It was called the rest room attached to the president’s office, but the interior space wasn’t small at all—one living room, one bathroom, one bedroom. It wasn’t much different from an ordinary single apartment.
After finishing lunch in the living room, Lu Wuqi and Tang Yuxu took turns washing up simply. They changed into pajamas and lay down on the bed for a nap.
Runyu Technology followed a nine-to-six work schedule, and the lunch break was always two hours, regardless of winter or summer time.
Eating and washing up took nearly half an hour, and they would chat for a bit before napping, so the actual sleep time was around forty minutes—very healthy.
“Wuqi, how did the morning’s work feel? Are you adapting?” After the one-thirty alarm woke them, Tang Yuxu opened her eyes first and picked up the topic they hadn’t finished before the nap.
“Pretty good. The colleagues are all very friendly. They even invited me to eat in the cafeteria earlier.” Lu Wuqi was a bit reluctant to open her eyes.
Her hands groped around at her sides until they found Tang Yuxu’s body. She quickly snuggled over and rubbed her face against it.
The smile in Tang Yuxu’s eyes became more obvious. “If you eat with me, won’t it affect how you get along with your colleagues?”
“That’s not important. I just want to be with Sis.” Lu Wuqi buried her head in Tang Yuxu’s body, letting her nose and brain fill up with her scent.
Because of the position, Lu Wuqi’s voice came out a little muffled, but a satisfied expression appeared on her face.
This was too blissful. Working at the same company as Sis meant they could commute together, eat lunch together, and even nap together.
Tang Yuxu didn’t continue asking. She just slowly ran her fingertips along Lu Wuqi’s hair, indulging her as she buried herself for ten minutes before finally speaking up.
“Alright, it’s almost time for afternoon work. Go wash your face and change clothes.” Tang Yuxu pinched her little girlfriend’s ear. “It’s your first day on the job—remember to perform well and not leave a bad impression on your boss.”
Lu Wuqi reluctantly lifted her head and tilted it as she looked at Tang Yuxu. “Sis, does this boss include you?”
“Naturally. I’m your direct superior, so of course I’m your boss too.” Tang Yuxu threw off the thin blanket covering her and walked to the closet, where she started changing clothes with her back to Lu Wuqi.
“If you’re feeling low-energy this afternoon, you can order some… milk tea. Invite your colleagues to have some too—I’ll reimburse the cost.” Tang Yuxu paused as she said this.
She had originally planned to suggest coffee, but remembering that her girlfriend didn’t like the bitterness, she changed it to milk tea, which young people generally enjoyed.
“What about you, Sis? What do you like? I’ll order some for you too.” Lu Wuqi quickly hopped off the bed. She helped lift her sister’s long hair that was tucked into her shirt and even straightened out the collar for her.
I don’t need any—my assistant will brew coffee for me.
That was what Tang Yuxu had meant to say, but the words circled around once more in her mind before coming out completely different.
“I usually drink coffee. The company has a coffee machine, so no need to order delivery.” Tang Yuxu paused. “It’s a bit bitter. If you want to try it, I’ll brew a cup for you tomorrow at noon.”
“Then Sis, remember not to drink too much coffee. One cup a day at most.” Lu Wuqi reminded her. She turned around to button the top two buttons for Tang Yuxu and smoothed out the wrinkles on her shoulders.
“Got it. Coffee isn’t a necessity for me—I only have it about three times a week.” Tang Yuxu’s voice softened a touch, carrying a hint of helplessness. “Those two days when you were here before, I only drank one cup. Did you forget?”
“But when you work overtime, Sis, it’s definitely more than one cup a day.” Lu Wuqi emphasized.
“Warm reminder: It’s already one-fifty. I can just wash my face and head out to work, but you still need to take the elevator to the twenty-fifth floor and get to your workstation.” Tang Yuxu immediately changed the subject.
“Fifty already?” Lu Wuqi froze for a moment. She didn’t suspect that Tang Yuxu was lying to tease her.
Without even grabbing her phone from the nightstand to check the time, Lu Wuqi dashed straight to the closet. She frantically stripped off her pajamas and changed into her office-appropriate shirt and pants.
“Sis, what time is it now? I should still have time to wash my face, right?” Lu Wuqi said in a fluster as she started putting on her shoes.
“Mm, probably still around fifty.” Tang Yuxu drawled slowly. When she saw Lu Wuqi—who was half-crouching on the floor—look up at her, a clear spark of amusement appeared in her eyes.
