Chapter 1: Harem Construction p1
Fang Qiang quickly hid behind the thickest tree, fumbling to get his clothes off. Just as he pressed his body against the trunk, Zhou Cong and Ruan Lin arrived.
But they only saw a messy pile of clothes on the ground, not a person in sight.
“Huh, I could have sworn I saw a figure flash by here,” Ruan Lin said, stunned. She looked around, searching the surrounding bushes.
She didn’t notice that just three meters away, the tree trunk had a strange bulge, one that seemed to be faintly moving.
Zhou Cong paid even less attention, looking up into the treetops to see if someone was hiding there.
In truth, although Fang Qiang was camouflaged, the difference between a human and a tree was significant enough that a careful observer would have noticed something was off. But the two officers were creatures of habit. Their first instinct was that the person had either fled or was hiding in an obvious hiding place. They completely overlooked what was right in front of them.
After a quick search, they still found nothing.
“Strange. How could a person just vanish into thin air?”
“Maybe we were mistaken? They say this area is full of wild monkeys. Could that have been what we saw?”
“Why would a monkey leave a pile of clothes here?”
“That’s exactly what a monkey would do. Maybe it stole some clothes from somewhere, was wearing them and wandering around, and we mistook it for a person. When it got scared, it just took them off and ran.”
“That makes sense. Ha, I wonder if it was a male or a female monkey…”
The two officers joked for a moment, seemingly unconcerned.
Pressed against the tree, Fang Qiang cursed himself for being so nervous. These two rice-worms who only knew how to bully ordinary citizens were no match for him now. Why was his first instinct to hide?
He considered whether he should just attack and get rid of them both.
Especially that young female officer, Ruan Lin. The grudge between them was deep. She was not only beautiful, but her chest was so full, and her attitude so arrogant. It made him want to rip her uniform to shreds, string her up, and brutally rape and humiliate her, to destroy that pride of hers and make her kneel at his feet, crying and begging for mercy.
But, to be safe, he couldn’t do that now.
Fang Qiang was a meticulous planner. He reasoned that if these two officers disappeared here, the police would take it very seriously and send a large search party. Although they might not find the cave, if they stayed in the area for a long time, it would be a huge obstacle to his plan of building his palace.
All criminal activity should be conducted as far away from one’s base as possible. That’s the only way to ensure safety.
With that thought, Fang Qiang forced himself to hold back, holding his breath and waiting for the two of them to leave.
But Zhou Cong and Ruan Lin showed no signs of leaving. While on patrol, they had encountered a fleeing taxi. When they stopped it, the terrified driver told them that he had been taking a passenger to Tiger Mountain when they were hijacked by the Hand-Choppers.
After reporting to headquarters, the two of them had driven straight to Tiger Mountain to investigate. They had followed the tire tracks to this patch of forest and found the abandoned jeep.
The occupants were gone, but there were burn marks on the ground nearby. Zhou Cong and Ruan Lin had been examining the scene when Fang Qiang returned, leading to the current situation.
“Cong, where do you think those Hand-Chopper guys went?” Ruan Lin asked with a yawn, finding a clean spot to sit down.
Zhou Cong mused, “I don’t know. From the looks of it, they got out of the car here, burned something, and then fled on foot. But the jeep isn’t broken. Why would they abandon it? I can’t figure it out.”
“Hey, if you can’t figure it out, don’t think about it,” Ruan Lin said dismissively. “Once headquarters sends people to do a thorough search of the area, they’ll probably find something.”
Zhou Cong nodded in agreement and sat down as well, lighting a cigarette.
Fang Qiang grew anxious. If a large number of police officers came to search the area, he might not get caught, but it would be a huge hassle.
Just then, Ruan Lin let out a soft “Huh?” Her attention was drawn back to the pile of clothes on the ground. She broke off a branch and used it to pick up the jacket and pants, examining them closely.
“What is it?” Zhou Cong asked.
“Don’t you think these clothes look familiar? Like someone we know has worn them…”
“That’s normal. This style is popular. You see people wearing it all over the street.”
“No, this jacket with these pants… the combination is so tacky, not many people would dress like that. I’ve definitely seen it somewhere…”
“Hmm, now that you mention it, it does look familiar. Let me see…”
Ruan Lin suddenly leaped to her feet. “I remember now!” she shouted. “That bastard Fang wore these!”
“Fang?”
Zhou Cong immediately remembered as well. “Fang Qiang! That’s right, that’s what he wears! The three times he came to the station to give a statement, he was wearing this exact outfit!”
“That son of a bitch. Why are his clothes here?” Ruan Lin’s face was filled with loathing. She flung the branch down, throwing the clothes to the ground.
Zhou Cong thought for a moment. “There’s only one possibility,” he said, realization dawning. “The passenger the taxi driver was talking about, the one who was kidnapped by the Hand-Choppers—it was Fang Qiang!”
“I think so too. Ha, serves him right. It’s for the best if he was kidnapped!” Ruan Lin said hatefully, stomping on the clothes.
“Ah Lin, what are you doing? We need to take these back for forensic analysis…” Zhou Cong said, but he was just smiling as he watched his partner, making no move to stop her.
“What’s there to analyze?” A malicious smile spread across Ruan Lin’s pretty face. “Let that scum destroy himself. We’re not getting involved.”
Hearing this, Fang Qiang was enraged. He almost attacked her right then and there, his breathing growing heavy.
But the two officers didn’t notice. They gloated over Fang Qiang’s fate, agreeing that since he had fallen into the hands of the Hand-Choppers, they would surely make him pay for capturing their comrades. Whether it was torture or execution, he was in for a world of hurt.
“Thank you, my dear Hand-Choppers! You’ve avenged me!” Ruan Lin clapped her hands, her face beaming with joy.
Thanks to her mother’s powerful connections, she was used to getting her way. Even the police chief was polite to her. The last time Fang Qiang had accidentally touched her chest, she had considered it a great humiliation and had intended to beat him half to death. But then the television station had come for him, and she had been forced to let him go. She had been stewing over it ever since. She never thought the Hand-Choppers would do her such a favor.
“Hey, if I had known it was him who was kidnapped, I wouldn’t have called for backup,” Zhou Cong said with regret. “Once our colleagues get here, we can’t just tell them to ignore it.”
“No problem. Just call headquarters now and say it was a false alarm. Tell the backup team to go back,” Ruan Lin said, her mind working quickly, a cold smile on her face. “As long as we keep our mouths shut, no one will know that bastard was kidnapped, and no one will go looking for him.”
Zhou Cong understood immediately and did as she said. Then, they deliberately destroyed the evidence at the scene. Zhou Cong got into the jeep and, following Ruan Lin’s police car, they swaggered out of the forest.
Watching the two cars drive away, Fang Qiang let out a long sigh of relief. He stepped out from behind the tree, his body returning to its normal color. He didn’t know whether to be angry or amused.
His biggest problem had been solved so simply, thanks to his enemies’ cleverness.
He could predict that after these two idiot cops went back, they would not only keep their mouths shut but would also find all sorts of excuses to prevent other officers from investigating the area, to avoid their own conspiracy being exposed.
Therefore, for a considerable period of time, Tiger Mountain, and the hidden cave he had discovered, would be the safest, most unnoticed place in the world.
It was truly a blessing in disguise. Ha, ha… looks like my luck is turning. My great plan to build a harem must have the Lord’s blessing. It will surely come true one day. Fang Qiang was so pleased with himself that he began to dance and laugh, as if he could already see the hidden cave in the heart of the mountain, being developed and expanded, until it became the most magnificent demon palace in history…
