Impostor High Priest 8

Chapter 008: Conspiracy and Temptation

“Idiot, stop shouting,” Jakedo sneered. “Tyris is my family’s servant. I brought him along this time for support. The reason I didn’t reveal our relationship was to prepare for a day just like this.”

Just as Jakedo said, Tyris walked up from behind, bowed his head slightly, and said deferentially to Jakedo, “Young Master Jakedo, what should we do next?”

“Just sit to the side. I’ll handle it. I’ll reward you double when we get back.”

With just a few words, the fallen Raul’s heart turned completely cold.

Chen Ran sat to the side, completely stunned that something like this would happen.

He had only drunk a little of the tainted water. Although he felt a bit weak, for someone who grew up in a magical country where things like tainted milk powder and gutter oil were rampant, a little harmful substance was nothing in his eyes. But as a priest, there was really nothing useful he could do. He couldn’t take on both Jakedo and Tyris head-on. He could only wait for an opportunity and, in the meantime, use Heal and Divine Power to purge the drug from his system. Fortunately, Jakedo’s attention wasn’t on him at all right now.

Jakedo picked up a short sword, the very one that had been stabbed into the Saber-toothed Tiger King’s eye, still stained with the tiger’s blood. He stopped in front of Raul, toying with the blade, and said with annoyance, “Raul, you self-righteous fool. I haven’t liked you this entire trip. You’re really naive, thinking you can steal the woman I like just because you have a little bit of skill. This time, you can only blame your bad luck.”

Schlick!

The sound of a sharp blade piercing a heart. Raul stared in disbelief as the short sword in Jakedo’s hand pierced through his chest, opening a fatal, bloody hole from which fresh blood was now pouring.

“Goodbye, lovely Raul. Take your romance to meet God. Maybe Lia will be up to join you soon. Of course, before that, she’s going to have a lot of fun.”

Jakedo pulled out the short sword. A jet of blood instantly shot out, splattering all over him. His effeminate face now looked exceptionally sinister.

Then, Jakedo walked back to Lia, laughing almost madly as he caressed the side of her face.

“My dear, you have no idea how lovely you are,” Jakedo said, a morbid tenderness on his face. “You’re too stubborn. You can’t feel everything I’ve done for you. Now, I know I can never have your heart, but having your body might be some small compensation. Although, it’s a bit of a shame to only enjoy you once, and it doesn’t quite make up for all my efforts these past few days, but it will make me feel a little better…”

Rip!

With a rough tug, Lia’s top was torn open, revealing the crimson tube top underneath. Lia looked at Jakedo with shame and anger as he pathologically ripped her clothes. Her face was deathly pale, but she was helpless. At the same time, Jakedo was taking off his own clothes, about to pounce on her.

“Hold on a minute…”

A figure stood up. Chen Ran sighed and intervened at the right moment. By now, the last bit of the drug in his system had been completely purged.

With the Sacred Cross Emblem, he wasn’t that afraid of dying. After quickly considering his options, he decided to give it a try.

Jakedo’s expression was slightly surprised. He turned to look at Chen Ran and said, “Oh, Your Excellency Priest. I knew you didn’t drink much of the potion, but I didn’t expect you to recover so quickly.”

Seeing Chen Ran standing up unharmed, Jakedo’s expression quickly returned to normal. He stopped what he was doing to Lia and walked toward him. “Chen Ran, I don’t want to make things difficult for you this time. We still need you to get out of this forest. Of course, if you’ve also taken a fancy to this woman Lia, I can let you have your fun after I’m done. You can play any games you want, but her virginity must be taken by me.”

Chen Ran’s eyebrows twitched.

He had to admit, it was a very tempting offer.

Lia was very beautiful and well-developed, making it hard not to be captivated by her body. At this moment, Lia’s helpless and disheveled appearance was even more enticing, making one want to pounce on her, force her down, and ravage her.

Jakedo was smart. As a support priest with no attack abilities, Chen Ran posed no real threat, so he and Tyris had no intention of fighting him. And according to Jakedo’s plan, if Chen Ran had his way with Lia, he would essentially become an accomplice. He would be inseparable from the deaths of Raul and the others, and they would all be tied together.

Faced with this choice, under normal circumstances, if Chen Ran chose to accept, he could save his life and enjoy the pleasure of being a man. Most people would probably make the same choice. The alternative was death!

Chen Ran shook his head, a hint of a sigh in his voice. “Sorry. Although I don’t consider myself a good person, I really can’t bring myself to take advantage of someone in this situation. I can only appreciate your kind offer.”

He stood his ground, a look of calm on his face.

He might just be an otaku, but at least he had his pride. To get a girl through such means was something he couldn’t bring himself to do. Besides, right now, he wasn’t entirely without options.

Jakedo’s expression was slightly surprised. Chen Ran had actually refused. He was stunned for a moment, surprised by Chen Ran’s choice, but then he shrugged indifferently. “Well then, Your Excellency, the esteemed prospective High Priest, my apologies. I don’t want to leave any trouble behind, so I’ll have to ask you to return to the Lord’s embrace first.”

There was no more room for negotiation in his words. Jakedo simply thought that as a member of the clergy, Chen Ran was likely a man of devout faith, so he would genuinely grant him his wish. He gestured to Tyris. “Finish him, quickly.”

Tyris nodded and strode toward Chen Ran, wanting to take down this powerless priest in one go. But just then, a sudden, dazzling light flashed and blinded him…

And this blinding light, like a small sun, was the new skill Chen Ran had just activated.

Light Screen!

The principle of this skill was simply to emit a blinding light to cause temporary blindness, much like a flashbang. It was an important escape skill for priests in the early stages. The best counter was sunglasses. For an experienced survivalist who had played the game for years, he was quite adept at using this skill.

In the instant that Jakedo and Tyris were blinded, Chen Ran took off running. He had originally planned to escape alone, but after a moment’s thought, he couldn’t bear to leave his last companion behind.

Gritting his teeth, while the effect of the Light Screen was still active, he hoisted the immobilized Lia onto his back and fled into the distance.

By the time the effect of Chen Ran’s Light Screen gradually faded, Jakedo and Tyris’s vision slowly returned. Seeing the two figures escaping in the distance, Jakedo stomped his foot heavily and said angrily, “That guy isn’t fast, and he’s carrying someone. Let’s go after them! Kill them on sight!”

Chen Ran, who transmigrated over, would like to state that for a skilled profession like being an impostor priest, being shameless is nowhere near enough.

As a High Priest...

"Having no attack skills is indeed a major drawback," Chen Ran mused while casually buffing his underling to the max. The underling then easily cut down an expert two whole tiers stronger.

As it turns out, for trivial matters like fighting, there was no need for him to act personally at all.

As an all-around master of sub-professions...

"Sword Saint, let go! I use that specifically for cutting fruit!"

Unable to retrieve the fruit knife from the shameless Sword Saint even after pulling and kicking, Chen Ran then turned, his face full of dark lines, to see a Magus on the other side, hands trembling as he held up a magnificent staff tied with a bow. "Stop! I made that as a gift for your beautiful disciple!"
