Chapter 79: The Hidden Mechanism
Dark rocks, hard rock walls. Besides some green moss, there was nothing here.
“It seems like a dead end.”
Su Yan looked around the cave. There were no forks, no other entrances. This seemed to be the end of the cave.
“Where’s the treasure? Did we come to the wrong place?”
Su Yan’s eyes widened. According to the map, there should be a lot of treasure here. Why was there nothing?
“Don’t be anxious, Junior Brother. Let’s look for it together.”
Compared to Su Yan’s first time, Ling Ling was clearly very experienced. She looked around, touching the rock walls with her fingers from time to time.
When she walked to an inconspicuous corner, her eyes suddenly lit up. She turned her head and said with pleasant surprise, “Junior Brother, come here quickly.”
Su Yan walked to her side. Ling Ling said, “The shape of this rock is a bit special. It doesn’t look like it was formed naturally. There are traces of artificial carving. There must be a hidden mechanism.”
Su Yan looked carefully and saw a protruding rock the size of a palm. At first glance, there was nothing unusual, but upon closer inspection, one could find a clue. The surface of the rock was as smooth as jade, clearly man-made.
“Pay attention to the changes around you.”
Ling Ling said as she reached out her hand and covered the rock. As she input spiritual energy, a corner of the rock wall suddenly made a few creaking sounds, revealing a hidden cave entrance.
“This should be where the real treasure is,” Ling Ling said excitedly, walking to the entrance of the cave. However, after just a few observations, her face darkened.
Whether it was due to cutting corners or intentional, the cave was extremely narrow. A person could only crawl in. And from the outside, this passage seemed to have some distance to it, and it was unknown where it led.
“What are you standing there for, Senior Sister? Let’s go.”
Su Yan was already impatient. What kind of good thing was the treasure buried here? Just thinking about it was exciting.
“You haven’t noticed the problem?” Ling Ling turned her head and said.
“Problem? What problem?”
Su Yan didn’t quite understand.
“Look at this cave. The entrance is extremely narrow. To get in, you have to crawl. What if we encounter danger midway?”
Hearing Ling Ling’s words, Su Yan thought for a moment. Her worries were not unreasonable. If there were any mechanisms or traps inside the cave, it would be very troublesome.
“What you mean is, Senior Sister…”
“I want you to be on high alert and be extremely careful from now on.”
With that, Ling Ling walked to the entrance of the cave and gently lowered her body. As the senior sister, she should be the one to lead the way.
Su Yan then noticed a problem, a problem that even Senior Sister Ling Ling hadn’t noticed.
Although the gender roles were reversed in this world, there wasn’t much change in the style of dress.
And with Senior Sister Ling Ling’s current outfit, a green dress with the hem above her knees, and white stockings on her feet…
If she crawled in front to scout the path, and he followed behind, wouldn’t he see everything?
Ling Ling also noticed this problem. She wanted to say that she didn’t care, but thinking that it would give him the impression of a casual woman, she didn’t say it.
But what to do? If Su Yan was in front and encountered danger, what would happen? This was a problem.
“Why don’t we just break through it and open up a new passage?”
Since they knew where the cave led, why bother following the rules? Paths were made by people. If they just opened up a new passage, they could also avoid danger.
“You have a point, Senior Sister.”
Su Yan nodded in agreement.
Ling Ling drove her flying sword, wanting to cut a passage with her sword. But the rock wall was not ordinary stone. When the flying sword struck it, it made a clanging sound and only a little debris fell off.
“Now what?”
Su Yan turned to look at Ling Ling. Even the flying sword that could cut through iron like mud was useless. If they kept hacking away like this, how long would it take?
“There’s no other way.”
Ling Ling took a deep breath, her face red as she took the initiative to go forward. Now was not the time to be shy. They had already come this far. They had to get the treasure. They couldn’t possibly turn back because of a passage. Besides…
“It’s just my junior brother seeing it, not some other man.”
At this thought, Ling Ling lowered her body and crawled down. But as she entered the cave, before she could even crawl forward, she had already lost her strength.
It wasn’t because she had run out of stamina, nor was it because she had been ambushed. It was because she thought of Su Yan right behind her. In her current position, everything under her skirt could be seen clearly. Just thinking about it made her legs feel weak, and she couldn’t move at all.
“What’s wrong, Senior Sister?”
Su Yan followed behind Ling Ling and, seeing her with her butt sticking out and not moving, asked with some curiosity.
“I… this…”
Ling Ling stammered, her face red. Su Yan glanced at her trembling, white-stockinged beautiful legs and easily guessed the truth.
So his senior sister was shy. He hadn’t expected her to be so conservative and pure.
“Let me do it.”
Su Yan took the initiative to suggest. Cultivators had divine sense. As long as they paid more attention, even if they encountered danger, they could discover it in advance.
Ling Ling nodded with a red face and backed out of the cave entrance with her butt sticking out.
She had actually wanted to pass through here by herself and then call Su Yan over. But she didn’t know where the cave led or how long it was. She was not at ease leaving Su Yan alone here, so she didn’t suggest it.
Su Yan squeezed into the narrow cave entrance, and Ling Ling followed behind. Inside the cave, they found that the rock walls of the passage were uneven, as if they were not artificially carved but naturally formed, just discovered and used as an entrance to a secret passage.
“This place twists and turns. I don’t know how much longer it is.”
Su Yan looked at the deep darkness, feeling a little nervous, so he made small talk.
“It shouldn’t be much longer. I can feel the wind flowing,” Ling Ling said in a deep voice.
The two continued to move forward. Su Yan and Ling Ling crawled for a long time. The passage was wide in some places and narrow in others. This was indeed a natural cave; it was too rugged.
“What kind of crappy entrance is this? It forces people to crawl with their butts sticking out! If the treasure is some garbage, I’ll curse the person who hid it!”
Su Yan gritted his teeth. At first, he had thought it was only a few dozen meters, but it had already been several hundred meters. How come he still couldn’t see the end?
Because the cave was narrow, it was impossible to stand up straight. After crawling for so long, it was extremely uncomfortable.
“Eh? There seems to be light ahead!”
Suddenly, Su Yan saw a light appear in the cave ahead. He was like someone who had discovered a new continent. He quickly sped up and squeezed out of the cave.
The moment Su Yan got out of the cave, he immediately stood up and stretched his sore body. He looked around, and his vision suddenly opened up.
“The space here is so big.”
Su Yan looked around and found that this was a huge underground space. Logically, this was no longer the surface. He shouldn’t be able to see anything.
