As long as she could get rid of Huo Wannian, everything would be worth it.
Leaving Xi Meng’s apartment, Tang Ze stretched, not in a hurry to leave. He went into the stairwell, opened a window for some fresh air, and lit a cigarette.
He had only taken two puffs when he heard footsteps from downstairs.
Feng Mengmeng walked up the stairs, and their eyes met. The atmosphere was a bit awkward, yet slightly flirtatious. Feng Mengmeng tucked her hair behind her ear, looking a bit nervous.
“Why didn’t you take the elevator?”
Tang Ze was the first to speak.
“I live just downstairs. Waiting for the elevator is too slow, the stairs are faster.”
Feng Mengmeng said, looking down.
Tang Ze responded with an “oh,” and silence fell again.
“Thank you for saving me last night.”
Feng Mengmeng looked at Tang Ze, expressing her gratitude.
“It was nothing, don’t worry about it.”
Feng Mengmeng bit her lip, clutching the documents in her arms tighter. In a very small voice, she said, “Did CEO Xi talk to you?”
Tang Ze was taken aback. Is this how you all discuss murder? She’s so scared.
“She did.”
“And you agreed?”
“Yes.”
Feng Mengmeng’s face flushed. CEO Xi had told her about it this morning, and she didn’t object. It was a way to repay him for saving her, and maybe he could protect her in the future.
Tang Ze looked at the blushing Feng Mengmeng, feeling that something was off. Why was she so shy about killing someone? She wasn’t An Bai.
Feng Mengmeng whispered, “Should we go to my place?”
Tang Ze’s lips twitched. He finally understood. Xi Meng had said she would have Feng Mengmeng accompany him. They had been talking on completely different wavelengths.
But looking at Feng Mengmeng’s condition, she was quite attractive, and she had offered herself up. “Alright then.”
Hearing Tang Ze agree, Feng Mengmeng was very happy. With such a strong backer, she would be safer.
A long time later, Tang Ze returned to his apartment and started recounting his story. The three women listened with great interest.
Sun Ting exclaimed, “Isn’t this better than Yiyi?”
Ye Qingyi playfully grabbed Sun Ting by the neck, and Sun Ting stuck out her tongue, pretending to be strangled.
An Bai sighed. “I never thought we wouldn’t even get a turn.”
At An Bai’s words, Sun Ting and Ye Qingyi grinned mischievously. They were all experienced now.
Ye Qingyi had been worried that Xi Meng wouldn’t let Tang Ze have his way so easily, but she hadn’t expected Xi Meng to go to such lengths to get him to kill. She was a truly ruthless woman, willing to do anything for power.
She had thought Xi Meng was a great philanthropist, a living bodhisattva, but it turned out she just wanted to control the entire building, even the other wealthy residents. Now, her sights were set on a different group.
Ye Qingyi felt she couldn’t compare to such boldness. No wonder her business was so successful.
Feng Mengmeng arrived at Xi Meng’s door, looking as if she had just bathed in a spring breeze. She entered and handed over the speech for tonight’s meeting.
“I’ll do it tonight.”
Fu Qi took the speech with a smile.
Feng Mengmeng looked at Xi Meng with concern. “Did you catch a cold, CEO Xi?”
Xi Meng didn’t speak, her face sullen. Feng Mengmeng was worried. Was it because of her?
“CEO Xi, you need to rest. We can’t do without you.”
Feng Mengmeng said softly. Without CEO Xi, the other residents would likely rebel.
Xi Meng hummed in acknowledgement and waved her hand, dismissing Feng Mengmeng. Feng Mengmeng looked at Fu Qi, who nodded.
