Chapter 81: Someone Actually Opened the Door
The iron gate outside had been smashed. Luckily, the front door was strong enough to withstand the assault. Otherwise, she would have been captured by those bandits. And when the rain started again, they had fled. If the rain stopped, they would surely return.
Sometimes she wished for the rain to stop, sometimes she didn’t. The food was gone anyway. She might as well wait quietly for death. No big deal. In eighteen years, she would be a hero again.
At this thought, Li Linger even chuckled to herself, a smile that could topple cities.
At the entrance of Hai’an Garden, Tang Ze and the four women, dressed in hazmat suits, stood in the rain, an odd sight.
“How about we make a bet?”
Tang Ze suddenly suggested.
At the mention of a bet, the four women took a step back. Betting with Master, if you lost, you might lose your life. Even An Bai knew this. Gambling was a vice, stay away from it.
“What are you doing? You’re making me look like a devil.”
The four women’s gazes seemed to say, Aren’t you?
“If you win, I’ll reward you with a portion of your favorite food. If you lose, just dance for me. How about it? You in?”
The four women took a synchronized step forward. You should have said so earlier, you scared us.
“What’s the bet?”
An Bai asked curiously.
“We’ll knock on every door. The bet is whether they’ll open or not. If they take us in and don’t harm us, I’ll even give them supplies.”
Tang Ze wanted to know if there were any good people left in this world. So far, he hadn’t seen any.
Well, Luo Jun from Shanhu Complex was one, which was why he had given them so many chances, but it hadn’t changed anything.
But these were villas, not apartments. They would be entering someone’s home.
“Someone will definitely open the door.”
Xi Meng immediately said. It was a matter of probability, and even if she lost, she would just have to dance.
“Me too.”
Sun Ting agreed. Dancing was her old profession. She had danced for him before.
Tang Ze looked at Ye Qingyi and An Bai, and they nodded.
“Alright then, I’ll bet no one opens the door. If someone is kind enough to take us in, I’ll give them at least a year’s worth of supplies.”
He had looted so many supplies, he didn’t want to give them to bad people. Good people deserved to live.
“Master, you’re being so kind.”
Sun Ting teased.
“I was never bad in the first place. Did I ever force you? No, right?”
“Yes, yes, we were all willing.”
Tang Ze shrugged. “You say it so reluctantly. Just turn around and walk away. I promise I won’t hold it against you.”
With that, he walked inside.
“Oh, Master is angry! Wait for Bai~” An Bai quickly followed. The three women behind exchanged glances, and Sun Ting also followed.
Ye Qingyi and Xi Meng felt this was a chance to escape, but how long would they survive without Tang Ze?
They probably wouldn’t even make it out of the city.
Without hesitation, they also followed.
“See? You’re doing this willingly.”
Seeing Tang Ze’s genuine expression, the four women laughed. Perhaps this was the real him.
They arrived at the first villa. The iron gate had been smashed open. It seemed even the villas in the rich people’s district had been looted.
They knocked on the door.
If Tang Ze had shouted, “Your delivery is here!”, it would have been a scene from a horror movie.
Faint footsteps approached the door.
Tang Ze called out, “Is anyone home? Can we stay for a night?”
“Get lost, or I’ll kill you!”
The man inside, looking through the peephole, saw five strange figures outside. He thought it was a trick to get him to open the door and steal his supplies.
Tang Ze shrugged helplessly. “This brother has a bad temper.”
“Big Brother, please open the door.”
An Bai suddenly cooed.
Using a woman to lure me into opening the door!
“Get lost!”
Tang Ze shrugged. Even An Bai couldn’t get him to open the door. It seemed the hazmat suits were a problem. If they showed their faces, he might open the door.
Of course, you couldn’t blame him. Not opening the door was the normal reaction. Opening the door would be abnormal.
“Let’s try another house.”
Tang Ze sighed. He couldn’t even give away his supplies.
They arrived at the second villa. The iron gate was also open.
This time, the four women were about to take off their hazmat suits to get the door opened.
“Hey, hey, no cheating!”
Tang Ze immediately stopped them. If they showed their faces, even the most cautious man would open the door.
“Big Brother inside, please open the door.”
“It’s so cold~”
“Brother, please open the door~”
A few black lines appeared on Tang Ze’s forehead. He was getting goosebumps.
A woman’s voice came from inside. “Get lost!”
“Pfft, hahaha!”
Tang Ze burst out laughing. It was the woman of the house. Of course she wouldn’t let them in to seduce her husband.
“Next house.”
An hour later, Tang Ze had a triumphant smile on his face. He was finally going to win a bet.
“Since you have to dance, you should rehearse. It has to be something sexy and hot, like a K-pop dance group.”
He was already making demands. This was like an apocalyptic girl group.
Ye Qingyi pouted. “We haven’t lost yet.”
“Stubborn. If anyone opens the door these days, I’ll chop myself up.”
Xi Meng giggled. “Don’t do that, we won’t have any use for you then.”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t chop yourself up.”
Sun Ting agreed.
Tang Ze thought, In the past, they wouldn’t give me the time of day. Now, they’re all over me.
They arrived at a villa and Tang Ze knocked. “Is anyone home?”
Li Linger, inside, looked at the door with a hint of panic.
Sun Ting’s voice trembled slightly. “We’re refugees. Can we stay for a night?”
“Please.”
An Bai’s soft, tender, sticky-sweet voice was very persuasive.
Hearing the girls’ voices, Li Linger, still wrapped in her blanket, stood up, put on a mask, and went to the door.
Hearing the light footsteps, Tang Ze knew it was a woman inside. You’re walking right into the lion’s den.
But if he didn’t break down the door, he wouldn’t find the so-called celebrity. Forget it, breaking and entering in broad daylight wasn’t his style.
Li Linger looked through the peephole and saw five people in hazmat suits. They looked like a rescue team.
“Where are you from?”
Her voice sounded.
Tang Ze thought, Oh no, it’s a young girl. She’s not going to open the door out of pity, is she? She can’t be that stupid.
Ye Qingyi quickly replied, “We escaped from Shanhu Complex.”
“Was your complex looted by bad people?”
Xi Meng saw an opportunity. The girl’s voice was soft and gentle. “Yes, my parents were killed. We have nowhere to go. There are bad people on the road.”
Her words resonated with Li Linger. They didn’t seem like bad people. She unlocked the door.
Tang Ze, seeing the door slowly open, his eyebrows twitched. How do they always win?
