This was a very rich and nuanced storyline. The storyline had so much depth, the first time I’ve read a reincarnation story with a storyline so rich. You’d love it a lot.
I do appreciate that the romance does not take away from the rest of the storyline. The author found a way to balance it. It is neither too much of the focal point or too little.
As for their romance, it was cute at first, but during the abandonment and reunion arc, I didn’t care much for it. Personally, I think the author did not handle it as well as they should have, and swept so many things under the rug. I felt like they were to complacent of Mu Tao’s behavior.
And Li Yu never truly got that chance to express anger through the whole process. I felt like through everything, from having to deal with a Annoying System, and then the compatibility and blacking meters looming, she wasn’t given that chance to feel frustrated enough.
And just the fact that Mu Tao not knowing that Li Yu was conscious and yet still going on with her plan was very distasteful to me. I do understand because of the demon bone and all that, and it was also part of the main storyline.
But that still doesn’t make me comfortable. I understand what influenced her behavior, but I don’t have to accept or dismiss the wrong she did.
I do appreciate how it ended. After the start of the side story, I was able to enjoy their romance and the sheer calmness.
If you are looking for a purely romance book then this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a book with a great storyline and something new, this is 100% for you.
