Chapter 61: A Matter of Weight
No lenses to block the way, just a pure, four-eyed gaze.
Qin Luo was not one to hold on.
When her father was dying, she had also stood in a corner of the hospital room, listening to the sound of the defibrillator in the curtained-off area, and then had turned her back coldly.
Tears were useless. Tears couldn’t hold anything back.
But now, Qin Luo’s palm was covering a hot cheek. She could knead this seedling at will. The steam coming from their eyes was dripping, much hotter than tears.
Qin Luo would rather have made a scene when they had separated back then.
Even if it meant squatting downstairs at the Shen family’s house after school, even if it meant calling Uncle Shen and begging him to open the door, or crying even louder to Old Liu, so that the concentration of regret would continue to rise.
As long as the concentration was high enough, the reluctance would explode with the untimely retention, making the hatred even sharper. She would exchange an “I love you” for a “get lost,” and from then on, she could let it go.
Qin Luo blamed herself for not doing anything back then, and now she could only regret it.
“Qin Luo…”
Her palm was hot. Shen Yiyi was scared by Qin Luo’s temperature.
She had anticipated the next move, but she was powerless to stop it. She could only retreat again and again on the one-and-a-half-meter bed.
“Yes.”
Hearing her call her name, Qin Luo held her face and asked back, “Are you going to tell me we can only be friends again?”
She held Shen Yiyi’s chin in her palm, the ring on her finger cold. With a little force, it would leave an imprint on her skin. No matter how clean something was, it would leave a mark once it was touched.
Qin Luo pressed her shoulder against her shoulder and landed a kiss on the corner of her lips. She made her position clear in the kiss, “Don’t say we’re just friends.”
It was as if she were touching a sensitive plant. Her lips were connected to a trembling breath, her fingertips pinching her throat. She would not allow Shen Yiyi to say anything about being friends.
A person who only wanted to be friends would not allow herself to waste so much time.
Shen Yiyi felt as if she were a grain of rice lying in a ditch. The shadow beside her was soaked and drenched by the hot rain all night, and then was dried by the sunlight from the window, submerged in the fermenting breath, and crushed by the soft lips.
Her mind was muddled. The taste was suddenly too strong, and then it suddenly dropped.
The unstable factor of swelling and astringency settled into her body. Qin Luo kissed her from the corner of her lips, all the way until she leaned back in response, until a white mist steamed up before her eyes.
Suffocation…
Forensic pathology identification had hundreds of terms and entries for suffocation. Shen Yiyi made a diagnosis for herself—if they continued to kiss, she might show signs of suffocation.
Qin Luo wanted to strangle her, or for her to die of something else.
For example, choking, and positional asphyxia.
“Qin Luo…”
Shen Yiyi couldn’t open her eyes, and she didn’t dare to. In the gap between the kisses, she called for help in a muddled voice.
“Yes?”
“If you press your hand any further, it will cause death by suffocation.”
Qin Luo pushed her against the wall, her hand moving down from her throat, sliding to the pajama button at her collarbone.
Shen Yiyi always liked to wear a somewhat formal plaid cotton shirt. The flannel of this shirt was soft and comfortable to the touch.
But there was one drawback—the buttons were small and tight.
Qin Luo had been kissing her for a long time before she could successfully unbutton the first one.
Shen Yiyi’s eyes were closed. Just as Qin Luo was about to unbutton the second one, she reached out and held her wrist tightly, even using both hands to stop her. “Don’t unbutton it.”
Forget it.
If she didn’t like it, she wouldn’t take it off.
Shen Yiyi had just taken a shower, and the back of her neck was warm. Qin Luo changed to kissing the back of her ear. The hair blocked the oxygen and just happened to trap the scent.
Qin Luo’s nose rubbed against the cartilage of her ear, and she smelled the clear and sweet and salty bubble scent left by the shower gel.
Now even the bubbles were getting too intense.
Shen Yiyi didn’t go home all year round. Besides the toner that Shen Qinwen used, there were no other skincare products at home. So she hadn’t applied any lotion after her shower, and her whole body was clean.
Thanks to this, Qin Luo didn’t taste any other flavors on Shen Yiyi’s skin. Under her lips was a cool and sweet taste, so Qin Luo served the exquisite product in front of her even more carefully.
“…It’s very itchy here.”
The cartilage of her ear and her lips met. The wandering fire burned downwards. Shen Yiyi fell onto the soft mattress, her shoulders trembling unconsciously.
The breath she had just been holding in her lungs stumbled and fell in her throat.
This fire had been burning for too long. She was about to be burned dry.
Shen Yiyi tilted her head, trying to stop the kiss that was wandering behind her ear.
“Alright, my ear is going numb.”
Qin Luo knew that Shen Yiyi was a very stubborn person.
She remembered that in high school, whenever it was Shen Yiyi’s turn to be on duty, she would definitely see her cleaning the caked gum on the floor with a shovel after school. The teacher had reminded her many times that she didn’t have to worry about the dirt in the corners, but she wouldn’t listen to anyone and would just do things according to her heart.
So no one could force Shen Yiyi to do something she didn’t want to do, not even Qin Luo. But Qin Luo was glad that she was just asking, not warning.
So she kissed her somewhere else.
