Gu Si looked at Song Qi beside her. Something about this just didn’t seem right.
“What’s wrong?” Song Qi asked.
Gu Si shook her head and flashed a bright smile. “Yangnuan, you’re such a good person.” Her voice was soft and sweet.
“A good person?” Song Qi raised an eyebrow.
“Is something wrong with that?”
“Nothing. I’m just not used to people calling me a good person.” Song Qi put her hands in her pockets. “Come on. Class is about to start.”
Gu Si nodded.
“Give me your contact information,” Song Qi said, remembering something.
“Okay. We can add each other on QQ. I’ll write it down for you after class?”
“No need. Just tell me. I’ll remember it.”
“You can remember it just like that? That’s amazing.” Gu Si was astonished, and again felt that something was a little off. Still, she recited her QQ number. “Do you need me to repeat it?”
“No.” Song Qi looked at Gu Si and repeated the number back without missing a beat.
Gu Si’s eyes widened.
They went back to their own classes. Song Qi had just sat down when the bell rang for the lunch study period.
Qin Xiao glanced at Song Qi and narrowed his eyes, curiosity in his gaze.
“I know I’m good-looking, but you should still stop staring and do your homework.” Song Qi lowered her voice.
“Class monitor, you’re pretty confident.” Qin Xiao curled his lip.
Song Qi turned and gave him a cool look. “Hm? What did you just say?”
“Nothing.” Qin Xiao smiled and turned away, frowning. He couldn’t believe a little girl had startled him with a look.
It was a blow to his street cred.
The lunch study period lasted half an hour, followed by an hour for everyone to nap.
Thinking of Gu Si’s request, Song Qi scribbled a note and handed it to Qin Xiao.
He looked at it, raised an eyebrow, then leaned toward her. “Class monitor, you want my contact information?”
Song Qi shifted farther away. “Please move away from me.”
If he got too close, she might attack him. She was worried she’d knock him flat without thinking.
“But I don’t give my contact information to just anyone.” Qin Xiao went back to his seat and propped his chin on his hand, watching Song Qi.
Song Qi stared at him expressionlessly, put away her things, and lay down on her desk.
Qin Xiao: …
[Host, I hope you can maintain a decent level of interaction with the male lead.]
“Everyone else is trying to sleep. How am I supposed to interact with him?” Song Qi closed her eyes.
System: …
This batch of hosts was too hard to manage.
Qin Xiao stared at the back of Song Qi’s head. Why was she so bad at taking a joke? He shook his head, wrote his QQ number on a piece of paper, and slipped it over to her.
Song Qi glanced at the note in front of her, then stuffed it into her pocket.
[This male lead is strange too. But at least things are moving forward.]
For the rest of the afternoon, Song Qi and Qin Xiao barely spoke.
It was Saturday. School let out at six, and the students could go home before returning for evening study on Sunday.
Song Qi had planned to go back to her dorm, but the system forced her to go home and follow a specific route.
She was not pleased. Sure enough, after about five minutes, she spotted Qin Xiao and a group of boys around him.
They were all wearing No. 4 High School uniforms, and every one of them looked like trouble.
“So what am I supposed to do?” Song Qi asked, her mouth twitching.
[Go stop them from fighting.]
Song Qi frowned. “Why should I stop them? I’m not sick.”
[Host, hurry and stop them from fighting,] the system repeated. [If you refuse, I’ll keep saying the same thing for the next twenty-four hours.]
“Is something wrong with you?”
[You drove me to this. I can’t help it.]
Song Qi walked over with an expressionless face. “Don’t fight.”
Every head turned toward her.
Song Qi remained perfectly calm. “I stopped you. Your request was to stop them, not to make sure it worked, right?”
[If it doesn’t work, stay here and keep stopping them until it does! Host, stop trying to exploit loopholes!]
“Class monitor, go home. This has nothing to do with you,” Qin Xiao said.
Song Qi curled her lip. “Don’t fight.”
Her three words were as flat and casual as before, with not a hint of sincerity.
“Why listen to her? Qin Xiao, hurry up. The issue between us isn’t going to end just because your class monitor tells us to stop.” The boy facing Qin Xiao tossed his schoolbag and uniform jacket to the ground.
Qin Xiao curled his lip and glanced back at Song Qi. “Could you hold my bag for me?”
Song Qi took a step backward. “No.”
System: …
Qin Xiao: …
A few of the other boys laughed.
Qin Xiao glanced at Song Qi, dropped his bag on the ground, then turned around and rolled up his sleeves. “What are you laughing at?”
Song Qi watched the whole fight. Every so often, the system forced her to call out, “Stop fighting!”
The fight was dull. Qin Xiao and the boy leading the other group at least looked like they’d had some training. The rest were fit only to stand around and cheer.
As the male lead, Qin Xiao wasn’t going to lose. He took on four opponents and won, though he still ended up with a bruised face.
After they traded threats, everyone went their separate ways.
Song Qi checked the time. Forty minutes. It had taken forty minutes to deal with those weaklings. “Are male leads in this world always this weak?”
System: …
“Class monitor, why are you still here?” Qin Xiao slung his bag over one shoulder and looked thoroughly rumpled.
Song Qi glanced at his posture. It bothered her. “If something happens, you need a witness.”
“Class monitor, want me to walk you home?”
“No.” Song Qi looked him over. “Take a good shower tonight.”
Qin Xiao: …
“If you show up looking like this tomorrow, I’ll kick you right out of your seat.” Song Qi turned and left.
The system desperately wanted to roar at her. [Host, this is when you’re supposed to check on his injuries!]
🤣 can’t be helped system… Our MC is not interested in the male lead
