Shen Sheng said disdainfully, “You might as well just take aphrodisiacs directly.”
A blush rose on Jiang Wan’s face. She lowered her head, not daring to look at her, and replied, “This kind has no harmful effects on the body.”
“Fine, let’s eat.” Shen Sheng took a large bite.
Jiang Wan smiled as she watched her.
After finishing the fruit, Jiang Wan led Shen Sheng to a particular hall.
The hall was filled with rising steam and swirling mist. Twin Lotuses bloomed in the pool. Jiang Wan reminded her, “This is where successive Clan Leaders have completed the wedding ceremony.”
“It can only be used once in a lifetime?” Shen Sheng grasped another layer of meaning.
Jiang Wan nodded.
Shen Sheng didn’t say more. She took the first step inside. Jiang Wan followed.
There were no waiting maidservants. The pool water constantly surged with heat. Reaching out to touch it, the water was warm, gliding over her skin, incredibly comfortable.
Just the touch on her hand felt wonderful. How much better would it feel to take off her clothes and slip in?
Shen Sheng entered the water first. The steam hid the view below her shoulders. Looking up, Jiang Wan could only see her bare shoulders above the water.
After a moment’s hesitation, Jiang Wan also entered the pool. Shen Sheng turned her back, listening to the sounds behind her, her heart leaping into her throat.
Soon, Shen Sheng turned around to face Jiang Wan. In that moment, she surrendered completely. She smiled gently, took the initiative to lean closer, and kissed the corner of Jiang Wan’s bright lips.
Jiang Wan didn’t refuse. She pressed her body close to Shen Sheng’s, her heartbeat suddenly accelerating.
The two women in the water were passionate, like fire. Their faces were flushed red and burning from the steam. Shen Sheng’s vision swam for a moment before finally settling on Jiang Wan’s face.
Jiang Wan gazes back at her, her pupils reflecting Shen Sheng’s own image.
In each other’s eyes, there was only the other.
The Twin Lotuses bloomed in the pool, dazzling and eye-catching.
Their gazes slowly swept over each other’s bodies, inch by inch. A sense of shame gradually overtook reason. Shen Sheng trapped Jiang Wan in a corner, the corners of her eyes tinted red. “Let me teach you.”
Jiang Wan frowned, as if wanting to explain. “I know how, too.”
Having said this, she bit down hard on her lip, her beautiful eyes shimmering with moisture. Shen Sheng slowly drew closer, kissing the corner of her lips.
The burning kisses gradually trailed down towards her heart. And Jiang Wan’s breathing, at last, became completely unsteady.
The steam curled, the fragrance swirled, and her heart beat even faster now. The blood in her veins began to heat.
Time was silent. They did many shameful things.
Unbeknownst to them, the Twin Lotuses began to wither, and finally, vanished completely.
The day after the wedding, inside and outside the palace, and throughout Prajna City, a joyous atmosphere prevailed. Seven-Colored Auspicious Clouds hung in the sky.
The Elders waited in the main hall for the newlyweds. Sang Xuan sat at the last seat, leaning lazily against a cushion. She yawned carelessly and said, “Yesterday, I met a little Immortal who was reciting poetry to me. Something like, ‘Guan-guan cry the ospreys, on the islet in the river…'”
Ruo Wu burst out laughing. “What did you say back?”
“I sent the person flying with one palm strike. Absolutely shameless,” Sang Xuan grumbled.
The other six were amused into laughter. Fu Kong teased, “Indeed shameless. But when you were thick-skinned enough to beg for a Marrow Cleansing Pill for that girl, did you know shame then?”
Sang Xuan frowned. “That’s different! We love each other.”
“Is that so? If she likes you, why doesn’t she Form a Contract with you? Look at the Clan Leader and her wife. They go in and out together. How wonderful.”
“Sister Huang Yun and Sister Ruo Wu have a child, and even they haven’t Formed a Contract,” Sang Xuan shamelessly dragged her older sisters down with her.
Huang Yun glanced at her. “You youngsters with your little flings, how can you compare to us? We both reached this level with our own strength.”
“That’s not a fair comparison,” Sang Xuan was unhappy. “You’re all ganging up to bully me.”
The group laughed and joked. Just as Sang Xuan was about to retort, someone rushed in, flustered. “There’s trouble!”
“What trouble?”
“The Winged Race came for the wedding banquet, but their little princess has gone missing.”
Sang Xuan frowned. “Could she have just run off to play?”
“They want to search the South River.”
“Absolutely not,” Fu Kong immediately objected. “Under no circumstances are they allowed into the South River. Didn’t you tell them to stay away from the South River?”
“We did, but they won’t listen. They insist on searching themselves.”
Ruo Wu asked, “Is she truly lost, or is this a trite excuse? If they want to enter the water, do they think everyone in Prajna City is a pushover? Tell them to provide proof. Otherwise, they stay away from the South River.”
