Chapter 16: Her Face Was So Red Part 1

Miao Zhu usually kept a regular schedule and rarely stayed up late. This time, after disrupting her biological clock, she slept especially deeply. The alarm rang several times before she struggled to open her eyes. Once she realized she was in Mu Shanyi’s bed, she hurriedly grabbed her phone to turn off the alarm.

It was almost ten in the morning. She had slept for more than six hours, and the room was still dark. Using the faint glow from her phone screen, Miao Zhu turned her face to check if she had disturbed Mu Shanyi. But the other side of the bed was empty—Mu Shanyi wasn’t there.

The house was quiet. She didn’t know if Mu Shanyi had left.

Miao Zhu sat up, her mind still a bit foggy. She sat there blankly for a moment before tentatively reaching up to touch her ear.

It was too exaggerated…

The responses she had given to Mu Shanyi—those embarrassing reactions—were completely beyond her self-perception.

That dazed infatuation must have been because she was exhausted, her senses amplified. When sober, she probably wouldn’t be like that.

Yeah.

—Stop it.

Miao Zhu got out of bed and headed to the bathroom with her phone in hand. As she walked, she checked the flight information Sheng Xingran had sent her. There were less than four hours until takeoff. Her luggage was back at the dorm, and she had plenty of time to go get it.

When Mu Shanyi entered the room, Miao Zhu was standing in front of the mirror, brushing her long hair.

Mu Shanyi turned on the light in front of the mirror. Under the soft glow, her dark hair draped over her shoulders, accentuating her graceful figure.

Their gazes met in midair. Mu Shanyi walked toward Miao Zhu. “Awake?”

“Sister A-Heng, good morning.” Miao Zhu felt a bit awkward, her tone not entirely natural.

Mu Shanyi stopped behind Miao Zhu and took the wooden comb from her hand. “Did you sleep well?”

Miao Zhu: “…Good.”

Mu Shanyi’s fingers threaded through Miao Zhu’s hair, combing it slowly and leisurely. “The housekeeper sent your dress from yesterday to be cleaned. You can leave me a delivery address, and the shop staff will send it over once it’s done.”

As Mu Shanyi spoke, she looked up, meeting Miao Zhu’s eyes in the mirror. Miao Zhu looked back at her. “Okay.”

Mu Shanyi: “You can wear my clothes when we go out later.”

Miao Zhu: “Okay.”

It was just some simple conversation, and Mu Shanyi’s demeanor wasn’t particularly enthusiastic, but Miao Zhu’s mind kept flashing back to the images of them kissing, that soul-stirring sensation still fresh in her memory.

She kept zoning out.

Mu Shanyi set down the comb.

In the mirror, her gaze slowly shifted downward, tracing over the bridge of Miao Zhu’s nose before settling on her cherry-red lips.

Miao Zhu’s throat tightened.

“Is this okay?” Mu Shanyi pressed close, her body against Miao Zhu’s back, murmuring in her ear.

Was it okay to kiss?

She wasn’t the only one still craving more.

Miao Zhu turned her head, tilting her face up to brush against Mu Shanyi’s lower lip, answering with her actions.

Mu Shanyi’s lips were soft, her breath pleasant. Miao Zhu stood on her tiptoes, deepening the kiss from memory, but Mu Shanyi gripped the back of her neck, leaving Miao Zhu unable to move. Control returned to Mu Shanyi’s hands.

Mu Shanyi’s palm was steady and strong. The pad of her finger behind Miao Zhu’s ear rubbed slowly. Her nose tip nudged gently against Miao Zhu’s nose.

Miao Zhu closed her eyes. Mu Shanyi’s breath was like a thick, fragrant mist enveloping her. Miao Zhu sank into that scented fog, her breathing quickly changing. Her face grew hotter and hotter, the skin at her ears and cheeks flushing with a captivating red glow, as if some secret switch had been triggered.

Mu Shanyi clearly observed the entire process. A smile appeared in her eyes as she wrapped her arm around Miao Zhu’s waist. Her lips drew near, kissing lightly like a dragonfly skimming water, one shallow peck after another.

She kissed the hollow of Miao Zhu’s eye, the end of her brow, and her beautiful lips.

The sounds of kissing and breathing intertwined, their temples brushing intimately.

Miao Zhu trembled slightly. She was a little lost in the hypnotic atmosphere Mu Shanyi created—both dominant and gentle.

“Mm…~” Miao Zhu gripped the marble countertop in front of her, her fingertips unconsciously tightening.

The buttons of her loungewear were undone haphazardly, the hem of her top draped over Mu Shanyi’s arm.

The electric sensation was a thousand times stronger than when it had brushed her hand last time.

Mu Shanyi turned her face and kissed her again, sealing all her sounds within their lips.

The kiss went too deep. Miao Zhu’s oxygen was plundered, her mind blanking out briefly.

“Longlong,” Mu Shanyi’s lips retreated to her ear, “your face is so red.”

It wasn’t just her face that was red. The mirror honestly recorded everything. Beneath Miao Zhu’s disheveled loungewear, every inch of her skin was flushed.

So there was no difference between being sober and sleepy after all…

Whether there were feelings or not didn’t matter—her body always had its own ideas.

“Sorry…” Mu Shanyi lightly nipped at Miao Zhu’s shoulder. “Does it feel too fast?”

It took Miao Zhu a good while to find her voice. “…I like it.”
