Volume 2: Witch Kingdom Arc
Chapter 46: The Fight Begins (¦3[▓▓])
Hearing the report of the attack, the Word Spirit Saintess stood up. Luo Yuxi, seeing her about to leave, panicked. If she missed this opportunity, her next meeting with the Saintess might be on the battlefield.
“Please wait! Launching the Holy War is a mistake! The one who issued the divine decree is not the Goddess of Light!”
“…”
The Word Spirit Saintess stopped, and the bishops stared at Luo Yuxi. Vitonena, the Seat of Chastity, even partially transformed, scales appearing on her skin, her eyes becoming reptilian slits.
“What are you talking about?!”
“Calm down, Vitonena, let her finish!”
Luo Yuxi, seeing the almost-transformed Vitonena, hid behind Yuehua Fengyun, afraid of being killed in a “fit of rage.” After all, Vitonena had almost killed her just for not being a pure love fan.
“Hmph, you escaped this time, heretic…”
“You’re just trying to get revenge!”
“Who knows~”
Vitonena returned to her normal form, leaning against the wall, a defiant look on her face. Luo Yuxi ignored her, wanting to explain the situation quickly.
“Seats of Mercy and Judgment, the southwest and northwest defenses are your responsibility. Now, I want to hear what this nun has to say…”
The Word Spirit Saintess sat back down, looking down at Luo Yuxi with a “you better have a good explanation” expression. Luo Yuxi gulped.
“You’re somewhat pleasing to the eye, I can’t bring myself to dislike you. But if your answer isn’t satisfactory, don’t blame me for using you as a reward for the others…”
“That doesn’t sound so bad…”
Meanwhile, outside the barrier, a tide of red-armored soldiers attacked relentlessly, a massive, fortress-like knight leading the charge, each impact shaking the barrier.
“19th Division of the Divine Punishment Army, assembled!”
“Archers ready! Prepare for divine bombardment!”
[Divine Art: Light Arrows]
[Enhancement Divine Art: Holy Light Illumination]
…
The red tide was about to breach the barrier. The Divine Punishment Army quickly formed ranks, shield bearers creating a wall of steel, arrows and divine arts raining down on the crimson tide. Unlike the mindless red knights, the disciplined Divine Punishment Army was like a silver blade, cutting through the enemy ranks, healers and support mages backing them up.
“These guys are like zombies, even when defeated, they’re just broken armor!”
“We can’t hold them back!”
“Don’t retreat! If we retreat, the barrier will weaken! Then we’ll be vulnerable to a witch’s sneak attack!”
…
Despite their training, tactics, and powerful weaponry, including siege crossbows and cannons, the Divine Punishment Army couldn’t hold back the endless tide of armored knights, mere magical constructs.
[Divine Art: Judgment Cross]
A calm voice echoed through the air, and small silver crosses appeared on the backs of the red knights. In her strategic hut, a twintailed girl watched with interest.
“An interesting person has appeared~”
As she spoke, the red knights on the screen were impaled by silver spikes, unable to move, their arms flailing uselessly.
“Such a terrifying person…”
The one who had unleashed this power was Lin Jian, the Seat of Judgment. Her silver bishop’s robes were like a beacon of hope, calming the panicked soldiers, pushing back the red tide.
“Magical constructs… with no limit to their numbers…?”
Lin Jian examined a pinned knight, still struggling despite its impaled heart. Her eyes were cold and emotionless.
“A witch…”
Meanwhile, at another part of the battlefield, Yuehua Fengyun, the Seat of Mercy, sat atop a mountain of red armor fragments, each only a few centimeters in size, looking at the endless sea of armored soldiers below.
“Why am I doing this? Even magical constructs can regenerate after having their hearts pierced? Damn it, these fragments are digging into my butt…”
Yuehua Fengyun stood up, dusted herself off, and looked at the approaching red knights. She snapped her fingers, and the front ranks disintegrated into even smaller fragments.
[Divine Art: Disintegration]
“Do these witches have unlimited magic power? Creating so many constructs must be draining…”
Yuehua Fengyun picked up a fragment, sensing the faint magic within, but she couldn’t locate its source.
“What a troublesome ability…”
In her strategic hut, the twintailed girl watched the two scenes unfold, then bit down on her lollipop, spitting out the stick. She stood up and looked at the screens.
“It’s a shame I didn’t see that legendary First Order, but learning the abilities of two bishops isn’t a bad trade…”
She recorded their skills, then tossed the notebook aside as her two red-armored attendants, the King and Queen, massaged her shoulders.
“This hut blocks all detection, but when are they coming to get me…?”
She continued to watch the battle, her soldiers being slaughtered like moths to a flame, then turned off the screen.
“Even my 5th Order Knights and Fortresses are being defeated so easily? How terrifying~“