Her words carried a nuanced implication.
Shen Sheng, who was standing outside, heard this and instinctively looked at Jiang Wan.
As if nothing were amiss, Jiang Wan stepped over the threshold. “Tell them we will send people to search underwater. If they dare take one step closer, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
The messenger immediately dashed away.
Jiang Wan led Shen Sheng inside and sat down. She spoke first, “The leader of the Winged Race came a few years ago. I refused him. This move today reeks of ulterior motives.”
Shen Sheng didn’t think much about it. Fu Kong, sitting beside her, sneered, “The Winged Race is notoriously sly. They’ve been coveting the South River for more than just a day or two. To use such a clumsy ploy…”
“Was there actually a princess from the Winged Race here yesterday?” Sang Xuan asked a crucial question.
Everyone looked at each other.
“Ordinary Immortals left last night. We can’t honestly recall if this princess was even present. Maybe she left with someone else. How can the Winged Race be so sure she went into the water?”
“Forget it. I’ll go down myself,” Jiang Wan stood up and smoothly pulled Shen Sheng up with her. “Let’s go together.”
The two left in a hurry.
Inside the hall, Sang Xuan sighed. “Why do you think the Clan Leader insists on bringing the wife along?”
“Would you rather she bring a blockhead like you?” Fu Kong said helplessly. “They are now married and have Formed a Contract. Wherever they go, they are a pair. What about you?”
The topic fell back on Sang Xuan, who raised her hands in surrender. “I won’t ask anymore. My fault, my fault. I’ll go have a look too.”
“Don’t you go. Sit down and wait for news,” Fu Kong stopped Sang Xuan.
The newlyweds were out handling business. The Clan Leader’s Spiritual Power was deep and profound. Having a tagalong behind them would just be a nuisance to their conversation.
Sang Xuan fumed. “You’re all bullying me because I’m single!”
“You’re single? Where did the Marrow Cleansing Pill go? Did you feed it to the dogs?” Er Kong rolled her eyes. “When you were begging for it, you spoke so passionately. Now that it’s eaten, you’re saying you’re single. Pah!”
Sang Xuan covered her face and sat down. “Why don’t you like her?”
“We’re not optimistic. After all, you traded a hundred years of freedom for that Marrow Cleansing Pill, and you’re still single in the end,” Ruo Wu sighed softly.
Sang Xuan didn’t say a word. How annoying. Why did these people always speak the brutal truth?
Would it kill them to tell a few nice-sounding lies?
Shen Sheng met the Winged Race. Their leader was a young man, appearing in his early twenties in mortal terms, but she knew this youth before her was at least two thousand years old.
The man, Ming Chen, was very respectful upon seeing Jiang Wan. He bowed and explained the situation regarding his missing sister.
His sister, Wang You, was curious about the South River and had tried several times to sneak into it, but had always been discovered.
This time, she was gone, and they believed Wang You had secretly entered the South River. They had waited all night, originally thinking she would return, but… she hadn’t come back.
Jiang Wan’s tone was sharp. “You knew she went into the South River, so you waited. Only now, when she hasn’t returned, do you speak up. You have no respect whatsoever for our South River’s rules.”
Ming Chen lowered his head, deeply ashamed, his ears turning red. “I apologize. We ask Clan Leader Jiang to please lend a hand.”
Shen Sheng lowered her long lashes and said nothing.
Next, Jiang Wan ordered people to watch Ming Chen’s group, then went into the water with Shen Sheng.
There were guards stationed underwater. The Seal area was undisturbed; no one had approached. Jiang Wan sighed in relief and sent out her divine sense to search for Wang You.
Shen Sheng stood beside her, keeping guard.
Jiang Wan quickly opened her eyes and led Shen Sheng away, swimming further upwards.
“Is she underwater?” Shen Sheng caught up to Jiang Wan.
Over the past few days, she’d learned to move freely within the South River.
Jiang Wan replied, “She’s here.”
Shen Sheng asked her, “Could this be some kind of conspiracy?”
Jiang Wan stopped and waited for Shen Sheng to catch up, then took her hand. “Indeed, it’s highly unusual.”
There was no scenery underwater in the South River. There was no reason to linger for an entire night without coming up.
After swimming for a while, they spotted a young woman in pink lingering in the distance. Jiang Wan pursued her. “Princess Wang You.”
The pink-clad woman immediately tried to flee. Not bothering to give chase, Jiang Wan raised a massive Tide, trapping the girl within it.
The two caught up. The girl in pink was still struggling. Seeing Jiang Wan approach, she glared at them with annoyance and resentment. “Release me! I am the Princess of the Winged Race!”
Jiang Wan’s anger flared. With a flick of her sleeve, the Tide surged, and Wang You was flung directly out of the water.
Wang You landed disgracefully on the bank, coughing up water, her eyes filled with venom. “There’s an Evil Devil hiding at the bottom of the South River! The South River is colluding with Devils!”
