Chapter 28 Part 2

Ah Man still didn’t know exactly what had happened inside, but seeing Sixu’s displeased expression gave her a good idea.

She draped an arm over Sixu’s shoulder, her smile not reaching her eyes, which were icy cold. “Sorry to interrupt, everyone. I’m just here to pick up my girlfriend.”

One stunningly seductive, the other elegantly cool.

The two of them should have clashed, or one should have overwhelmed the other.

But instead, they were remarkably harmonious, perfectly in sync.

Sixu took Ah Man’s hand proactively and addressed the group. “I won’t keep you from your fun. I have other matters now. We’ll catch up another time when I’m free.”

Huangmo’s expression was far from friendly. She stared intently at Ah Man, her eyes full of scrutiny.

Ah Man’s gaze flowed across the room before settling, with a faint, cold smile. She was almost certain it was this woman who had just spoken.

“Wifey, someone just yelled at me. I need a kiss from you to feel better.”

Sixu gave her a cool look. She understood Ah Man’s mischievous intent and let out a soft humph. Tilting her chin up slightly, she pressed a kiss to Ah Man’s cheek.

Forget it, she could only spoil her own demon. What else could she do?

Ah Man’s lips curved in a triumphant smile. How to put it? The looks on their faces now—it was as if they were all thinking she was some unforgivable demoness who had seduced a pure, noble fairy away from her celestial path, leading her into the Demonic Path.

Sixu squeezed her hand, her expression remaining neutral. She nodded politely to the others and, under their watchful eyes, left the Private Room.

Silence fell over the room, partly because of Ah Man’s breathtaking beauty, partly due to sheer awkwardness.

Uh, if they were in Huangmo’s shoes, they’d probably have already used their toes to dig out an entire castle by now…

Thankfully, someone soon broke the oppressive silence with forced laughter. No one was tactless enough to bring up Ah Man or Sixu.

But that didn’t stop Huangmo from wallowing in her own misery.

Expressionless, she grabbed a bottle of liquor and started drinking straight from it, her face turning blotchy red in an instant.

Zhao Hanhan could only shake her head helplessly.

But none of them expected Ah Man to return.

Ah Man smiled sweetly. “So sorry, Sixu forgot something. I came back to get it.”

She navigated through the crowd and found the gift box Sixu had left behind.

People stared at her, but Ah Man paid them no mind.

Huangmo, breathing heavily, blocked her path, wanting to speak. But Ah Man didn’t give her the chance.

Without blinking, she stepped on Huangmo’s foot with her high heel. Feigning an apologetic look, she said, “Oh dear, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you there. Are you alright?”

The upward tilt of her eyes was purely provocative. She leaned slightly toward Huangmo and whispered, her voice icy, “If you dare try to steal someone’s girlfriend, be prepared to get stepped on.”

Ah Man withdrew her high heel, her beautiful face blooming into a captivating smile. She coquettishly blew a kiss toward Huangmo. With a swing of her slender waist and a flip of her long hair, she left behind only an alluring silhouette, gradually receding into the distance.

Zhao Hanhan shuddered, sucking in a sharp breath. That alluring, flirtatious glance was still seared into her brain. With a heavy sigh, she told her good friend Huangmo, “Girl, maybe… maybe it’s time to give up on that secret crush of yours?”

Against a demoness like that, only if Daji herself returned to the mortal world could anyone possibly win against her!

Sixu stood obediently in the corridor, waiting for Ah Man. Seeing the expression on Ah Man’s face, she knew she hadn’t been the one to suffer a loss.

Amusement flickered in her bright eyes. Though she’d known those people for years, none of the relationships were truly heartfelt. To put it bluntly, if the Si family fell tomorrow, those very people would probably team up to swallow the Si family whole the day after.

So Ah Man was far more important to her. Much, much more.

“What was that woman’s name again?”

Sixu answered calmly, “Her name is Huangmo.”

The smile on Ah Man’s lips subtly, imperceptibly, turned bloodthirsty. Oh, it’s her. The one who had a hand in the Si family’s bankruptcy. What a pity. She should have stepped down even harder.

“You never seem to ask about my family.”

Ah Man hugged her shoulders tightly. “If you want to tell me, you will. If not, that’s fine too. I’m dating you, not your family.”

Glancing around to ensure no one was nearby, Sixu lowered her voice. “And… aren’t you curious about the matters between Demon Tamers and demons?”

She slipped out from under Ah Man’s arm and, grabbing her sleeve, pulled her into the Restroom.

A faint sandalwood fragrance filled the Restroom, but it couldn’t mask the putrid, foul stench clinging to Ah Man.

Yes, foul stench.

Sixu’s eyes were deep and cold as she stared at Ah Man. Their high heels clicked against the tiled floor as Sixu shoved her against the restroom wall. Her voice was laced with fiery anger. She grabbed Ah Man by the collar. “Tao Man, you’ve got some nerve. You meet another Demon Tamer, and then immediately come to see me? Were you afraid I wouldn’t be able to smell that stench on you!”

