Chapter 81: Greater Dragon Ally Pact · Summon Silver Dragon!
“Are you… threatening us?”
Elena narrowed her eyes, glaring at the demon before her without a trace of fear. Although she was less than half the Balor’s height, her presence was not inferior in the slightest.
“Common tongue? I suppose that’s fine…” (in Abyssal)
“Yes! I am threatening you!”
The massive demonic wings flapped twice. It swung the huge greatsword in its hand, then flew into the sky, dodging an attack from Elena.
“I’m serious. I don’t particularly enjoy being summoned. If he hadn’t offered a legendary-tier soul as payment, I wouldn’t have bothered.”
“But now, his soul is not in my hands…”
Annoyed, it cracked its whip in the air. The Balor then grabbed a tree, crushed it in its hand, and burned it to ashes.
“I don’t care who interfered. I can’t come to the Material Plane and leave with nothing!”
“What’s your decision, mortals?”
A weakened legendary sorcerer, a warrior on the verge of legendary… Good. After I get the souls, I can leave this place easily.
Sensing the contempt in its posture, Elena felt the veins on her forehead begin to throb. She was just about to activate a new piece of equipment.
“You… huh!?”
Suddenly, the flesh golem, which had been standing motionless since William’s death, trembled.
All three of them turned their gazes to it at the same time. Then, they saw Shelley burst out from the flesh golem’s chest.
There was a large, gaping hole in Shelley’s chest, his heart nowhere to be seen. Blood stained the demonic tattoos on his upper body. But his expression was grim, showing no sign of his own pain. In his left hand, he held a shriveled head, and in his right, a crushed heart.
At this moment, Shelley looked tragic, but also breathtaking. Because the auras lingering on the two objects in his hands indicated…
Legendary!
“Hm? An incubus?”
“Is he a servant of the Queen of Succubi? But this aura… it’s not quite right.”
The Balor subconsciously looked at Shelley, who was shrouded in a murderous aura, and thought with some surprise.
The moment its attention shifted from Nadia to Shelley, Nadia’s suppressed magic suddenly erupted. She raised her right hand to the sky, her long-closed lips parted, and she shouted, “Heed my pact! Descend, allies of the half-elves!” (in Draconic)
[Greater Dragon Ally Pact · 9th Circle Spell: Summon a dragon with whom you have a pact (up to three) to fight for you. Corresponding payment will be made after the battle.]
What!?
The Balor looked in disbelief as the sorcerer before it suddenly became incredibly dangerous, as if a weak, easily bullied greater demon had suddenly transformed into a high and mighty demon prince.
“She’s not a newly-ascended legendary sorcerer! She’s at least a high-tier legendary!”
Vwoom!
The air began to vibrate violently with Nadia’s voice. An invisible force descended upon the battlefield.
Dragon fear!
No!
Greater dragon fear!
A massive rift tore open in the sky above Nadia’s finger.
A cross-planar summons!
ROAR!
A terrifying dragon’s roar came from the rift, instantly spreading throughout the entire forest. Even in the outer districts of Lunt, some domestic animals began to howl in fear. The citizens who faintly heard the roar suddenly found it difficult to breathe, their bodies stiffening in an instant.
“What’s happening!?”
“Something’s wrong!”
Rushing toward the battlefield, the steeds of Bishop William and his men all reared up, neighing in terror.
“It’s dragon fear!”
“Why is there a dragon here!?”
“Everyone, dismount!”
All the knights fought back their fear, struggling not to be thrown from their horses. Bishop William looked at the skeletal figures appearing at the edge of the darkness in the distance. His expression changed, and he suppressed the fear in his heart.
“Draw your weapons!”
“On guard!”
“The enemy has appeared!”
**
Three massive, silver-white figures flew out of the rift. They were of similar size, all adult silver dragons. The smooth lines of their muscles had a powerful beauty. Unlike the blue-gray scales with silver spots of a wyrmling, the individual scales of an adult silver dragon were almost indistinguishable. Their smooth skin was incredibly brilliant under the reflection of the flames, like beautiful statues carved from pure silver.
A silver dragon’s pupils grew lighter with age, eventually looking like orbs of mercury. To reiterate, a dragon, as long as it ate and slept enough… could sleep its way to legendary status.
(Shelley: I can also sleep my way to legendary!)
The three of them didn’t hesitate upon appearing. With their maws filled with icy dragon breath, they spread their wings and charged at the Balor in the sky.
“Damned sorcerer!”
This Balor was incredibly frustrated by the sudden turn of events. The sorcerer who had been at its mercy had suddenly become an extremely terrifying enemy and had summoned three dragons. The current situation was no longer about whether it could return to the Abyss… but whether it could even survive.
It flew angrily toward the three dragons, who were breathing icy dragon breath at it.
“Damned silver dragons!”
“Summon Demon!” (in Abyssal)
[Summon Demon · Special Ability: A Balor can automatically succeed in summoning 30 dretches, 3 balors, or 1 glabrezu, hezrou, marilith, or another Balor.]
An even larger Balor appeared in the sky. It looked more like the image from mortal stories than the previous one. Its muscles were burly and knotted, its body wreathed in fierce flames, and its massive eyes were filled with a desire to destroy all that was beautiful.
“Who summoned me!? Huh?”
Before it could figure out the situation, it felt three streams of icy dragon breath hit its body. It immediately roared in fury, “Die, insects!”
“Roar!”
It let out a meaningless roar, then attacked the three dragons that it despised.
Balor: Chaotic Evil.
Silver Dragon: Lawful Good.
A complete alignment conflict!
The intense alignment conflict made it attack immediately without asking any questions.
Roar, roar, roar!
The five figures in the sky clashed wildly, the massive impacts and explosions lighting up the sky.
An adult silver dragon’s attributes: Strength 27, Dexterity 10, Constitution 25, Intelligence 16, Wisdom 13, Charisma 21.
From the stats alone, it seemed that the silver dragons were inferior to the Balor. But as legendary creatures, none of them would die easily. And a silver dragon’s breath weapon was a cone of cold, which was more effective against a Balor than the breath weapons of other dragons.
**
Never expecting his appearance to be the catalyst for the battle, Shelley, ignoring the dragons and demons flying in the sky, staggered over to the two women.
“Shelley!” x2
Ignoring their worried gazes, Shelley knelt on one knee before them. He said weakly, “My time… is short…”
“I have something to say…”
