Chapter 64: “Need Me to Teach You?”
The snow fell faster and faster.
After a brief moment of thought, Ming Fei relented: “Okay, then I’ll have to trouble you.”
“It’s no trouble at all, Teacher Ming, please get in.”
“Mm.”
The address Ming Fei gave was a high-end residential area some distance away from the villa area. A polite smile lingered on her lips. As she approached the hovercar and closed her umbrella, she saw Xu Zhou in the back seat as soon as she got in.
Sitting next to Xu Zhou, who was dressed lightly in only a haute couture coat, Ming Fei looked like a bundled-up, fluffy little bear.
Her almond eyes curved slightly: “President Xu.”
“Mm.”
The black hovercar sped onto the hover track like a shadow. Ming Fei was very composed, and Xu Zhou was a woman of few words, so she didn’t initiate any conversation, even though countless questions filled her mind.
The main urban area was bustling and dreamlike, with brilliant lights. As the hovercar crossed the Floating Shore Bridge, Ming Fei started to feel a little hot.
At the same time, she received a video call invitation from Ming Zaozao. Because Ming Fei had been getting off work very late recently, Ming Zaozao, worried that she wasn’t eating properly, would make a short video call to her at this time every day, asking if she had dinner, how long it would take her to get home, and finally, like a little adult, reminding her to be careful on her way back.
The current situation wasn’t very suitable for a video call.
Ming Fei was about to decline the call and send a text message instead, but Assistant Dan in the front suddenly spoke to her, and she accidentally answered the call. Ming Zaozao’s voice immediately rang out in the hovercar.
“Mommy!”
“Mm, Zaozao.” Ming Fei responded to Ming Zaozao first, then turned and explained, “President Xu, do you mind if I take this video call? It will be over soon.”
Xu Zhou’s expression was indifferent: “As you wish.”
Just as she finished speaking, Ming Zaozao on the other end of the video saw her and, holding a kitten, called out happily,
“Auntie! We meet again~”
Ming Fei, slightly socially anxious, hesitantly looked at Xu Zhou. Unlike what she had imagined, Xu Zhou didn’t ignore or dismiss her, but put down the document she was reading and looked at Ming Zaozao in the video.
“Mm, we meet again.”
Ming Zaozao smiled sweetly and introduced her new companions to Xu Zhou.
“Auntie, this is Kitty, her name is Yuan Yuan. This is Doggy, his name is Tuan Tuan.” The kitten jumped down from Ming Zaozao’s arms, and she looked at the two people in the video and asked, “Auntie, do you like small animals?”
Assistant Dan in the front perked up her ears.
All the employees of the Luci Group knew that President Xu never wasted time on anything outside of work and never touched the expensive gifts sent by business partners. Therefore, no one knew her preferences.
But facing the child’s question in the video, she actually said—
“I do.”
Assistant Dan was shocked.
Ming Zaozao cheered excitedly: “Baby loves going to the zoo the most, Auntie, do you want to go with Baby?”
Hearing this, Ming Fei, sitting beside her, felt the need to change the subject, because Ming Zaozao had a good memory and would take what adults said seriously. In her opinion, Xu Zhou only answered “yes” to avoid upsetting the child, and her liking might not be the same as Ming Zaozao’s.
Just as she was about to change the topic, Xu Zhou answered first.
“I do.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Ming Zaozao smiled radiantly, her happiness evident.
“Then can we add each other… um, on chat? Baby will send Auntie a message when we go.”
“Mm.”
In just a few minutes, the highest authority of the Luci Group had become friends with Ming Zaozao, while Ming Fei, who scored low in social skills, was stiff as a wooden figure.
After Ming Zaozao finished chatting, she then asked Ming Fei if she had dinner and how long it would take her to get home. Ming Fei answered the first question with certainty, but was vague about the second.
Ming Zaozao didn’t notice and, after waving goodbye to the two of them, went to play with Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan.
After the video call ended, silence returned to the car. Ming Fei’s thoughts raced, wanting to ask something, but unable to speak because of their unfamiliar relationship and her perhaps far-fetched guess.
Fortunately, the hovercar soon arrived at the address she had given. She politely said goodbye to the two and got out of the car with her umbrella.
After Ming Fei’s figure disappeared, Assistant Dan still didn’t understand her boss’s intention in suddenly offering a ride.
And not long after Ming Fei left, Xu Zhou noticed a hair tie left on the seat. This hair tie clearly belonged to Ming Zaozao, because the style was very cute and childish. Perhaps because Ming Fei had tied it loosely, the hair tie had fallen off without her hair completely coming undone, so she hadn’t noticed when she left.
Xu Zhou stared at it for a full minute.
The identical birthmark behind Ming Fei’s ear flashed before her eyes.
And the inexplicable strangeness she felt every time they met.
This indescribable strangeness had even made her impulsively wait for half an hour on campus, just to give Ming Fei a ride home after work.
It was strange.
She certainly knew that Ming Fei was Zhu Yiqiao’s partner, and the strangeness she felt towards Ming Fei wasn’t because of any other intentions, but this strange sense of closeness was hard to ignore. She even felt a natural closeness to Ming Fei’s daughter, Ming Zaozao.
Why?
Thinking of something, her eyes darkened.
