Chapter 37
“Very good. Making Me use my sword for defense, it’s progress for you ants.”
For the first time in the entire battle, Angus used his longsword to block an attack.
After piercing the shield, the power of the Holy Light spear was greatly weakened. Easily thrusting his sword into the ground, he let the magic strike the blade to neutralize the attack.
“Damn it. The battle has lasted this long, yet the opponent still seems to have plenty of leeway. Meanwhile, my soldiers are constantly decreasing…”
Glenn began to feel hot and sweaty. How long has it been since he was this serious? He stared intently at the sword skills and magic released by the enemy, trying to find a way to defeat him.
With every all-out attack launched, the Land Sword Infantry decreased by a circle as if blossoming outwards from the center.
To weaken the power of Angus’s sword skills and magic, how many mages were chanting non-stop? Consuming all their magic power, just for that moment of victory.
Every usable move had been used, yet Angus was like a tireless perpetual motion machine. His sword-swinging speed didn’t slow down in the slightest; instead, it intensified. In just a few minutes, over a thousand land soldiers and five hundred mages died tragically at Angus’s hands alone. Countless lancers were also unhorsed.
Ernest, the commander of the Land Sword Infantry, believed that the only surviving female Fallen Angel among the many, Anvir, was the breakthrough point.
“Hey, Fallen Angel over there! Do you still want this woman? Throw away your sword quickly, or I’ll kill her right now.”
Ernest grabbed the defeated Anvir by the hand and held his sword against her neck, drawing a line of blood on her tender skin to threaten Angus.
“Anvir!”
“Commander, please kill me.”
Her black feathers trembling, Anvir weakly pleaded with Angus.
Threatening with a hostage? Truly despicable.
Glenn despised Ernest’s behavior. However, the sooner Angus was subdued, the fewer casualties there would be. Ernest was probably considering the big picture too. After all, the eastward expansion mission had to continue; they couldn’t abandon the King’s orders just because of this obstruction.
Ernest stood behind Anvir. If Angus attacked Ernest, he would inevitably hurt Anvir. Although Angus’s sword skills were exquisite, they were mostly large-scale area attacks. His only single-target thrust couldn’t be used because Anvir was being used as a meat shield.
“Humans are as ugly as ever.”
Without looking back, Angus slowly lowered his sword. The hard longsword made a metallic clatter against the dirt. His blood-stained pitch-black trench coat fluttered in the wind.
“Commander! Please don’t worry about me!”
“Shut up, you bastard Fallen Angel! General Glenn, now is the perfect time. Hurry up and execute this demon on the spot… Guk…”
“Human. Kill.”
Blood gushed from Ernest’s throat. A delicate, dark-skinned small hand had pierced through his chest, and his feet began to float off the ground.
A pitch-black teleportation gate opened amidst the tight encirclement of Strip soldiers.
A girl wearing black lingerie, holding a long spear, walked out of the teleportation gate with Ernest skewered on it.
The surrounding soldiers couldn’t help but step back, but their eyes couldn’t leave that metallic-sheened dark skin, and their lower bodies began to harden.
“Woah…”
Next to walk out was a suit of armor.
Silver-white all over, red light shot out from the tight helmet slit. The armor, adorned with various patterns on its surface, emitted a pure white light. It didn’t look like cheap goods one could buy casually at a weapon shop, and it also highlighted the owner’s noble status.
The armor supported Anvir, who was exhausted and about to fall.
Finally, a small boot embroidered with red roses stepped out of the void… followed by eye-catching white twin-tails, Gothic attire with inverted crosses, and a girl wearing a silver mask stepped out of the pitch-black teleportation gate.
The sky began to darken, sending shivers down everyone’s spine.
