In the pitch-black space, the ornate pendulum clock suddenly vanished. The heart that had been missing from his chest reappeared. The ticking sound transformed into a vigorous heartbeat.

Seriously, that was the closest Shelley had ever come to death. Almost killed by his own woman!

Well, that widow wasn’t a widow, and the kidnapping wasn’t a kidnapping. But the psychological trauma… there’s still a little bit.