Then—
Her long, cold, white hand with distinct knuckles picked up the hair tie with a cherry charm and two strands of hair wrapped around it.
After Ming Fei got out of the car and reached the back gate of the residential area, she sent a message to 0619.
Within five minutes, a hovercar from the villa stopped under the streetlight ahead. Ming Fei tightened her scarf, quickly walked to the hovercar, got into the driver’s seat, and drove back to the villa.
Actually, when they first moved into the villa, Zhu Yiqiao had provided her with three multi-functional hovercars of different colors, each costing around fifteen million. Of course, she had refused, but it was a done deal. By the time she knew about it, the three hovercars had already been parked in the garage.
But she had never used them. Now, because of the change in circumstances, she sent a message to 0619 to connect to the hovercar’s control system.
The hovercar was very fast.
In no time, she was back at the villa.
Ming Zaozao was playing happily with Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan. Seeing her return, she immediately put down Yuan Yuan and rushed towards her. Ming Fei caught her in a hug, pinched her chubby cheeks, and carried her inside.
“Mommy~”
“Mm?”
“When will Pretty Auntie be back?”
“Mommy doesn’t know the exact time,” Ming Fei said thoughtfully, “But probably in the next two days.”
Ming Zaozao then recounted a few funny stories about feeding Yuan Yuan dried fish today. It wasn’t until she watched Ming Fei finish her daily tonic soup that she took Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan to the toy room to play.
Ming Fei went to the bathroom for a bath first.
While combing her hair before the bath, she realized that her hair tie was missing. She checked the surveillance but couldn’t find where it had fallen off, guessing that she might have lost it outside. She didn’t pay much attention to it, because Ming Zaozao had two of each hair tie style.
She would explain it to Zaozao later and buy another box of the latest winter children’s hair accessories. She thought.
After finishing her bath and drying her hair, Ming Fei went to the study.
Sitting at her desk, Ming Fei glanced at the pheromone levels on her bracelet. The temporary marking was indeed effective, her gland hadn’t hurt during this time, and everything was very stable.
Besides, she had also asked Zhu Yiqiao, who was in Moli, and learned that her pheromone levels were also stable.
Ming Fei smiled.
She opened her phone, found Xue Xun’s contact information, and after preparing what she wanted to say, dialed her number.
The call connected instantly.
Ming Fei heard Xue Xun’s voice, laced with a smile.
“Good evening, Xiao Fei.”
Ming Fei asked politely as usual, “Xue Xun Jiejie, have you had dinner yet?”
“Of course, at this hour.”
“Then are you free tomorrow?”
Xue Xun’s tone rose: “No, I’m not. The group is holding a board meeting tomorrow, and I have to attend. But I’ll have plenty of time starting the day after tomorrow. What’s up, Xiao Fei? Tell me, your Xue Xun Jiejie still has five minutes before she has to get busy, and I can listen to you talk about you and Yiqiao during these five minutes.”
“Then can I visit you the day after tomorrow?” Ming Fei explained, “This matter can’t be explained clearly over the phone.”
“Sure, then bring Zaozao to my house to play the day after tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
As the call ended, Ming Fei belatedly thought, why did Xue Xun say she could listen to her talk about her and Zhu Yiqiao?
There wasn’t anything between her and Zhu Yiqiao.
Besides, she cherished her friendship with Zhu Yiqiao very much, so much so that she wanted to put it in a crystal box and treasure it, like a rare gem. She thought.
Because she had switched classes with another teacher the day before yesterday, and the lab matters were all cleared up, Ming Fei could stay home and rest today.
When she got up for breakfast, 0619 started playing the cheerful tune “Sweet Love.”
Ming Fei found it a little strange, because ever since she had praised 008 for playing “Good Friends Walk Together Forever,” 0619 played “Sweet Love” every day, even the Bougainvillea flowers outside the window seemed to be swaying to the sweet melody.
She guessed that 0619 must have recently watched some romantic movies and become obsessed with this song.
While she was thinking, 0619 asked, “Teacher Xiao Fei, what do you think of this song?”
Ming Fei replied without hesitation: “It’s good.”
0619’s eyes turned into stars. Just as 008 was about to play “Good Friends Walk Together Forever,” it quickly played “You Don’t Know My Feelings,” “How Can I Express Myself,” “I Want to Be with You Forever”…
Ming Fei quickly escaped the song battle between the two robots.
On a whim, she went to the shooting range on the first floor. This was her first time entering; she usually only exercised in the gym next door.
The room was warm as spring. Ming Fei played with the simulated electronic gun, and after one round, took off her cardigan, leaving only a black camisole. Her broad shoulders, narrow waist, and delicate collarbone were clearly visible. Her arms, seemingly slender, showed beautiful and smooth muscle lines when holding the gun, quite different from her usual image on the podium.
As if she had transformed from a simple ink landscape painting into a vibrant and colorful oil painting.
The simulated gun’s bullet pierced the air and hit the target. Ming Fei, wearing goggles, smiled.
She fired two more bullets, hitting the six and eight rings respectively. For an ordinary person without systematic training, this was already a very good result.
As she aimed at the target again, preparing to aim for the nine or ten ring, a voice came from behind her.
“Need me to teach you?”
Ming Fei looked back and saw Zhu Yiqiao, who had returned at some point, standing by the door, calmly observing her.
Twins?
