Chapter 44: Pre-War Raid

Luo Yuxi pounded on the barrier, but it didn’t budge. She called out, hoping to attract the guards’ attention, but there was no one, not even the nuns who usually maintained the barrier.

“Such a large barrier, and no one’s guarding it?”

“Master?”

“Huh?”

Luo Yuxi turned and saw Ann, the Seat of Justice, in her bishop’s robes, but radiating a strong witch’s aura. She was holding a pile of fruit and took a bite out of an apple as she looked at Luo Yuxi.

“Oh, Master’s back! Want to come to my place?”

“Uh…”

They stared at each other. Ann, realizing who it was, dropped the apple and rushed over, pinning Luo Yuxi against the barrier, a dark aura emanating from her.

“Master! It’s really Master~! Master, why didn’t you come visit? I missed you so much~”

“Wait, I have urgent business! I need to find a high-ranking member of the Church who can mobilize the army!”

Luo Yuxi tried to push away Ann, who, after Luo Yuxi’s “training,” had gone from rebellious to puppy-like. And how had no one noticed she had become a witch?

“I’m in a hurry, get out of the way!”

Luo Yuxi was worried about Doris, facing that powerful Time Witch. And if she didn’t hurry, Doris might teleport back.

“No, I haven’t seen Master for so long, I want to be intimate with you~”

Ann’s eyes sparkled with pink hearts. Luo Yuxi, exasperated, punched her in the stomach. Ann, caught off guard, doubled over in pain, tears and drool streaming down her face.

Luo Yuxi was worried. Ann hadn’t even put up a defense. This was a bishop, after all. What if someone saw this?

Luo Yuxi helped Ann up, then, seeing her pained yet strangely pleased expression, she felt a headache coming on.

“So… g-good… Master’s reward… is amazing~”

“This girl is hopeless…”

Luo Yuxi left Ann and paced around, thinking of how to contact a high-ranking member. She couldn’t afford to waste any more time.

“This is so troublesome, I can’t even get through the barrier! Where can I find someone?!”

Luo Yuxi looked at Ann, her bishop’s robes, her status as a 3rd Order, her ability to mobilize troops.

“She’s so messed up I forgot she’s also a high-ranking member…”

Luo Yuxi nudged Ann with her foot. Seeing Ann’s happy expression, she sighed. She didn’t seem very reliable.

“I order you to take me inside the barrier immediately. I need to see the Saintess. Understand?!”

“Master’s orders are absolute~”

Ann stood up, dusted herself off, and walked towards the barrier, placing her hands on it. The impenetrable barrier opened.

“This way, Master~”

“I should have asked you sooner. Let’s go, let’s go!”

As Luo Yuxi entered the barrier, she saw a white figure hiding behind a tree in the distance, her long hair and witch’s hat unmistakable.

“Doris is no match for the Time Witch. She’s probably…”

Luo Yuxi felt a pang of sadness. Although their relationship was based on mutual benefit, seeing Doris fight a stronger witch for her sake made her feel guilty.

“Really, when did I become so sentimental…?”

Luo Yuxi looked at the white figure, which vanished in the blink of an eye, like a ghost.

“What are you doing, Master?”

“Nothing, let’s go. I not only have to stop the Holy War, but I also have to teach that Time Witch a lesson!”

Luo Yuxi walked towards the central tent, her instincts telling her that finding the Saintess was the key. As she entered the barrier, in a dimly lit room, a girl with dark purple twintails bit down on her lollipop.

The girl looked at a screen, then, seeing nothing interesting, left the room, stretching languidly, and looked towards the glowing barrier in the distance.

“So this is why they wanted to see me. Although I don’t take fighting seriously, a war? Now that’s exciting~~”

She glanced at her strategic planning hut, covered in branches, then at the empty field below, and took a step forward, her mismatched eyes, one black, one red, opening slowly.

“I didn’t want to use this, but it won’t be any fun otherwise. It’s war~”

Blood-red armored figures emerged from the ground, filling the valley, their numbers unknown, their forms indistinct, a sea of crimson.

“The King and Queen will stay with me to protect me. The Knights and Fortresses will lead the army and attack from the southwest and northwest~”

The chaotic army instantly formed into organized legions, marching towards the barrier like demons from hell.

“It’s so tiring outside, I’m going back to my hut…“