“I didn’t check my phone either. I was just estimating the time earlier.” Tang Yuxu’s tone grew a bit more serious as she picked up her phone and glanced at the exact time.
“It’s one forty-nine now. You’ve got eleven minutes left, Wuqi.” Tang Yuxu paused. “Next time, remember to plan your time ahead. Don’t rush around in a panic—learn to schedule properly in advance.”
After putting on her shoes and straightening up, Lu Wuqi heard this and immediately understood what her sister meant.
Sis had deliberately teased her just now—one, to see her in a fluster, and two, to give her a little lesson and help her develop a habit of paying more attention to time.
“Good, ten minutes is plenty.” Lu Wuqi darted into the bathroom to tidy her appearance.
Taking advantage of Tang Yuxu not noticing, Lu Wuqi cupped her sister’s face and planted a kiss on her lips. Then she waved goodbye. “See you after work this afternoon, Sis~”
Tang Yuxu touched her lips, a flash of amusement in her eyes.
Had her little girlfriend forgotten something? The lipstick on her mouth had just been applied. Kissing that hard and then running off—wasn’t that going to cause a problem?
–
Was it going to cause a problem? Of course it was!
Lu Wuqi made it back to her workstation five minutes before work started. But just as she opened her computer to continue brainstorming her new ideas, Ji Jingjing—sitting next to her—lightly bumped her arm.
“Little Lu, your lipstick looks like it got smudged.” Ji Jingjing reminded her in a low voice.
“Hm? Lipstick?” Lu Wuqi blinked. She hadn’t put on any lipstick, so how could it be…
“I get it. Thanks.” Realizing what she’d done earlier, Lu Wuqi quickly caught on. She gave a light cough. “Sister Ji, do you have a mirror I could borrow?”
“Sure, here.” Ji Jingjing handed over a compact mirror readily. “You’ve got three minutes till work starts. You can touch up your makeup quick.”
“Okay, thanks.” Lu Wuqi thanked her again.
She opened the mirror and saw the lipstick mark that had smeared beyond her lips. First, she wiped it with her fingertip and stared at the trace for a moment. Then she pulled out a wet wipe and carefully cleaned the mark off her lips.
Lu Wuqi didn’t usually wear much makeup. Her bare face was already stunning—she just needed basic skincare before heading out.
With one minute left until work, Lu Wuqi pulled out her phone. Her fingers tapped rapidly on the virtual keyboard as she used the last bit of time to lodge her complaint.
Lu Wuqi: Sis, why didn’t you remind me you had lipstick on? My colleagues saw the mark on my mouth.
Tang Yuxu: I wanted to say something, but a certain little kid didn’t give me the chance. You kissed and bolted.
Lu Wuqi: You could’ve just messaged me, Sis.
Tang Yuxu: [Sneaky Cat Meme]
Lu Wuqi: Work time’s here, Sis. I’m gonna work hard. I won’t embarrass you.
Seeing the familiar emoji, Lu Wuqi quickly pocketed her phone. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught the computer clock in the bottom right changing from 13:59 to 14:00.
Work time. Time to get to it. Forget the lipstick smudge and the sneaky cat.

Lu Wuqi quickly got into the work groove. Supervisor Hao had assigned her to draft a rough framework based on the materials, which wasn’t difficult for her at all.
She’d finished the prep work that morning, and sorting out the basic outline took about two hours.
Since it was the first task from her boss, wouldn’t it be better to complete it more thoroughly? Lu Wuqi touched her chin and soon started refining it.
During this, she took a moment to ask her office colleagues about their preferences. She spent nearly two hundred yuan on ten cups of milk tea, earning plenty of thanks and noticeably warming up the atmosphere.
She typed away until five-thirty, gave what she’d written a quick once-over, and sent it to Supervisor Hao at thirty-five minutes past.
Slacking off during work hours wasn’t great, but once the job was done, a little web surfing was fine.
Lu Wuqi leaned back relaxedly in her chair, pulled out her phone, and opened a social platform. She started checking the day’s trending news and some lingering celebrity gossip.
The top hot topics were still about that A-list celeb—behind-the-scenes clips and variety show segments, mostly propped up by water armies.
After scrolling down a bit, a trending entry about a tech exhibition caught Lu Wuqi’s eye.
The expo was slated for the National Day holiday period. Not only would high-level national leaders inspect it, but some foreign guests would be invited too.
