Chapter 27

Right at 6:01 PM, Bai Lu checked the time and asked the secretary next to her, “Has Chairman Bai left yet?”

The secretary said, “Just left.”

“Great.” Bai Lu immediately grabbed her handbag, said goodbye to the colleagues still working overtime, and left.

The moment she exited the building’s glass door, Bai Lu spotted her Porsche 911 parked across the street. She waited for the traffic light, then happily ran over and knocked on the car window.

Lu Zhi shifted her gaze from her phone; Bai Lu had already opened the passenger door and gotten in.

Once inside, Bai Lu first sized up Lu Zhi from head to toe. She was wearing a solid-colored light blue long dress today, with sheer sleeves and a small V-neck, revealing two delicate collarbones. She had no accessories, only her thick, wavy hair cascading over her shoulders, looking very gentle and serene.

Bai Lu inwardly compared this outfit to the seductive look Lu Zhi had in her nightgown in bed…

Hah!

Ascetic type?

More like the wolf in sheep’s clothing type!

“What are you thinking about?” Seeing Bai Lu staring at her blankly, Lu Zhi reached out and scraped her delicate nose.

“Nothing, nothing,” Bai Lu came back to her senses, quickly controlling her expression, then said, “Let’s go home first, change clothes, then head to the bar.”

The two drove back to the Bai Family Residence. Father Bai was also enjoying his own romantic pursuits and wasn’t home.

Bai Lu first went to check the walk-in closet in Lu Zhi’s room, looked around, shook her head, and said with disdain, “You should still wear my clothes.”

Lu Zhi didn’t object, following Bai Lu to her room, letting her enthusiastically hold up various small, tight, and clingy clothes against her frame. Finally, Bai Lu settled on a black velvet bandeau dress.

“Cough, try this on, let me see.”

“Are you sure?” Lu Zhi held the piece of soft fabric that was clearly lacking in material.

Bai Lu’s eyes sparkled. She nodded like a pestle pounding mortar, then scurried to Lu Zhi’s room, brought back a pair of high heels, and without daring to look at Lu Zhi’s expression, quickly closed the closet door and ran out.

Five minutes later, as Bai Lu wished, Lu Zhi came out wearing the eight-centimeter silver high heels.

Lu Zhi was naturally around 174 centimeters tall without shoes; she usually wore flats or low heels for comfort. Now, walking over in high heels, her tall, straight figure carried an inherent, commanding presence, looking down from a great height with an air of authority.

The black bandeau dress was an XS size. Even when Bai Lu wore it herself, it was only just right. On Lu Zhi, it barely covered the important parts, relying entirely on her perfect waist-to-hip ratio. Even so, the soft fabric woven with gold thread clung tightly to her skin, outlining her figure in an overly curvaceous way.

Her bare, fair neck connected to an almost bursting, proud bosom; her slender waist seemed graspable in one hand. The velvet hem hugged her round, pert buttocks, barely covering a hint of her upper thighs, leaving a pair of heaven-defyingly long, beautiful legs brazenly exposed to the air, lethally stunning.

Lu Zhi gathered the curls that had fallen before her eyes to the back of her head and slowly walked toward Bai Lu.

Bai Lu…

Bai Lu was dumbstruck. It wasn’t until her back hit the wall that she realized she had been involuntarily stepping backward as Lu Zhi approached.

“You,” Lu Zhi lifted Bai Lu’s chin. Her expression was calm, which contrasted with her hot, sexy outfit, making her seem even colder, yet strangely inducing weak knees. She stared at Bai Lu and confirmed, “Are you sure you want me to wear this to the bar?”

It took Bai Lu a moment to react before she shook her head vigorously, her eyes still looking at Lu Zhi as if spellbound. Finally, she couldn’t help but reach out and touch the soft strands of hair framing Lu Zhi’s face.

Lu Zhi’s hair was always well-maintained, every strand a glossy chestnut color, wavy and loosely cascading over her bare shoulders and back.

Bai Lu glanced at Lu Zhi. Lu Zhi raised an eyebrow, her gaze seemingly hiding a hook, yet it sent a signal of surrender.

Bai Lu swallowed, then carefully gathered all of Lu Zhi’s hair to one side, revealing the other side—an elegantly long neck with no concealment. The smooth line swept past her slender shoulder, connecting to her round, fair shoulder cap. A pair of exquisite collarbones stood out prominently, below which was an abundance that even women would envy and covet, made even more pert, full, and firm by the dress’s tightness, rising and falling slightly with her owner’s steady breaths.

Even though Bai Lu had seen this person in more stirring displays of beauty, she was still utterly captivated.

After a long moment, Bai Lu suddenly threw her arms around Lu Zhi in a full embrace, looked up at her, and said, “You can’t ever wear clothes like this in front of anyone else. For your whole life, you can only wear them in front of me, okay?”

