Gu Xizhou didn’t even bother washing her clothes. She grabbed the pale, chubby female classmate and barreled straight toward the dormitory.
Along the way, they passed many students washing clothes with washbasins in front of the sinks. Seeing the little bean dragging a human steam bun angrily toward the dormitory, they all shrank back in fright and started gossiping with their companions.
What’s the drama this time?
With a dark expression, Gu Xizhou marched all the way to the second large dorm room. Her gaze cut through the rows of single-person camp beds, landing sharply on Su Nanfeng in the corner.
This dormitory had a hundred camp beds, meaning a hundred female alpha students were housed here. As luck would have it, Gu Xizhou and Su Nanfeng had been assigned to the same dormitory.
Some students were quick; they had already finished washing their clothes and returned to the dorm. Seeing Gu Xizhou dragging a classmate straight to Su Nanfeng, no one dared to breathe too loud.
Su Nanfeng was sitting on her underling’s bed with her arms crossed, coldly watching the underling make her bed. Hearing the commotion, she turned her head to look at Gu Xizhou.
Seeing her with wet hair, wearing half-damp clothes, hauling someone over, Su Nanfeng narrowed her eyes.
What’s up with the midget? Coming to pick a fight?
Su Nanfeng’s premonition proved true. As soon as Gu Xizhou arrived, she slammed the white, chubby classmate’s washbasin against Su Nanfeng’s bed frame with a bang. “Did you put someone up to this?!” she demanded fiercely.
The noise was so loud that even the person making Su Nanfeng’s bed trembled.
Su Nanfeng was also a bit stunned. She looked at Gu Xizhou’s small face, half-hidden by wet hair, completely baffled.
When she didn’t speak, Gu Xizhou’s anger surged. She slammed the basin again, her voice rising: “Su Nanfeng! Did you tell this classmate to splash water on me in the shower?! My pajamas are soaking wet!”
The little bean was like an artillery shell; the moment she fired, everyone fell silent.
The dormitory instantly quieted down. Every conversation and movement became cautious. It was so silent, you could hear a pin drop.
Su Nanfeng hugged her arms and scoffed. “What, are you going to pin everything on me now?”
Seeing her act this way, Gu Xizhou’s fury burned hotter. “So you’re saying it wasn’t you?”
Su Nanfeng remained as calm as ever. “If I did it, I’ll admit it. If I didn’t, I won’t.”
Gu Xizhou spat. “You never admitted to the things you did before! Who are you trying to fool? Besides you, who here would bully someone like this!”
Ding Yi, standing nearby, chimed in with a sarcastic drawl: “Who knows? With a personality as annoying as yours, you might have offended someone without even realizing it.”
The people around Su Nanfeng subtly moved to stand behind her, using their numbers to silently pressure Gu Xizhou.
A week ago, Gu Xizhou might have been scared. But now? She wasn’t afraid of a damn thing.
Gu Xizhou’s hand gripping the basin tightened. She whipped her head toward Ding Yi, her gaze unwavering. “You did this!”
Ding Yi looked utterly nonchalant, replying lazily, “Who are you, exactly… that I would go to such lengths…”
Gu Xizhou couldn’t be bothered with her nonsense. She turned to the pale, chubby classmate she had dragged over, her voice deep: “I don’t know what you were thinking. Maybe you were being bullied, threatened, that’s why you did this to me.”
“If you are being bullied, contact your parents, get help from a teacher. Don’t lay your hands on innocent classmates.”
“I won’t hold this against you this time. But only this once. No next time.”
Having said her piece, Gu Xizhou let go of the girl’s hand, shoved the basin back into her arms, and turned to leave.
The classmates who had expected a fight watched her skinny, frail back, puzzled. She saw there were too many people, so she’s not going to make a fuss?
Even Ding Yi, standing with her arms crossed beside Su Nanfeng, watched Gu Xizhou leave and snorted coldly. “She knows when to quit.”
She’ll get what’s coming to her tomorrow.
Su Nanfeng knew exactly what was going on. She looked up and shot a sharp glare at Ding Yi, her tone icy: “Stop provoking her.”
Gu Xizhou was a ticking time bomb. She was currently trying to behave, and Su Nanfeng didn’t want the mess getting back to her mother and little sister, making them ignore her again.
Ding Yi raised a hand to scratch her face, mumbling awkwardly: “I was just trying to get some payback for you…”
—
Gu Xizhou could hold a grudge. She went back to the bathroom, washed her clothes, hung them up, filled a basin with water, and returned to the dorm, placing it under her bed.
At 11:30 PM, the bell rang. All the dorm lights went out. Under the instructors’ watch, the students got into their beds and lay down.
In the pitch-black night, light from the military base’s beacon tower shone through the window, casting a clear glow across the large dormitory room.
The sound of classmates snoring rose and fell in waves. Gu Xizhou pressed a fist over her heart, silently counting the time in the darkness.
0820 told her: “About time. Get up.”
Only then did Gu Xizhou carefully lift her blanket and get up. She took the basin of water from under her bed, and in the darkness, guided by the dim light, padded barefoot to the head of Su Nanfeng and Ding Yi’s beds.
In the dark night, she stood silently at the bedside, staring fixedly at Su Nanfeng’s face.
Su Nanfeng hadn’t really been asleep. Sensing something was wrong, she quickly opened her eyes. At that very moment, a basin of cold water came splashing down from the head of the bed.
Su Nanfeng was drenched, her face and hair soaked instantly, the entire head of her bed wet.
She was completely stunned. What was happening? A scream involuntarily tore from her lips: “Ahh—!”
The sound, like a sudden thunderclap, instantly shattered the night’s silence.
Next to her, Ding Yi was jolted awake by the scream, scrambling to get up: “What is it, what’s wrong…”
Before she could finish, a basin of cold water was poured over her head. The wet, icy sensation immediately made her shriek: “AHHHHHHHHH…”
Seizing the opportunity, Gu Xizhou slammed the basin down on her head while she was screaming, hitting her again and again with wham wham wham until Ding Yi was covering her head and scurrying away.
In her mind, 0820 applauded: “Well done, well done!”
“Hit louder! Make sure everyone knows!”
The previously quiet dormitory erupted into chaos. With a click, the dorm lights flicked on, illuminating everything in the corner.
Ding Yi, finally reacting, scrambled up from the floor, her hair a wet mess. She lunged at Gu Xizhou, pinning her down and brawling. “You dead midget!”
“F your mom! You’re dead meat!”
Gu Xizhou lay beneath her, and under 0820’s guidance, her hands and legs locked Ding Yi tightly, preventing her from landing any real blows.
Ding Yi, nose bleeding, black hair flying, swung her fists uselessly, cursing like a madwoman: “You’re f dead!”
“You’re dead!”
Gu Xizhou held her down firmly, her gaze icy as she replied flatly: “Oh… if you’ve got the guts, kill me.”
“Pull a stunt like this again, and I’ll strangle you in your sleep.”
As she spoke, her gaze drifted to Su Nanfeng, who was sitting on the bed nearby. Her stare was so fierce it looked like she wanted to kill someone.
A sudden chill ran down Su Nanfeng’s spine. A verdict formed in her mind: Mad dog.
Never provoke her again.