It looked like the country planned to show off its latest tech, but to reduce any targeting or backlash, they’d also invite the top fifty tech companies in the industry.
Runyu Technology couldn’t compare to those state-controlled giants, but it was top-tier in civilian applications. Its last overall ranking had been in the twenties somewhere, so it would likely make the invite list.
While Lu Wuqi was browsing the related official documents, Ji Jingjing and Fan Xiaoxiao—who had temporarily finished their tasks—were sneakily private chatting on their phones.
Ji Jingjing: The forum says that out of the five new hires today, ours is the only one who didn’t go to the cafeteria. Instead, she went to meet some so-called “friend.” You think it could be…
Fan Xiaoxiao: Maybe she’s trying to hide her background? Little Lu bought us milk tea and works super seriously. Doesn’t seem like nepotism vibes to me.
Ji Jingjing: Should we invite Little Lu to dinner with us later? We can’t just drink her milk tea for free, right?
Fan Xiaoxiao: Don’t rush. Let’s observe a bit more. Dinner invites are better for Friday. Monday through Thursday evenings are for proper rest.
Ji Jingjing: Makes sense. I’ll follow your lead!
Lu Wuqi didn’t notice her two female colleagues discussing her. Finding it inconvenient to read on her phone, she opened the relevant site on her computer and carefully reviewed the detailed schedule and tentative invite list.
Buzz buzz—buzz buzz—
The alarm Lu Wuqi had set went off right on time at six in the afternoon.
She shut it off casually, then without hesitating a second, closed all the tabs and programs on her computer, powered it down crisply, and snapped the lid shut.
She shoved her phone into her small crossbody bag and stood up from her workstation, ready to clock out.
“See you tomorrow.” Lu Wuqi pushed her chair back into place. Seeing Ji Jingjing and Fan Xiaoxiao looking at her, she gave them a relatively friendly smile.
“Sure, see you tomorrow.” Ji Jingjing responded on reflex, just watching as Lu Wuqi left without looking back.
Once Lu Wuqi’s figure vanished from sight, Ji Jingjing couldn’t help nudging her chair over with her foot and scooting up to Fan Xiaoxiao’s side.
“Little Lu clocks out right on the dot. The supervisor hasn’t even left yet.” Ji Jingjing said in a low voice.
Fan Xiaoxiao pushed up her glasses. “Probably because she’s new and the supervisor hasn’t assigned her much yet, so she can leave on time.”
Ji Jingjing nodded slowly. “Makes sense. Still, Little Lu’s impressive. When I was interning, I wasn’t that bold. Even with nothing to do, I’d stick around ten or twenty minutes past.”
Fan Xiaoxiao didn’t commit either way. “They’re saying young people are rectifying the workplace these days. Maybe Little Lu’s one of them.”
“You can’t say that. We get overtime pay, and President Tang really cares about us. After a while, you can even get dinner and cab fare reimbursed.” Ji Jingjing lowered her voice.

As the first to clock out on the dot, Lu Wuqi had the elevator all to herself on the way down.
Originally, Lu Wuqi had planned to head to the underground garage to wait for Tang Yuxu. But after seeing the message pop up on her phone, she quickly changed her plans and went to the first floor instead.
A minute later, Lu Wuqi smoothly arrived on the first floor and walked out of the company gates.
She didn’t even need to look for the car. Tang Yuxu’s dedicated driver had already pulled up right at the exit. As soon as Lu Wuqi stepped out, she spotted it.
“Sister.” When she saw the rear window roll down, Lu Wuqi broke into a smile and hurried over to the car. She quickly pulled open the door and got in.
“Mm, hard work at the office today.” Tang Yuxu said, casually slipping a fruit candy into Lu Wuqi’s hand.
“Thanks, Sister.” Lu Wuqi took it, tore open the wrapper, and popped the candy into her mouth. “Sister, how come you’re waiting for me on the first floor today instead of the underground garage?”
“It’s more convenient this way.” Tang Yuxu didn’t elaborate.
That morning, she’d chosen the underground garage purely to help Lu Wuqi keep her identity under wraps, avoiding the “nepo baby” label on her very first day.
But considering how Lu Wuqi showed up right on time every day for lunch and naps, Tang Yuxu felt that precaution had been a bit unnecessary.
She didn’t mind going public with her relationship with Lu Wuqi, and Lu Wuqi didn’t care about the opinions of irrelevant people.
