easily? Something felt off.

No matter. The real show was just beginning.

She suppressed her doubts, gave it no further thought, and scrambled to the spot by the door—ensuring she’d be the first thing seen when it opened.

“Open up! Bang bang bang…”

The door was pounded forcefully from outside.

In the same instant, Six wailed through tears, “Sis, don’t kill me!”

The next moment, under Lu Nan’s gaze, Six plunged the knife into her own abdomen. Blood overflowed from her gripping hand, but her eyes gleamed with undisguised amusement, pity, and thrill.

Poor, beautiful Sis would take the fall. And she eagerly anticipated how Sis would defend herself—sobbing that she hadn’t done it, or raging at the frame job with no way to fight back.

“Aah! Aaaah!”

Six howled in agony. Her cries pierced the door. Outside, they were clearly heard; the pounding grew frantic. Then the door burst open.

Two rushed in and froze at the scene.

“What are you doing?!”

Seven saw the wreckage and shouted, “Six!”

“Save me!” Tears streamed instantly from Six’s eyes. She reached tremblingly toward the group. “Save me quick… She’s trying to kill me…”

Eight blocked in front of Six, separating them. He shot Lu Nan an incredulous look.

“You… what have you done!”

“Hold her down. Don’t let her escape.” Ten spoke up first, charging ahead to seize Lu Nan in front of everyone.

She leaned in and whispered, “You okay?”

Lu Nan’s lips didn’t move, but a tiny voice replied, “I’m fine.”

Yay yay yay, she was being cared for.

Lu Nan’s inner self lit off fireworks in celebration.

【I take back what I said earlier. Lu Nan’s perfect for playing psycho—beats ’em half to death.】

【This is even more thrilling.】

【Some director needs to scout Lu Nan. She’d nail the unhinged psycho role.】

【My Ice Sis is ruthless and terse—except with Song Wenwei around.】

【Look up Lu Nan. Feels too real to be acting.】

【Six knows how to spin this in her favor. Lu Nan’s got no explanation now.】

【It’s over. Cold Sis is the first framed patsy to get voted out.】

Seven stared at Lu Nan in disbelief, but the blood-soaked floor told the tale. Her heart plummeted into an abyss.

Number One had been the first to come down and comfort her. If such a person was behind it all, that was terrifying. Would she end up killed by Number One too?

In everyone’s memory, Lu Nan had been suspicious, but no one had expected her to kill Six like this.

Wasn’t this straight-up idiotic?

Lu Nan said nothing, simply watching her performance. She couldn’t help inwardly snarking.

A method actor! Her skills were top-notch—the tears came on command. If Lu Nan weren’t the victim, even she’d have believed Six.

Six’s agonized cries continued as the others helped her onto the bed.

She clutched her abdominal wound, tears falling like a string of pearls. Paired with her fragile features, it was impossible not to believe her.

“Number One, got nothing to say?”

Four eyed them both up and down, her gaze narrowing.

Lu Nan spread her hands and said bluntly, “What should I say?”

She pretended to ponder, then murmured thoughtfully, “That I didn’t kill her? That I’m not a heteromorph? Or that I…”

Lu Nan trailed off, leaving the words hanging without finishing.

“You just wanted to silence me. Number One, you…” Six coughed heavily. The pain in her eye made her grimace as she forced out, “I have proof that you’re the heteromorph.”

Eight’s gaze darted between them, puzzled. His hand rested on something fuzzy. He looked up.

It was Four’s vest—a signal to hold off speaking.

Lu Nan suddenly smiled faintly. “Is that so?”

She twisted free of Ten’s grip and retrieved a square black box from the cabinet behind.

Unnoticed until then, Lu Nan wore the distinctive dark-patterned black gloves from the video. Everyone held their breath.

Images flashed of the curved knife severing a head, the skull tumbling.

Four reacted fastest. She whipped a rope from her waist and looped it around Lu Nan’s neck.

She yanked tight, but Lu Nan dropped into a squat, leaving the rope empty.

At the same time, Eight and Seven lunged to pin Lu Nan down.

Six watched the drama with a smile, though she dared not grin too widely—any twitch hurt her eye and cheek.

Lu Nan knew striking first was best in this situation—best to bind the suspect and avert trouble.

She anticipated and dodged all three.

The fight spilled from bedside to entryway. Lu Nan slipped like an eel, impossible to catch.

Seeing she’d outfight them at this rate, Lu Nan raised her hands above her head in surrender.

Ten swiftly recaptured her.

Lu Nan said, “Let go first. Don’t rush. I won’t run or pull any tricks.”

“Look what you’ve done to Six. How can you say that? I don’t trust you not to pull tricks.”

Amid the group’s confusion, Lu Nan said helplessly, “Then tie me up. With my hands bound, I can’t fight.”

“Makes sense.”

Ten caught her signal—binding hands in front would allow action—and ignored the others’ approval.

She picked up the hemp rope from the floor, bound Lu Nan’s hands left and right with multiple knots.

So thorough. Lu Nan sighed inwardly.

Lu Nan said, “Ten, mind helping? Open the box for me.”

Ten complied. Inside the wooden box lay a camera.

Lu Nan nudged it lightly with her finger. It spun on the table, screen facing them.

“How about we all take a look together?”
