Chapter 139: [Coda]—”Word of Command” and “Word of God”
Eleanor was lost in thought.
It seemed that after Bai had used it, the sacred artifact fragments had changed, becoming something she no longer recognized.
And now, they were spontaneously forming a summoning circle, a circle that would bring Bai back. She almost felt as if Bai were the true master of the “Oracle.”
Otherwise, it didn’t make sense…
The Wild God’s rampage continued, but its primary target had always been Bai. And with Isabelle’s Dark Sky as a cover, the summoning circle was quickly completed, a connection to an unknown place established.
But this time, the summoning was… different.
As the portal opened, a wave of power washed over Solor, and even the Abyssal Demon Realm, and all the Calamity Class and higher beings turned their gazes towards it, sensing the arrival of a terrifying presence.
“Is it the Abyssal Lord?”
“No, the Abyssal Lord is much stronger… though this one is not weak.”
“Could it be… an ancient being?”
“Or… an ember of the Promised Land…”
And in the Wild God Altar, the Wild God roared, charging towards the summoning circle.
Isabelle immediately expanded her Dark Sky, intercepting it, buying time.
And the summoning circle was now a swirling vortex of color, a spectacle of such beauty that Eleanor could only stare, speechless.
“A fantastical display of colors,” was all she could think.
At the same time, far away, Zi opened her eyes, the world around her now a desolate gray.
She had willingly trapped herself in her Magnificent Illusion, a self-imposed exile, but now, it had been shattered.
“The one who flees will always have to face the cruel reality…” she murmured, then looked towards the summoning circle.
“Only the brave can possess their own colors.”
“Little one, you win.”
The fantastical colors were just a backdrop. Two small figures, locked in an embrace, emerged, their beauty so profound, so captivating, that one couldn’t help but be drawn in, to share in their joy, their sorrow.
Even the Wild God paused, then roared with an even greater fury.
“…You… dare…”
It burned its own life force, swatting Isabelle away like a fly, its massive body charging towards Bai and Ara, a wave of destructive energy radiating from it.
“Stop,” Bai said, her voice soft, yet filled with an undeniable authority.
—Authority: “Word of Command.”
And the world obeyed.
The Wild God’s charge was halted, its body cracking, blood and gore spewing from its wounds.
“Why…?” it roared, its voice a hoarse whisper, its gaze fixed on Bai.
“Why… did you betray… us…”
Bai looked at it, her expression calm. “I don’t know.”
“Hahahaha… a joke…” the Wild God laughed, its body struggling against the chains of reality, its flesh and blood tearing away.
“If not for… you… the Promised Land…” it roared, raising a spider leg, pointing at Bai, “would never have become… the Place of Divine Advent!”
Bai remained silent.
She had already suspected it. The Place of Divine Advent, the Promised Land… they were one and the same.
A beautiful place, destroyed by the arrival of a god, the source of all subsequent calamities.
But she still didn’t know her connection to it.
But now…
She looked at the Wild God. “No matter what, the past… I will bear it all. This is my fate,” she said, her voice low.
This was a long journey, filled with joy and sorrow, and at its end, she would face her destiny.
“Now, it’s time to end this.”
Her dark-gold eyes flared, and she looked at the Wild God, giving her final command.
“Die.”
—Authority: “Word of God.”
The same power the Abyssal Lord phantom had used. But unlike [Word of Command], which was a command to the world, [Word of God] was a direct, irresistible command to another being, a divine decree.
In that moment, the Bloodlust Spider, which had been reanimated as the Wild God, felt the cold grip of death again. But this time, it was different. It froze, a look of utter terror on its face.
“No, not… you’re not her… you’re her…”
Its rage vanished, replaced by a desperate fear. “Wrong! Wrong! All wrong!” it roared, its gaze fixed on Bai. “You’re not her! You’re her!”
Its roars faded, and it collapsed, its massive body dissolving into dust.
A strange silence fell over the battlefield. Bai looked at the dissipating Wild God, Ara’s hand in hers.
“Not right. It seems it mistook me for someone else,” she frowned, thinking of the Wild God’s last words.
It had initially blamed her for the destruction of the Place of Divine Advent, but then, after she had used [Word of God], its anger had turned to terror.
“Was it the Abyssal Lord?”
She knew her [Word of God] Authority came from the Abyssal Lord, and that likely no one else possessed it.
“The Place of Divine Advent… the arrival of a god… and the great destruction in the Abyssal Demon Realm… the Day of Divine Advent…”
It was all connected.
“Perhaps… this is the truth.”
She reached out, and the swirling sands settled, the dust motes dancing in the air, brushing against her hand.
Just then, a curious head peeked out. “Hey? Is this the little girl you were looking for, Bai?”
Bai turned to see Eleanor and Isabelle, both slightly injured.
“Yes,” she said, stroking Ara’s head. “Her name is Ara.”
Eleanor’s eyes lit up. “Wow, so cute! A different kind of cute from Bai!”
