The comic poster was plastered on a tall pillar beside the stage, impossible to miss. A crowd had gathered around it, snapping photos.
Cheng Zhanya had never been to a comic con herself.
But her artwork had.
She had handed full management of her works over to the studio, and she rarely concerned herself with how they drove traffic online.
The studio had poured no small effort into her current level of success.
Progress on the photobook had stalled completely. Her updates had ground to a halt, and everything else had come to a standstill.
Yet the popularity of her work showed no signs of fading.
That was the last thing she had expected.
“Is this how I look in your eyes?”
Lin Hanbing stared at the screen, a smile tugging at the corners of her eyes. She finished speaking and locked her gaze on Cheng Zhanya, watching her every expression without missing a beat.
Cheng Zhanya looked up, her own eyes sparkling with amusement. “You guess.”
“I guess it is.”
“That’s the you I never got enough of after we married.”
The smile lines at the corners of Cheng Zhanya’s mouth lingered, but something shifted in her gaze. She was still looking at Lin Hanbing—or so it seemed. It was more like she was peering through the present Lin Hanbing to the one from the past.
Lin Hanbing couldn’t help but feel a pang of sorrow.
She pulled Cheng Zhanya into her arms and pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
Not for the first time, regret weighed heavily on her.
Cheng Zhanya picked up on Lin Hanbing’s mood and let out a soft sigh to break the silence.
She set her phone aside and took Lin Hanbing’s hand, giving it a gentle shake. “Want to keep me company for a nap? Child’s Mom.”
Lin Hanbing’s expression froze for a split second before her face broke into a beaming grin. “I’d love to.”
Cheng Zhanya nearly burst out laughing at Lin Hanbing’s ridiculously endearing silliness.
She had come to realize it then.
Lin Hanbing was actually pretty cute.
The aloof, unapproachable demeanor she wore outside had vanished completely in this moment.
Lin Hanbing shifted to hold Cheng Zhanya from the side, her face radiating contentment.
No need to dwell on the past.
Just cherish the present—and make damn sure not to screw it up in the future.
