Chapter 75: A Surprising Identity
Luo Yuxi pushed open the mansion door and walked in, seeing Alice sitting on the sofa, her posture unchanged. She didn’t know how to begin.
“Well, you’re back so soon. Did you miss me? Are you here to relieve your loneliness~?”
“I have no old feelings for you. I’m here for only one thing…”
Before Luo Yuxi could finish, the bat on her shoulder flew towards Alice, so fast that neither of them could react. Alice was about to defend herself when she felt something clinging to her leg.
“Princess! I’ve finally found you! I’ve been looking for you for so long! Sob!”
“Who are you?! Do I know you? Get off me!!”
Alice shook her leg, trying to dislodge the red-haired vampire girl, but she clung to her like glue. Frustrated, Alice looked at Luo Yuxi.
“Is this your friend…? What a surprise!”
“She’s probably just excited. Don’t look at me, I don’t know…”
Luo Yuxi looked away, feigning ignorance. Alice looked at the girl clinging to her leg.
“You called me ‘Princess,’ are you mistaken? I don’t remember any royalty in my family…”
“You are the princess, I would never be mistaken! Your appearance, your aura, they’re almost identical to Lady Lilith’s!”
“You know my mother?”
Alice was puzzled. In her memory, her mother was a kind and gentle person, a vampire who had no contact with other vampires.
“Yes, your mother was the wisest queen in the empire’s history, the most revered monarch!”
“You must be mistaken. My mother and father were just ordinary mer—”
Alice paused, her mother’s familiar face suddenly blurring in her mind. Even the memory of her father, a role that should have been present in her life, was gone, as if he had never existed.
“Damn it, why? Why suddenly…?”
“I am Vicky, the Queen’s most trusted vassal. I would never mistake her aura!”
Luo Yuxi, watching the two, had thought their reunion would be simple, but seeing Alice’s confused expression, she realized things weren’t that straightforward.
“Why? Why can’t I remember?!”
“Princess, what’s wrong? Princess?”
Alice clutched her head in pain. The door opened, and Isabelle entered. She glanced at the scene: Alice in distress, an unknown vampire girl, and the clueless Luo Yuxi.
“No… Alice can’t accept the truth yet…”
Isabelle approached. Vicky looked at the unfamiliar human girl and was about to question her when a wave of dizziness washed over her. She released Alice’s leg and collapsed.
“I can’t move, I feel so weak…”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t let my sister be exposed to you yet…”
Isabelle sat down on the sofa, then gently covered Alice’s eyes, humming a lullaby. Alice, hearing the familiar tune, felt her consciousness fade, and she fell asleep.
“Don’t think about anything, it’s all a dream…”
Isabelle gently laid Alice’s head on her lap and continued to hum. Luo Yuxi looked at Isabelle, who had incapacitated a vampire elite with such ease. A powerless human? Was she really not just pretending?
“Nun Luo Yuxi, if you could, please keep this a secret from my sister. I don’t want to trouble her…”
“Your relationship isn’t that good, is it? Is this also your mask…?”
“I never wear a mask, because I’ve never taken it off…”
“You’re dangerous.”
Luo Yuxi, not wanting to get any more involved, turned to leave. As she reached the door, Isabelle said,
“Thank you…”
Luo Yuxi didn’t know who she was thanking. She paused for a moment, then left. Meanwhile, in her dream, Alice felt a warmth she didn’t want to wake from.
“So warm, I want to stay here forever…”
“If you’re comfortable, then just lie here~”
Alice opened her eyes and saw a familiar face with long, white hair, a gentle and loving expression, a soft and familiar voice. She felt like a child again.
“My daughter has grown up, I can finally rest assured~”
“Mother? Who are you really? My father, who is my father? Why don’t I have any memories of him?”
Alice, even in her dream, had so many questions, but knowing it was just a dream, she could only ask one.
“Are you tired? Rest for a while~”
“Yes… goodnight, Mother…”
Outside the dream, Isabelle looked at her sleeping sister, a faint smile on her lips, her expression complex. After a moment of hesitation, she returned to her usual self.
“Lady Lilith, what should I do…?”
