345:
Deephearth.
Because it was close to a famous entrance to the Underdark, it was well known to adventurers and the people of other regions of the Material Plane. It was also the largest place for surface creatures and the Underdark to trade. Every year, hundreds of thousands of adventurers traveled between Deephearth and the Underdark, conducting trade and carrying out all sorts of high-difficulty missions.
And because of the excessive communication with the underground creatures from the Underdark, the folk customs of Deephearth were biased toward evil.
Although this place was not as full of assassination as a drow elf city, the crime rate was also always high, and it could rank at the forefront of the entire Prime Material Plane.
The ruling class of Deephearth had also been completely corrupted by the various evil god churches, so few good god churches were willing to get involved in this mess.
But in the past two years, some rather strange voices had appeared here…
A new church had joined forces with the church of the Dark Maiden to preach in Deephearth. The ideas they promoted were also relatively new to these people who had always accepted evil teachings: “Everyone’s life is precious, and those unnecessary killings should be stopped.”
“And one should rather devote one’s life to saving others and protecting their dignity.”
“There are also good beings among the drow elves.”
At the beginning, the people all thought they were joking. There were some who liked to watch the fun and were talkative, and they mocked them greatly. Some people even thought that this was a church that was easy to bully, and they had joined forces with a few evil god churches to attack them…
All the mocking voices had disappeared on that day, because all the people who had participated in the attack… had not come back alive.
Their heads were piled up in the center of the square of Deephearth. Anyone who dared to get close would become the next tip of the tower.
On this day, all the residents of Deephearth had understood one thing… this church might be good, but their goodness was with an incomparably sharp edge.
They were full of love for the innocent, but they had no compromise or pity for the evil.
This kind of crazed style was partly influenced by Shelley. And more was due to Klara’s avenger’s creed.
“Protect justice, eliminate evil.”
An avenger who abided by this belief understood better than anyone how much pride they would have if they compromised in the face of evil.
This [Undead Church], which did not know which god it believed in, had even seized the ruling power of Deephearth for a time.
They had not exterminated the nobles, but had just forbidden all their former privileges, including but not limited to killing in the city, sailors, the right of the first night…
Any noble who dared to resist, the end was only one, and that was to let the vultures in the square have another full meal.
But they had a completely opposite attitude toward the common people.
Although there were strict laws, the people were surprised to find that the public security in the city had become much better. They didn’t have to worry about being dragged into an alley when they went out at night, they didn’t have to worry about being wanted by the whole city for bumping into a noble, and they didn’t have to pay all sorts of complicated taxes…
For the first time, they felt that Deephearth seemed to be a very comfortable place to live.
For a time, these two churches had a very high reputation and prestige in Deephearth.
But their arrogance did not last long.
Not long ago, two evil god churches had encircled and annihilated them. The Hunting Church and the Pain Church, together with the noble forces of Deephearth, had carried out a siege in all parts of Deephearth.
Although there was no news of their casualties, they had disappeared from Deephearth, and no one had come out to preach again.
This point made the nobles, who had regained control of Deephearth for a long time, very gratified. They had brought back their old ways.
But this time, the effect was minimal…
An extremely strong resistance had appeared in Deephearth. Even the caravans from the Underdark had expressed their dissatisfaction. They were unwilling to pay a tax of up to forty percent.
And the resistance of these people was not something that two divine churches could directly suppress.
Although this riot had been suppressed by the joint forces of several noble families, the entire Deephearth had fallen into a tense atmosphere.
The situation… was on the verge of breaking out.
…
“My Lord, their reaction is indeed as you thought.”
“Praise the great my Lord.”
Liz was hiding in a cave outside of Deephearth. She looked at the statue before her and muttered, “The people who should have been oppressed again have learned to resist, because they have once seen the light.”
“And the arrogance of the nobles will intensify the already tense situation.”
“The time of the outbreak is coming soon.”
!!!
Liz’s eyes were suddenly covered, but she was only shocked for a moment and then smiled helplessly, “Katerina, I’m reporting to my Lord.”
Heeheehee.
“It’s alright. Anyway, Shelley won’t be angry.”
“And he can’t catch me now. Don’t be afraid of him.”
Katerina behind her didn’t care. She said to the statue with a grin, “Don’t you think so?”
The statue did not light up, but Katerina’s collar was directly grabbed from behind.
“How about you think about how to say it again?”
!!!
Katerina heard the gentle voice, and her whole person directly froze, like a cat being grabbed by the scruff of its neck by fate. She said to the back with a fawning smile, “Ahahaha…”
“You’re already here…”
How could this be?
Shelley was both speechless and amused by her reaction…
She’s so old. How can she be like a child?
But he wasn’t angry either. He had never ascended to godhood, and he didn’t see himself as a god, so he naturally didn’t have any feelings of being offended.
“There won’t be a next time.”
He gently patted Katerina’s butt, and then he put her down.
Unexpectedly looking at the blushing Katerina, who was covering her butt, he raised an eyebrow, but he didn’t care too much.
“It’s very soft, and the feel is very good.”
“I’ll find another chance next time.”
He muttered a sentence in a very small voice that only Katerina could hear, and then he watched her instantly turn into a black shadow and slip away.
“Unexpectedly pure.”
Shaking his head, he turned his head to the now-respectfully-prostrate Liz, gently nodded, and then said with a smile, “Get up. It’s not the first time we’ve met.”
Silently getting up, Liz looked at Shelley with an adoring gaze, her eyes as bright as two bright lamps in a cave.
So dazzling.
Shelley thought for a moment, reached out and gently stroked her silver hair, and said in a warm voice, “You’ve done very well. I’m very satisfied.”
!!!
The lights were even brighter.
He felt as if he could see the illusion of a tail wagging behind Liz…
“She’s a bit like Lilith at this time…”
Inconspicuously withdrawing the right hand that was on Liz’s head, Shelley asked, “…Have you gotten that thing?”
Although she was in a low mood because of Shelley’s withdrawal, Liz became serious when she talked about business. She said respectfully, “It has been successfully obtained. It’s with Klara now.”