Ah Man looked bewildered. Facing Sixu’s icy expression, she stammered, flustered, “Sixu, listen, let me explain what happened. It’s like this. I ran into a lunatic in the elevator. She clung to me, said she was in love with me, said she wanted to be my Demon Tamer. Good heavens, she scared me half to death. I didn’t touch a single hair on her head. Sixu, you absolutely cannot misunderstand me.”

“We’re not doing that angsty, misunderstandings-and-heartbreak plotline. I promise I’ll honestly tell you everything!”

Ah Man thought to herself, Is Sixu part bloodhound? Wait, how does she even know I met another Demon Tamer?

Sixu let out a cold laugh and pressed, “Is that all? What else?”

Ah Man raised her hands in surrender. After thinking a moment, she added, “Also… that woman said the moment she saw me, she mentioned she’d met me, or rather, seen my photo, when she was sixteen. That’s really everything this time.”

From Ah Man’s words, Sixu was able to piece together exactly who this unknown Demon Tamer was.

Her voice was like a clear winter spring—cold, yet crystalline.

“That was Siqing. The cousin who tried to harm me.”

Sixu studied Ah Man’s face, her eyes gradually deepening.

She knew the Family Head intended to select a Demon Tamer from the Si family to offer to a certain demon. But she hadn’t known that demon’s name or appearance. Yet Sixu was well aware of Siqing’s infatuation and devotion to that demon.

The Family Head had hinted at this news to all branches of the Si family for a long time.

But two years ago, Siqing had told Sixu that she had seen that demon, fallen in love at first sight, and plunged headfirst into obsession.

Siqing had warned Sixu not to compete with her, demanding Sixu dim her own brilliance and step aside.

To which Sixu had rolled her eyes.

She had tossed Siqing’s words to the back of her mind. Within the Si family, the dimmer and more lackluster a Demon Tamer, the more miserable their fate would be. Only by becoming outstanding and remarkable would one be valued, their worth considered even when being discarded.

That was the destiny of a Demon Tamer.

Sixu had an older female cousin. Their relationship wasn’t close; they only saw each other during holidays. But later, she was seen less and less. Rumor had it she was sent to the Auction House.

Therefore, Sixu would rather keep shining brightly than end up at the Auction House.

Sixu’s face was frighteningly cold. Her jaw tightened. She asked calmly, “You… are you really just a Flower Shop owner?”

Confusion flickered deep within Ah Man’s peach blossom eyes. “Why would you ask that? Do I not act like a Flower Shop owner normally?”

“There’s something I haven’t told you. The reason Siqing tried to harm me back then was because I was very likely to be the one to form a bond with a certain demon. A being so powerful even the Si Family Head needed to curry favor with them. And Siqing, years ago, by chance saw that demon’s photograph and fell in love.”

Ah Man couldn’t help but touch her own face and murmured, “Could there be someone else in this world who looks exactly like me? That shouldn’t be possible. No demon ever told me a peach tree like me could grow a twin.”

Sixu, seeing she didn’t seem to be faking it, pinched her face firmly. “Did you lose your memory?”

Ah Man shook her head. “I’m certain I haven’t lost my memory.”

But I’m not so sure if Tao Man lost hers.

She was merely a soul who had arrived in this world, taken over Tao Man’s body, inheriting her memories and everything.

If one really had to point to a reason, the only possibility was that Tao Man’s memory had gaps.

Sixu sighed helplessly. “Idiot. Leave this matter alone. I’ll investigate.”

Ah Man was happy to play the clueless, naive one. She nodded obediently. “Alright, alright.”

Seeing her bright, sunny smile, half of Sixu’s anger dissipated.

If her Ah Man truly was the demon the Family Head was trying to curry favor with… well, that would certainly make things interesting.

But right now, she had another matter to attend to.

Putting her hands on Ah Man’s shoulders, Sixu whispered, “Do you know how I found out you’d met another Demon Tamer?”

Ah Man blinked. “I have no idea.”

Sixu’s expression turned deeply mysterious. Leaning close to Ah Man’s face, she spoke mysteriously before finally saying in a profound tone, “Well, I simply refuse to tell you.”

“…” Sixu, that was ridiculously tsundere.

Lowering her head, she pressed her lips against those soft, red lips she had been thinking of. Gently, very gently.

Ah Man couldn’t suppress a slight shiver and wrapped her arms tightly around Sixu’s slender waist.

At first, Sixu only intended to kiss her briefly, so her touch was tender and restrained. But as Ah Man responded, Sixu gradually began losing control.

Ah Man caught Sixu’s hand, their foreheads touching. Her voice was husky and seductive. “Not here, okay?”

“Absolutely not.”

Your body still carries the lingering scent of Siqing’s aroused emotions. I feel jealous. I feel wronged.

So, I’m going to kiss every inch of you.

Right here, right now, I will possess you completely.
