Chapter 80: Extra 2
Graduation, photos, dinner… After a whole day of bustling about, Ye Qizhen was originally sleepy and exhausted. But after showering and climbing into bed, she suddenly became energetic again.
Wen Yu saw Ye Qizhen still leaning against the headboard, swiping her phone screen, staring and smiling intently.
“What are you looking at? Sleep.”
“Looking at photos,” Ye Qizhen said with her head down.
Wen Yu opened the quilt and got into bed, noticing Ye Qizhen’s silly smile while looking at photos. Just some photos, never get tired of looking.
Ye Qizhen kept her head buried, muttering, “Love this one so much, profile looks really good.”
Wen Yu choked her: “Photo looks better than the real person, right?”
Only then did Ye Qizhen turn to look at Wen Yu, giving the standard answer: “No, equally good-looking. My girlfriend is the best looking.”
Wen Yu pinched her left cheek. “Skin getting thicker and thicker.”
Ye Qizhen defended herself rigorously: “Saying your girlfriend is the best looking is called thick-skinned?”
Wen Yu was amused, leaning on Ye Qizhen to look together. She wasn’t someone who liked taking photos, but she took many photos with Ye Qizhen today, wishing to record every minute and second. Spotting a funny one, she said to Ye Qizhen, “Send this one to me.”
Ye Qizhen was puzzled.
“Use as WeChat profile picture,” Wen Yu said.
It was a blurry group photo. Wen Yu was beautiful, but she looked like a meme. Ye Qizhen refused. “You did it on purpose, right? I look so ugly in this one.”
Wen Yu: “Quite cute.”
Ye Qizhen: “…”
After chatting a few sentences while looking at photos, it became quiet beside her. Ye Qizhen turned her head carefully and found Wen Yu leaning lightly on her shoulder, eyes squinting, seemingly asleep. Probably tired today; tossed around all day.
Ye Qizhen quietly gazed at Wen Yu’s sleeping face, thinking of Wen Yu who often suffered from insomnia a year ago, and couldn’t help smiling comfortably. She reached out and touched Wen Yu’s cheek extremely lightly.
Wen Yu hadn’t fallen into a deep sleep yet, opening her eyes hazily.
Ye Qizhen consciously lowered her voice. “Sleepy?”
Gentle and soft; being woken up like this wouldn’t be annoying. Wen Yu looked at Ye Qizhen lazily and hummed an “Mn.”
Seeing Wen Yu dazed and sleepy, Ye Qizhen laughed, pulling her to lie down on the bed, covering her with the quilt, and couldn’t resist kissing the corner of her mouth. “Sleep.”
Wen Yu smiled tiredly, humming another “Mn,” thinking of the times Ye Qizhen coaxed her to sleep before.
Actually, when they first started living together, Wen Yu was a bit unaccustomed. This unaccustomedness wasn’t resistance; on the contrary, she liked it too much. She had never been loved, and Ye Qizhen was too considerate to her. Even every time she couldn’t sleep, Ye Qizhen would hug her and coax her. At that time, she thought pessimistically: How long can this patience last? The honeymoon period?
However, it wasn’t. Ye Qizhen always accompanied her like this, becoming a habit. Habit of warmth beside her, habit of someone hugging her when waking up from a nightmare, habit of someone acting coquettishly with her when waking up, habit of someone stretching legs over her when sleeping poorly…
When truly feeling merged into each other’s lives, becoming a part of each other’s lives, it seemed she no longer worried about gain and loss.
Squinting for a while, Wen Yu fell into a deep sleep, pressing against Ye Qizhen in the most comfortable sleeping posture.
Before sleeping, Ye Qizhen checked her phone again. The likes on Moments were almost exploding. She rarely showed off affection high-profiledly. Today she made an exception and posted a photo of her and Wen Yu together, candidly captured by the photographer—wearing wedding dresses, smiling at each other and kissing under the sun.
Ye Qizhen’s relationship with her family remained the same. Occasionally contacting on WeChat, Chen Yin absolutely didn’t mention her dating, and she didn’t actively talk about it to her family either. No one planned to convince anyone; just leaving it hanging.
After graduation, Ye Qizhen actively called home, telling Chen Yin she wouldn’t go home for the time being, preparing for a graduation trip.
Chen Yin didn’t ask much about the specific situation; didn’t need to think to know who she was with. She was silent for several seconds at the time, finally only asking, “Enough money?”
Ye Qizhen said enough.
The mother and daughter ended the call just like that.
This summer of graduation, Ye Qizhen and Wen Yu went on a short trip, just the two of them, as the end of university life and the starting point of a new life.
Two little girls, from south to north, picked a few fun cities along the way, wandering for more than half a month, carefree, doing whatever made them happy.
Wen Qiuxian called once during the period, asking when they would return to Beilin. Chen Yin didn’t call. The night before returning to Beilin, Ye Qizhen received a call from Ye Qifan instead.
Ye Qizhen and Ye Qifan became close probably starting from when they both fell out with the family. At first, Ye Qizhen was really worried about Ye Qifan’s state after the divorce. Fortunately, after a month or two, Ye Qifan walked out of the depressed mood and started her new life. And the Ye family had to accept some realities.
Change wasn’t that hard; what was hard was the courage needed for firm determination.
“What time is the flight tomorrow? I’ll pick you up.”
“No need.”
“It’s okay, I happen to be off.”
Ye Qizhen finally told Ye Qifan the arrival time. Her sister wanted to ease the relationship between her and the family, right? She could feel it.
Just after ending the call, Ye Qizhen heard Wen Yu ask casually, “Call from home?”
“Mn, my sister, said she’ll pick us up at the airport tomorrow.” Ye Qizhen explained.
Wen Yu smiled, turning to look at the night outside the window.
Although Wen Yu acted very calm, Ye Qizhen still sensitively sensed Wen Yu’s thoughts. Very simple, just need to think from another perspective slightly. If because of her, Wen Yu had an extra layer of estrangement with her family, she would inevitably have a small thorn in her heart. Occasionally still care, right?
Ye Qizhen had seriously considered this issue. Maybe she could take advantage of this summer vacation to test the family’s reaction again.
Thinking, Ye Qizhen took Wen Yu’s hand, hugged her face to face, tightening her arms around her waist bit by bit.
“What are you doing?”
Ye Qizhen hugged her shamelessly for a while, asking back cutely, “Need a reason to hug my own girlfriend?”
Moonlight shone through the window, falling on her charming and delicate face. Wen Yu was silent, lowering her head to kiss the corner of her mouth, sucking her lips.
“What are you doing?” Ye Qizhen gained an advantage and acted innocent, mimicking Wen Yu’s tone.
Wen Yu was more righteous than Ye Qizhen: “Need a reason to kiss my own girlfriend?”
Soft laughter was pleasant to the ear.
The kiss was gentle too.
Ye Qizhen lowered her eyes, responding attentively. Familiar sweetness filled her lips, never getting tired of it, just like encountering the moonlight of a strange city, romantic.
