Chapter 8: The Cyber Cubs Have Grown Up!
At the same time, Su Jian Yue’s roommate, Liu Yujia, sent her a message.
Liu Yujia: AHHHHHHHHHH!
Su Jian Yue glanced at it, thinking she was having a fit, but she still replied to Liu Yujia’s message.
Su Jian Yue: What’s up? Why so excited after not seeing me for just a few days?
Liu Yujia: No, you have to check the trending topics! You’re trending! I’m telling you, the popularity of the nation’s cub is no joke. You even pushed Film Empress Jiang Jinhua down the trending list. You’re so awesome!
Su Jian Yue was completely baffled. What the heck? I’m just minding my own business, how did I end up trending? And how is that even possible?
Sure, she was pretty famous when she was a kid, but so many years had passed. Su Jian Yue felt that there probably weren’t many people who still knew or recognized her. How could she possibly surpass a major film empress on the trending list?
Su Jian Yue: Are you still half asleep? Me, surpassing Film Empress Jiang’s trending topic? You’re such a good storyteller.
Liu Yujia: It’s true!!! Go see for yourself and you’ll know.
Su Jian Yue: Fine. If you’re lying, you’re treating me to dinner when school starts.
Liu Yujia: Deal! Go look now.
Su Jian Yue huffed, exited Green Bubble, and opened Weibo instead.
The moment she opened Weibo, she noticed something was wrong. Su Jian Yue had opened her main Weibo account, which she had just registered. She thought that since she was a non-celebrity now, no one would be following her. But why was her notification bar showing 99+ right now?
Su Jian Yue tapped to take a look, and her Weibo nearly crashed. Not only had she gained tens of thousands of followers, but many people had also left her comments and sent her private messages.
Su Jian Yue clicked on the only post on her account and found that there were over a thousand comments below it. She tapped on the comments to read them.
[AHHHHHH, my cyber cub, Mama has finally found you!]
[Sob, our Little Moon is still so cute. She’s so pretty now that she’s grown up. The cub I like didn’t have a glow-down, that’s great.]
[Little Moon, Mama loves you!]
[Crying out loud, you’re already old enough to go on a romance variety show. The tears of a generation.]
[My cute cub, I even shipped your Mama and Mommy’s CP.]
Su Jian Yue scratched the back of her neck in confusion. Wait, how did I gain so many fans and get so many comments overnight?
She clicked on the Weibo trending list and saw that the topic “Little Moon and Shen Xun to Participate in Romance Variety Show (Explosive)” was still number one.
Su Jian Yue was very puzzled. She and her older sister were trending, and their topic was indeed ranked ahead of the Film Empress Jiang.
She thought for a moment and replied to Liu Yujia’s message.
Su Jian Yue: I guess the production team bought some publicity. I don’t know what’s going on either.
Liu Yujia: Don’t forget your old friends when you get rich. Remember to treat me to hotpot when school starts.
Su Jian Yue: Hmph, no problem.
Many netizens also followed the production team’s tag and found Shen Xun’s Weibo. Shen Xun’s Weibo was completely empty. Not only had she not posted anything, but even her profile picture was the default one. Many netizens started discussing it on the Heartbeat Emergency forum.
[Have you guys seen the photo Little Moon posted? She’s so pretty now, just as cute as when she was little.]
[I saw it, I saw it! As expected of my favorite cyber cub. Love her, love her.]
[I followed Shen Xun’s Weibo too, but she hasn’t posted anything.]
[LOL, she hasn’t changed a bit. Shen Xun is still as aloof as she was when she was a kid.]
[The two cubs had a great relationship when they were little. I wonder if they’ve kept in touch over the past ten-plus years?]
[Sob, they probably have. Anyway, no matter what, I have to watch the entire live broadcast of this variety show!]
[Me too, me too. For no other reason than to just see Shen Xun and Little Moon, it’s worth it.]
[Even if this show is crap, I have to taste it to see how salty it is.]
[To the person above, you don’t have to go that far. Really, you don’t.]
Su Jian Yue chuckled as she read the netizens’ discussions. As expected of me, I’m already a hit before the show even airs.
Unable to contain her happiness, Su Jian Yue made a video call to Shen Xun. The call was quickly answered.
On the other end of the phone, Shen Xun had just come out of the bathroom and was still drying her hair. She looked at Su Jian Yue on the screen as she wiped her hair. “What’s up?”
“Hehe, Older Sister, did you see the trending topics? We’re trending,” Su Jian Yue said, her eyes shining as she looked at Shen Xun on the screen.
Shen Xun pushed her hair back and smiled. “We’re not celebrities. How could we suddenly be trending?”
“I don’t know either. Maybe the production team is building hype. Photos and videos of us as kids have been dug up by netizens. A lot of people have left comments on my Weibo,” Su Jian Yue said, grinning from ear to ear.
“Heh, this production team is quite clever. By using the two of us, they’ve saved a large portion of their promotional fees. 6.5 million was too little to ask for,” Shen Xun said, continuing to chat with Su Jian Yue while blow-drying her hair.
Su Jian Yue just stared blankly at her older sister. Shen Xun’s complexion was already fair. She was wearing a nightgown, and a large patch of skin on her neck was exposed, so white it was dazzling. Su Jian Yue just watched obediently, like a big puppy.
“Older Sister, I have to wait three more days to see you. I miss you~” Su Jian Yue said, leaning close to the camera and acting cute.
Shen Xun’s eyes curved. “In a few days, I’ll bring you a gift.”