Lu Zhi slightly lowered her head, using a single finger to brush aside the dark strands of hair draped over Bai Lu’s forehead, and sighed, “Oh, so domineering?”

Bai Lu nodded vigorously. She couldn’t manage a fierce expression with Lu Zhi, so she could only plead in her soft voice, “Promise me, okay?”

Lu Zhi tilted her head and said, “Okay.”

Only then did Bai Lu feel relieved, her eyes curving into twin crescent moons. But her arms still clung to Lu Zhi’s slender waist, unwilling to let go. Eventually, she even got bolder, letting her heated fingertips roam and caress Lu Zhi’s back.

Later, Zhao Fei’er even called to urge them, but Bai Lu didn’t have the slightest desire to go out.

“How about we stand her up?” Bai Lu asked Lu Zhi with a serious face.

Lu Zhi almost burst out laughing. She ruffled her hair and said, “Your friend, your call.”

Bai Lu thought about it, indeed sent a little white dove sticker expressing regret, and then, just before Zhao Fei’er’s impending barrage of furious calls, supplemented it with a big red envelope.

The two lazed around in the room for two hours before going downstairs to the dining room for dinner.

Bai Lu wasn’t idle that evening either; at eleven o’clock, she was still messaging Lu Zhi, telling her to secretly come to her room to play, instructing her not to let the housekeeper see.

Sneaky and secretive, as thrilling as being a thief.

The next morning, when she woke, it was already 9 AM. Bai Lu paused, then remembered it was the weekend—no class, no work.

Bai Lu took her phone and first sent Lu Zhi a message asking where she was. Then, after briefly washing up, she returned to bed. Lu Zhi hadn’t replied to her message. Bai Lu wasn’t impatient; she casually pressed the button for the room’s curtains.

With an almost silent “hum,” sunlight streamed in through the widening gap, quickly filling the entire room. She stretched lazily and saw Lu Zhi watering the garden downstairs.

The other woman was wearing a long, pale white sun-protective jacket and black rubber shoes. Bai Lu’s eyesight was very good; she could see a pair of long, fair calves disappearing into the shoe tops beneath the jacket’s hem. Lu Zhi was bathed in the gentle morning light, a round sunhat covering her face, leaving only a slender silhouette. She looked very content and relaxed.

Bai Lu unconsciously walked to the window. The family had a dedicated gardener who kept the yard vibrant year-round. Perhaps having grown up here, she had never thought the garden particularly beautiful. Now, on a sudden whim, she noticed the beauty around her. The garden was planted with so many species of the rose family, and she couldn’t even name most of them. She only recognized some blooming hydrangeas; bougainvillea also spread in a large patch in the corner, brilliant as smoky clouds under the gentle spray of water.

She couldn’t help but lean on the balcony railing, her eyes fixed on either the person downstairs or the flowers below.

Lu Zhi was casually holding the hose. Looking up occasionally, the sunlight from under her hat brim only fell on her delicate nose, lips, and chin, gleaming like lustrous jade. Perhaps it obstructed her view, she adjusted her hat and suddenly met Bai Lu’s eyes.

Bai Lu quickly jumped up and waved at her.

Lu Zhi also saw Bai Lu on the second-floor balcony. She shifted her position, pointed the hose toward where Bai Lu stood, and pinched the nozzle with her fingers. A water arrow shot out with a “whoosh.”

?!!

Bai Lu almost choked on her own saliva. Seeing the water arrow coming straight for her, she hastily retreated.

But the water stream clearly lacked the force to reach her; it dropped weakly less than half a meter from the balcony, splattering on the ground with a “crackling” sound.

Bai Lu looked down, stunned, just in time to see an obvious smile on Lu Zhi’s face—clearly teasing her.

Bai Lu let out a “Hey!”, immediately feeling challenged. She scurried downstairs and faced Lu Zhi, shouting, “Don’t be too arrogant!”

Lu Zhi hooked the corner of her lips, controlling the hose nozzle with her fingers. Jets of water “pffted” near Bai Lu’s feet, scaring her into stopping abruptly.

After that, Lu Zhi calmly greeted her, “Morning, Bai Lu.”

The other people in the yard looked at Lu Zhi in confusion, clearly not understanding why she was so mischievously provoking Bai Lu.

Bai Lu was also a total drama queen. Putting on an angry face, she pointed at Lu Zhi: “You think I’m easy to bully, right! Hmph! I’ll show you!”

With that, she circled around, searching, and quickly locked onto the gardener not far away, who was holding another hose. In three steps, she dashed over, snatched it, turned around, and sprayed water at Lu Zhi.

Her movements were quick and urgent. Caught off guard, Lu Zhi was splashed all over. Underneath, she wore a sports tank top and knee-length denim shorts. The thin sunshade jacket was soaked through, instantly clinging to her body.

