Chapter 100: Cunning Fox
1:00 AM.
The banquet had long ended.
Guests snored loudly, some on tables, others beneath them.
Diana was asleep.
Her small body was hidden by the long tablecloth, unnoticed by the maids cleaning up.
Clutching a corner of the fragrant tablecloth, Diana slept soundly, drool dripping from her lips.
Her nose twitched; she was about to sneeze.
A sudden jerk of her head woke her up, a sharp pain shooting through her scalp.
“Ow! That hurts!”
Diana clutched her head, her eyes still blurry, a mild concussion from hitting the table. She was about to cry. “Lena… waaaah… Senior Weakling, where are you…? Senior…”
She sobbed softly.
No attendants came to check on her, no maids offered a warm towel.
The only sound was the deafening snoring of the other guests.
Diana suddenly realized she wasn’t at home, and she carefully crawled out from under the table.
“So dark…”
The room was pitch black, and it took her a while to adjust.
In the dim moonlight, she saw a shimmering blue light, pulsing rhythmically.
“I remember being at Senior’s house, then hiding under the table because I was scared… then I fell asleep!!”
Recalling the details, Diana’s fear subsided.
“So, the family dinner is over… no one even woke me up, didn’t they notice I was gone?”
How mean.
Diana paced back and forth, looking out the window at the night scenery, sighing sadly.
Her hand touched something hard, like a rock.
Diana jumped, startled. “What the hell?!”
“What the hell what…”
Butch brushed away the small hand on his chest, not minding the intrusion, and stretched.
“I haven’t slept so soundly in ages, it’s good to be home, no need to constantly watch the sea…”
“You, you, you!”
Diana jumped back, pointing at the pulsing blue light, which revealed a fierce, azure dragon tattoo. “What are you?!”
It was Butch’s martial arts avatar, the Azure Dragon King, Nadrei.
“Oh, this? Don’t mind the details, it glows at night because I’m constantly channeling my Martial Qi. As long as I’m breathing, it will pulse with my breath.”
Butch demonstrated, the blue light intensifying, illuminating the entire hall.
Diana finally saw Butch clearly, and he, in turn, recognized her, his eyes widening in surprise.
“Little Highness?”
“Ah… yes, it’s me.”
“It really is Little Highness! Woohoo! A live one!” Butch excitedly scooped Diana up into his arms, lifting her high, the Azure Dragon tattoo glowing brighter.
“Look at that onion-head hair color, mm-hmm, no mistaking it. When I left, Little Highness couldn’t even crawl, still babbling, I can’t believe you’ve grown so much.”
“Ugh! Put me down, weakling!”
Diana kicked her legs, but her weak attacks were ineffective.
“Sorry, I got excited.”
Butch put Diana down, gently patting her head with his rough hand.
Incredibly condescending.
What the hell!
His patronizing attitude annoyed Diana. “Hey! Don’t touch my head, did you hear me?!”
But Butch seemed to ignore her, murmuring, “…I should call my little sister, but she’s probably asleep at this hour.”
“Are you even listening to me?! Hey! Senior Weakling’s weakling brother!” Diana was furious. Like father, like son, the entire Falmouth family was her nemesis.
“Oh? You know my little sister?” Butch finally snapped out of his thoughts, grinning. “That makes things much easier.”
“Wait! What are you doing?! Don’t touch me! Senior, help me!!”
…
Without asking any questions, Butch assumed Diana was Lena’s late-night visitor.
And as a good older brother, he had to support his sister’s love life, diligently playing matchmaker.
So—
He grabbed Diana by the collar and tossed her into Lena’s bedroom, closing the door behind him.
“…What kind of brother is he, clearly a siscon! An idiot! Pah!”
Diana cursed under her breath, groping for the doorknob.
Although she had been here once, who would remember the details of a room? And with the lights off, Diana could only fumble around in the dark, searching for the exit.
“Mmm…” A soft moan came from the bed, incredibly seductive.
Diana froze, her heart pounding.
She slowly turned around, but saw nothing, the lump under the blanket still two figures intertwined, her presence seemingly not disturbing Lena’s sleep.
What was she afraid of…?
Diana quickened her movements, wanting to escape quickly.
If she was discovered, it would be hard to explain. She didn’t want to be spanked again; her bottom still hurt from last time.
“Found it, heh.”
She turned the doorknob, gently pushing.
Diana saw a bright future, even planning which food stall to visit on her way home.
“Why won’t it open? Strange?”
She pushed harder—
Using all her strength, Diana’s meager stamina quickly depleted, but the door, instead of opening, moved slightly inward.
Someone was pushing from the other side?!
Clever as she was, Diana realized this, easing her pressure and stepping back, then dodging as the person outside stumbled into the room, landing face-first on the floor.
Now’s her chance!
Diana made a run for it, the sound of the fall loud enough to wake a light sleeper.
She wasn’t sure if Lena would wake up, but she couldn’t stay here any longer.
Ignore! Run!
The door was within reach, the hallway visible, Diana was almost there…
But just as she was about to escape, her gaze was drawn downwards, and in the moment before she fell, she saw a fluffy, cotton candy-like golden tail by her feet.
Where the hell did this fox come from…
Damn it!
In slow motion, her face met the floor, and Diana’s vision went black, losing consciousness briefly.
Countless golden stars swirled around her, adding to her already injured head.
“Ugh… my head hurts…”
The little fox girl sat up groggily, her tail wrapped around her head.
“Huh? Is that… Sister Diana?”
“Damn fox, I’ll pluck all your fur and make a duster!”
Diana, seeing red, lunged at Ling Ling…