“Hehe, thank you, Older Sister.” With that, Su Jian Yue remembered the Weibo account she had just registered and added, “Older Sister, I’ve already followed you on Weibo. Do you want to follow me back?”
Shen Xun looked at the little puppy staring at her with expectant eyes and nodded with a smile on her lips. “Okay, I’ll follow you back in a bit.”
“Mhmm, you’re the best!” Su Jian Yue was overjoyed.
She then started complaining to Shen Xun about her Mama and Mommy. “I’ve only been on break for a few days, and Mama and Mommy are already complaining that I talk too much. They must think I’m disrupting their world for two. Hmph!”
Shen Xun watched the little puppy’s vivid complaints, wishing she could be by Su Jian Yue’s side right now to pinch her cheeks. She’s just too cute.
“It’s the same for me. I’ve long gotten used to being the third wheel.” Shen Xun’s Mommy was even clingier. She had only been on break for a few days and had already walked in on her Mama and Mommy hugging multiple times. She was numb to it, used to it.
“Hmph, good thing we’re going on the show soon. We’ll just ignore them!” Su Jian Yue said fiercely.
Shen Xun blow-dried her hair until it was half-dry, then picked up her phone and sat on the edge of the bed. “Okay, we’ll ignore them. You rest well these next few days. Go to bed early, and don’t stay up late, you know? It’ll definitely be busy on the show, and the food and accommodation will surely not be as good as at home.”
“Mhmm, I’ll listen to you. I’ll play on my phone for a little while longer and then go to sleep.” Su Jian Yue stared obediently at Shen Xun with her puppy-dog eyes.
Shen Xun’s heart softened. “Then, shall we talk again tomorrow? It’s almost ten o’clock, about time to rest.”
“Mhmm, goodbye, Older Sister. You hang up first, Older Sister,” Su Jian Yue said very obediently. She couldn’t bear to hang up.
Shen Xun waved at the screen. “See you tomorrow.”
Only after the video window disappeared did Su Jian Yue get up. She took a shower and then went downstairs to get a glass of water.
She had just come out of the hallway from her room and was about to go downstairs when she saw her Mama and Mommy hugging at the kitchen entrance. It looked like her Mommy was even kissing her Mama.
Su Jian Yue covered her eyes, turned around mechanically, and quickly walked back to her room. Hmph, looks like I’ll have to wait a while before I go out again.
She finally understood why she had started sleeping alone so early as a child. She had originally thought it was because her Mama and Mommy wanted to train her. Now it seemed it was entirely because her Mama and Mommy wanted to be sweet with each other!
Su Jian Yue rolled around on her bed twice in a huff. Half an hour later, she estimated that the two of them should have returned to their room. Only then did she sneak out of her room like a little puppy.
Su Jian Yue tentatively walked to the stairwell. Seeing that there was no one downstairs, she let out a sigh of relief, went down the stairs, and headed to the dining area to get herself some water.
She drank a whole glass right there at the water dispenser before she felt less thirsty.
Su Jian Yue poured herself another glass of water and then quickly scurried back to her room to avoid being a nuisance to her Mama and Mommy.
After a few more comfortable days at home, on the evening of July 9th, Su Jian Yue received a call from the production team. They confirmed the time for the at-home filming with her.
Su Jian Yue was in her room organizing her things. Of course, she had to pack away some private items in advance, leaving only the things that were suitable for the camera to be filmed.
She had even made a special trip out during the day. Since she was going to be on a variety show, shouldn’t she bring some welcome gifts?
So, she had gone out in the morning and bought nine palm-sized plush toys, mostly common cute toys like pandas, capybaras, and so on. However, she only bought one little pig, which she planned to give to her Older Sister Shen Xun.
Su Jian Yue neatly arranged the row of plush toys she had bought on the cabinet. When she saw the little pig, she even picked it up and stroked it. The little pig is still the cutest!
She packed two large suitcases of clothes. After everything was done, she finally went to bed to rest.
The next morning, Su Jian Yue woke up at just past six. The agreed time with the cameraman was six-thirty in the morning. By the time Su Jian Yue had washed up, the production team had arrived.
“Good morning, Teacher Su. We are from the production team. I am your follow-cam cameraman, Yan Huan. May we start filming now? Please note, today’s filming will be a live broadcast,” Yan Huan explained.
Su Jian Yue nodded. “Alright, everything is ready. You can start filming.”
And so, the cameraman hoisted the camera onto his shoulder and started filming from the moment he knocked on the door.
A moment later, Su Jian Yue opened the villa’s main door. She gave the camera a sweet smile. “Good morning, everyone.”
At the same time, a simultaneous live broadcast had already started on the video website. There were ten live streams running at the same time.
Many netizens had been squatting in the live stream rooms for a while, especially in Su Jian Yue’s and Shen Xun’s. The moment the broadcast started, a large number of viewers flooded in.
[I’m here to see what my cyber cub looks like now!]
[I’m here to see too. My god, what a beautiful face. Such a clean little alpha.]
[Sob, our cub has really grown up. I’m seeing the cub live.]
[Little Moon, Mama loves you! (frantic heart-ing version)]
[Su Jian Yue’s house is so big. She seems to be living very well.]
The camera followed Su Jian Yue into the house. In the living room, Su Yubing and Mo Yuxin were also there.
Mo Yuxin waved at the camera. “Long time no see. The last time our family of three was on a variety show together was over ten years ago.”
“That’s right. In the blink of an eye, Little Moon has grown so big. We hope everyone will help us take good care of Little Moon. This child has never been away from home for so long, except for school,” Su Yubing also said.
