Silence fell.

Bai didn’t speak, her expression unchanging, her gaze fixed on Sasha.

After a long moment, she said, her voice low, “I don’t know.”

“And I don’t care.”

“Even if she once single-handedly slaughtered eleven of the ancient empire’s Knight units?” Sasha asked, her tone flat, yet revealing a horrifying truth.

Bai’s long eyelashes fluttered slightly. She glanced at Ara, who was huddled beside her.

She had suspected it. Ara was the Weapon of Vikarn, and a weapon’s primary purpose was to kill.

But she hadn’t expected the Weapon of Vikarn, created by the ancient empire, to turn on its creators.

“Even so,” Bai said, looking back at Sasha, her hand protectively on Ara’s waist, “it remains the same.”

She had never regretted standing with Ara. She felt their connection, their bond. As Ara had said, they were one.

“She is a mistake, created by my sister and I…” Sasha said, her voice a low murmur, as if speaking to herself. “And I will correct that mistake, no matter the cost.”

Bai’s expression hardened, her small face filled with determination. “You can try.”

Sasha looked at them, a flicker of understanding in her eyes.

The commotion had alerted the capital’s Knights, and with the detector’s pinpoint location, patrols were closing in.

But there was still time for her and Ice Lily to disguise themselves and disappear into the crowd.

Bai didn’t act. Within the [Frost Calamity] domain, unless she unleashed her full form, she was no match for Ice Lily.

Bai blinked, her voice soft. “I hope… you won’t…”

Her most beautiful form, her fully awakened form, could only be unleashed at the moment of her death.

And Bai knew that if she reached that point, her heart would be filled with despair…

But she wouldn’t let that happen.

She tightened her grip on Ara, her gaze hardening. “I won’t let you hurt Ara. Never.”

Sasha didn’t say anything more. She and Ice Lily’s forms shimmered, then faded, disappearing.

But Bai was certain Sasha’s use of the scepter was temporary.
