Chapter 122: [Transition]—Embrace
The Blood Spider mark in the sky contracted, sinking into the Crimson Nest.
The Wild God Altar trembled, and the Crimson Nest rose, slowly “standing up.”
The gaping maw of its entrance closed, and the six eyes above it opened, filled with a crazed light.
Eight spider legs emerged from the ground, a scorching gray smoke radiating from them.
Its gaze fell on Bai, and it let out a deafening shriek.
A lesser being would have been deafened by the sound.
All of its eyes were fixed on Bai. Without Queen Arachne’s guidance, it instinctively recognized her as the enemy who had forced it into its long slumber.
“Ah! Beautiful, powerful, this is the Wild God…” Queen Arachne murmured, her gaze filled with a rapturous fascination. “I want… I want to be one with you…”
“Tsk, a ‘Wild God’? Is that what you call it?” Queen Shaya sneered, looking at the creature with disdain.
“Just a dead Bloodlust Spider… if you knew your corpse would be worshiped as a ‘god’ on Solor, you would have rather stayed dead.”
It was simple. The “Wild God” was just a member of an extinct race from the Promised Land, remembered only by a few.
Perhaps, like Eleanor, it was the last ember of its race, a living record.
But it had failed, and its corpse had been found by Queen Arachne, and transformed into the “Wild God.”
And the title “god,” in the Promised Land, was a taboo.
Otherwise, the Promised Land wouldn’t have been called the “Place of Divine Advent.”
But that was all in the past. Queen Arachne was a prodigy.
After finding the Bloodlust Spider’s corpse, she had used her own bloodline to “resurrect” it.
Although the resurrection had failed, in that the consciousness had not returned, the body had been successfully reanimated.
And she had named it the “Wild God,” and with its immense power, had conquered the Savage Lands.
Although called a “god,” it was just a powerful weapon in her hands, which was why the other leaders looked down on it.
Of course, despite their disdain, the Wild God’s power was undeniable.
In ancient times, it had been a World Ender Class being, a powerful figure even in the Promised Land, likely a leader of its kind.
And now, after centuries of slumber, even if it hadn’t broken through to a higher level, it was still far more powerful than before.
The higher the rank, the more difficult it was to advance.
For example, there were many low-level Destruction Class Blood Spider royals, but most were insignificant. But a peak Destruction Class like Diana was worthy of the title of eldest princess.
The North Empire’s Legendary Knights were all at the low-level Calamity Class. With their ancient Authority, they could perhaps hold their own against a mid-level Calamity Class being, but they were no match for a true commander.
As for Queen Shaya, she was currently one of the most powerful beings in the World Ender Class.
Unless she encountered a “child of fate,” like High Priestess Nimora or Queen Arachne, whose deaths would be as difficult as annihilating their entire race, she could kill any Calamity Class being with a single blow.
But for Bai, the massive Wild God, and the menacing Queen Arachne, were both insurmountable opponents.
Even at her peak, during the Battle of Vikarn, she would have struggled against them.
But she wasn’t alone.
Last time, she had had Ara. This time, she had Nimora.
Queen Shaya narrowed her eyes, observing Bai’s blood pact.
But for some reason, she felt a strange premonition, a warning not to look too closely, not to discover the identity of Bai’s blood pact partner.
“Could the one she’s bound to be even stronger than me?”
The thought was absurd, yet it persisted. Her pride pricked, she tried to focus, to see.
But now that Bai was in her Dream Demon form, the traces of the blood pact were faint, and Shaya could only see a blurry outline.
With the Wild God at her back, Queen Arachne’s confidence had returned.
She looked at Bai, her voice soft. “Little fox, for me to sleep soundly, I must ask you to die. Will you?”
The recurring nightmare would finally end today.
Now, with the more powerful Wild God, and the weakened little fox, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
She had initially only intended to drive the little fox away, assuming she was still as powerful as she had been in ancient times. But now, after so many years, the little fox was weaker.
Whatever the reason, she had to die. With her death, all her problems would be solved.
“Bai…” Eleanor clutched Bai’s hand, then looked down at the bracelet on her own.
Why… why couldn’t she use it? Her ancestor had said she could use it in a time of crisis…
Suddenly, a sense of clarity washed over her.
“Ancestor, this… this is you, isn’t it…”
She seemed to remember something, yet nothing at all.
She stared at the green bracelet, tears welling in her eyes.
Queen Arachne walked slowly, gracefully towards them, a heavy pressure emanating from her.
And behind her, the grotesque Wild God moved with a stiff, puppet-like gait.
Just then, a phantom figure emerged from Eleanor’s bracelet, a gentle, beautiful woman, her features a more mature version of Eleanor’s, completely different from the Green Lolita in her dream.
This was Green Lolita’s true form, Eleanor’s mother, the last prophet of the Fairy race, equal in status to High Priestess Nimora.
She opened her arms, gently embracing Eleanor.
“Ancestor, should I… not call you that?” Eleanor asked, clutching the bracelet, tears streaming down her face.
She couldn’t see the phantom, but she could feel its warmth, its sorrow.
Beside her, Bai stood silently, her gaze fixed on the Wild God, and on the Queen before it.
“I see it…” she murmured.
“Fate.”
