Chapter 87: The Second Time the Rain Stopped
“Actually, it wasn’t much talent, just adapting quickly and finding it fun.”
Sun Ting sighed. “Why didn’t I have that kind of luck? I can only scrape by in the live-streaming world.”
She said this, but she had been scouted before. The bosses, however, always had conditions, and what those conditions were, every man knew.
“Linger, you must have a big boss backing you up, right?”
Xi Meng peeled an orange, not for herself, of course. She had to take care of her Master at all times to be valued. After all, the women present were at least veterans.
Li Linger frowned and thought for a moment. “I don’t think so.”
“You haven’t been subjected to the ‘unspoken rules’?”
Ye Qingyi was incredulous. A beauty like Li Linger would definitely be a favorite of rich men.
“No. Master knows.”
Li Linger blushed again, not daring to meet Tang Ze’s gaze, like a newlywed bride.
Xi Meng hummed in acknowledgement. “I see. You must have a man who silently supports you, but before he could stand by your side, the apocalypse came.”
“And then I got lucky.”
Tang Ze chimed in.
An Bai added, “The boss must be crying in the bathroom.”
“Hahahaha!”
Everyone laughed, except for Li Linger, who was blushing furiously.
She didn’t want Tang Ze to misunderstand and quickly explained, “There’s no boss! You’re making it up…”
“Oh, she’s getting flustered~” Sun Ting’s words drew a chorus of long, drawn-out “eewws” from the other women.
This made Li Linger even more anxious. She looked at Tang Ze, her eyes pleading, I really don’t have a boss.
“Alright, you’re going to make her cry.”
Tang Ze waved his hand and chuckled.
Ye Qingyi sighed. “People are really infuriating. I was crying my eyes out, and Master’s heart was as hard as a stone. But when Linger gets a little flustered, you feel sorry for her.”
“Eeww…”
Another chorus of “eewws.” Tang Ze couldn’t help but smile wryly, and Li Linger, wringing her hands, lowered her head, her neck flushing red.
As they chatted, they didn’t notice the rain outside had stopped.
This was the second time the rain had stopped since the apocalypse began. And what did the end of the rain mean? Slaughter, plunder!
“Alright, since you’ve all said so, Little Linger, come sit on my lap. Let them be envious.”
The four women started cheering again, even whistling.
“Go on, don’t just stand there.”
Xi Meng patted the shy Li Linger.
Li Linger hummed in a barely audible voice and stood up, walking towards Tang Ze. He grabbed her hand and pulled her into his lap.
This caused an even bigger commotion, as if they were going to tear the roof off. Li Linger buried her face in his chest.
“Kiss, kiss!”
An Bai stood on the sofa, clapping and cheering. With her leading the way, the other three women joined in.
Tang Ze was a little embarrassed. They had been getting too bold lately. He would have to throw them some bones tomorrow.
He looked down at the beautiful face, her big, watery eyes slowly closing, her plump, cherry lips an infinite temptation, waiting for him.
Just as he was about to lean in for a taste, a sudden knock on the door broke the rhythm. He frowned and looked towards the door. Li Linger also opened her eyes, a hint of disappointment in them.
“It seems they can’t wait any longer.”
Xi Meng’s tone grew cold. Sun Ting had already taken out her pistol and checked the ammunition. Li Linger was stunned. They had guns!
Tang Ze patted Li Linger’s head, and she obediently sat beside him, whispering, “Why would someone come at this time?”
Ye Qingyi loaded her magazine and said calmly, “Because we’re the only place with lights on.”
“Alright, all of you put on your pajamas.”
Tang Ze instructed. With the heat on, they were all dressed so scantily. Did they think he couldn’t be tempted?
The girls obediently put on their pajamas and tidied their hair. They had to maintain their image.
Li Linger suggested, “Should we wear masks?”
Xi Meng patted her shoulder and smiled. “We’re so beautiful, why should we cover our faces?”
“But what if…”
“Kill them.”
Ye Qingyi said indifferently.
Sun Ting patted Li Linger’s head. “Your first lesson is about to begin.”
As they spoke, Tang Ze opened the door, and a blast of cold air rushed in.
He looked at the dozen or so men in front of him, all bundled up in thick down jackets, shivering. He gave them his signature friendly smile. “Gentlemen, what can I do for you so late at night?”
The men looked at him. In this cold weather, he was only wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Their feet were wrapped in plastic or plastic bags.
It makes sense. There’s electricity, so there must be a generator!
“Hello, my name is Zuo Zhixian. I live in the villa across the street. You might have seen me on TV.”
He adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and even struck a proud pose.
“Never seen you.”
Tang Ze said truthfully.
A young man behind him shouted, “Dude, you’re standing in front of the richest man in Hua’an City, and you don’t even know him? Are you blind?”
“Shut up!”
Zuo Zhixian snapped at his son.
Zuo Yong pouted, looking indifferent. His eyes, however, were on the modified Maybach, wondering how he could get his hands on it. It was so cool.
“I’m sorry, my son is just being a brat. Please forgive him.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. No problem.”
Tang Ze maintained his honest, humble demeanor.
But to these men, his attitude spelled two words:
Easy target.
“We didn’t come for anything else. We just wanted to ask, how do you have electricity here?”
Although Zuo Zhixian was smiling, his teeth were chattering. The temperature had dropped to -10°C, and a biting wind was blowing.
Tang Ze drew out an “oh”. “I bought a diesel generator.”
“I see. Is this your car too?”
“Yes, it is.”
The men were incredulous. How could this ordinary young man have so many supplies? Some of them knew he had come knocking on their doors before, dressed in a strange hazmat suit.
Looking at the shivering men, Tang Ze smiled. “Is there anything else? I was about to go to bed.”
One of the men in the group shouted, “Hey, can you let us in to warm up?”
With someone else speaking up, Zuo Zhixian put on a kind expression. “It’s not easy for anyone these days. The temperature has dropped so much, and we don’t have any electricity at home. Young man, could you let us in to rest for a bit? Don’t worry, we’ll just sit for a while and then leave.”
“Of course, please come in.”
Seeing his generosity, the men who hadn’t opened their doors earlier felt a pang of guilt.
As they entered, they were immediately enveloped in a wave of warmth, a comforting feeling like a mother’s embrace.
And were those… fairies?
Were they hallucinating from the cold?