“I’ll teach you who’s boss in this house! Hahaha!” Bai Lu put one hand on her hip, laughing wildly.

Lu Zhi looked down at herself, then raised her eyes, a smile playing on her lips. Her voice was gentle: “Bai Lu, you’re courting death.”

Bai Lu wasn’t scared at all. She raised her chin smugly and continued waving the hose at her, utterly unafraid.

Lu Zhi didn’t dodge. She pinched her nozzle and sprayed right at Bai Lu.

Bai Lu shrieked, reflexively closing her eyes and turning her back, but she couldn’t block the icy water from landing on her.

The two of them had a grand time playing around, ending up completely soaked.

The housekeeper brought two towels and thoughtfully draped them over their shoulders.

“At your age, still fooling around,” the housekeeper scolded softly, toweling Bai Lu’s head. “First thing in the morning, well water is so cold. Don’t you dare catch a cold.”

Bai Lu huffed, saying, “She started it!”

Lu Zhi was gently wiping her ears across from them. Hearing this, she glanced at Bai Lu.

Bai Lu quickly shot her a secret look, giggling foolishly.

Lu Zhi couldn’t help but smile too, then turned and went upstairs to shower and change again.

Because of the morning’s ruckus, Bai Lu had redirected her attention to her own yard. Originally, today was free, and Lu Zhi’s plan was to review coursework for next week’s final exams. But after sitting for less than ten minutes in the small study on the second floor, Bai Lu applied to go downstairs to the little garden to read.

Lu Zhi, worn down by her pleading, agreed.

Then Bai Lu started pushing her luck, taking a mile after an inch: first she wanted a pillow, then she was thirsty, then she was too hot, then there were mosquitoes…

A spanking from Lu Zhi finally made her settle down.

Bai Lu’s eyes were red, whether from embarrassment or anger, as she sprawled over the stone table under the lush green grapevine trellis, muttering curses at her book while secretly glancing at the woman beside her—who was leaning on a pillow, drinking juice, enjoying a fan, with even the incense placed closer to her—lazily lying on the swing reading a leisure book.

Hmph!

So annoying!

And she can’t even win a fight!

A good while later, Bai Lu finally managed to focus on her books.

Actually, she felt she might be able to concentrate better if Lu Zhi weren’t right in front of her. Whenever Lu Zhi was there, she couldn’t help but talk to her, try to play with her.

Ah, this must be love!

She thought blissfully.

The book had many key points, but since she’d been studying diligently all semester, memorizing them wasn’t actually that hard. Bai Lu generally liked to memorize things through repetitive copying and reinforced understanding, so soon, only the rustle of writing and the occasional turning of pages sounded under the grapevine.

After a while, Bai Lu looked up and realized Lu Zhi had actually fallen asleep on the swing.

Bai Lu walked over involuntarily, tiptoed to remove the book that was resting open on her chest, then crouched beside her, quietly staring at Lu Zhi during her nap.

Fine eyebrows and eyes, a straight nose, naturally red lips—calm and serene as ever.

But only Bai Lu knew what this pale, bare face could transform into—an enchanting, alluring sight. Every lowered gaze, every curved lip, a temptation that drove one to maddening desire.

She couldn’t help but smile, then leaned over and kissed Lu Zhi’s lips. The full, rosy lips, the slightly angular cupid’s bow, warm, cool, and soft.

Lu Zhi opened her eyes slightly. Seeing it was her, she didn’t react and continued sleeping.

Bai Lu giggled silly, stealing a brief taste before returning to the stone stool to sit down.

She was so blissfully happy, unaware that if she looked up right now, she would see Father Bai’s grim expression on the distant second-floor balcony. He didn’t know how long he had been standing there. Perhaps he had once felt gratified by his daughter’s diligence, but now only shock remained; his eyes were dark and unreadable, filled with suppressed fury.

Her name is Lu Zhi, a traveler lost in time and space after failing a quick-transmigration mission. Long ago, she had a partner that existed in her sea of consciousness. Its name is now a blur, probably a string of code, but it was eventually stripped away.

After that, she had no guide, no missions. She merely traversed different time-spaces, taking over the body of a mere passerby, and lived out that life according to its original design.

Yet, amidst all kinds of plotlines, she always ran into a certain brainless young lady. This girl would diligently play the role of the villainess side character, a little monster whose life's ambition was to contribute bricks and mortar to the main characters' romance and careers, wholeheartedly sacrificing herself.

Lu Zhi didn't care about the male and female leads, but this stumbling block of a girl always stirred a sense of pity in her, compelling her to offer some guidance.

It was only later that she realized each of these brainless girls possessed the same pure innocence and earnest sincerity. It was so familiar that she wondered if she had encountered the partner who had once accompanied her through eons, the one whose name was a string of code.
