“Which one looks better?”
Gu Liuguang flipped through the photos back and forth. She was too familiar with her own face—familiar to the point of numbness—and couldn’t see any beauty in them at all. She could only pick based on feeling.
The photos on the sofa were actually similar to the ones taken on the bed. The only difference was that she had draped a fluffy jacket over herself on the sofa. Her long, straight, snow-white legs were wrapped in the skirt hem, occasionally slipping to reveal a glimpse of creamy skin.
The high heels were something the System had told her to wear, saying that everyone online paired outfits like this.
Gu Liuguang had always worried the shoes would dirty the sofa, even though they were brand new and spotless. She curled up her body and lifted her feet. Because of the high heels, her insteps were taut and straight, as if bearing some unbearable force, revealing jade-like veins that made one want to cradle them and play with them carefully.
Her hands pressed forcefully upward against the sofa armrest, her head pillowed on her arms, long hair scattered over her snowy skin and slender neck. The gemstone necklace at her throat and the delicate earrings were half-hidden, like a hazy portrait of a beauty.
She looked relaxed and lazy, but in reality, Gu Liuguang’s entire body was tense. If she relaxed even a little, the System would nag that it wasn’t beautiful enough, that she looked too hunched and slouched.
God only knew how she could be hunched and slouched while lying on the sofa. For the mission, Gu Liuguang had gone all out.
Fortunately, the photos turned out well. The styling and poses were on point, and even the sofa looked luxurious, exuding a decadent, moneyed beauty vibe of extravagance.
The bathroom shots were even bolder. The System kept telling her to strike poses. The room lights were off, with only the bathroom light on.
The System still felt it wasn’t enough and found an angle in the bathroom to set up a lamp, plus another ambient light in the room.
Gu Liuguang said that this way, no one could even see her face—just a dark silhouette.
System: 【Do you know what women want to see after a tiring day at work?】
Gu Liuguang: ……
Anyway, all she wanted was to watch dramas—ideally ones featuring more of Lin Shixia’s face, with occasional clips of Ye Qingying for flavor.
The System’s tone deepened as it guided her: 【Wouldn’t you want to watch Lin Shixia dance in front of you?】
Gu Liuguang: 【……Yes.】
Nude might look even better.
Gu Liuguang suddenly had a realization. After that, she cooperated more actively with the System, though she still lacked confidence, feeling like she might not be attractive enough to draw Lin Shixia.
She could only hope for the plot to carry her.
Gu Liuguang had no intention of sending all these photos to everyone. If Lin Shixia wasn’t among them, she could still send other unsent ones to Lin Shixia later.
She just didn’t know if Lin Shixia would ask her for photos.
Xiao Yao messaged her, saying that if these bosses had no specific requests, she could just send any photo.
【Xiao Yao: If they’re too revealing, remember not to show your face.】
Gu Liuguang still didn’t know what “too revealing” meant. She felt embarrassed and ashamed just looking at these photos herself, so she was even too shy to send them to Xiao Yao for analysis.
She could only interpret it herself and considered cropping her face out.
The System seemed excited: 【These photos don’t even show your face clearly anyway. It’s fine to send them.】
Seeing how invested the System was, Gu Liuguang simply let it decide which one to send.
Now it was the System’s turn to hesitate. It thought every photo was perfect, but sending them all would let these people take too much advantage.
After thinking it over, it finally sent the bed photo.
Gu Liuguang tapped to mass send the photo. Afterward, she fretted anxiously, “Won’t this make me look too slutty?”
The System glanced at Gu Liuguang again and again, thinking to itself: This is nothing—what hadn’t its host seen that was even sluttier?
“Will this mass send function glitch or something?”
After sending the message, Gu Liuguang couldn’t help refreshing the chat history obsessively. She switched to the home screen, opened Douyin and closed it again, then back to WeChat. After waiting a while with no replies, she grew uneasy.
“Did the internet go out and the message didn’t send?” Gu Liuguang frantically refreshed WeChat, uncertain. No red exclamation marks appeared in the chat list, and the WiFi signal was fine.
She scrolled down a couple times before realizing something was wrong. Her brows furrowed tightly as she asked the System in panic, “What do I do? Why did it mass send to so many people!”
She had no habit of deleting chats. Deleting required long-pressing, and since switching WeChat accounts, her messages weren’t as cluttered, so she was even lazier about it.
The System felt suffocated too. It was the host who did something stupid—why did it, a mere System, feel socially mortified?
It forced itself to stay calm: 【First, check if you can recall it.】
Before it finished speaking, it saw Gu Liuguang long-press Su Tian’s chat and select delete from the options.
System: ……
The System felt like it was losing its voice: 【That only deletes the chat on your end. Su Tian still has the record.】
Feeling mortified, Gu Liuguang panicked so hard tears welled up. Her cheeks flushed crimson, the red spreading down her jade-like neck and threatening to go lower. It was easy to imagine her whole body turning beet red, even her delicate fingers tinged with pale pink at the knuckles.
“What do I do then?” Gu Liuguang felt so embarrassed she wanted to vanish from the Earth.
System: 【Go into the chat, long-press the sent photo, and recall it.】
Gu Liuguang hurriedly followed the System’s instructions. Fortunately, not many people had received it. She opened Zhang Xibai’s chat: 【Zhang Xibai hasn’t replied yet. Good, she definitely hasn’t seen it, or she’d say something weird again……】
The System let out a long breath too: 【From now on, delete these people’s chats after talking to avoid more mix-ups.】
It wasn’t pride in its host’s looks—it was just that its photography skills were too good. It really worried Zhang Xibai might fall for the host because of these photos someday.
Her rose-tinted fingers long-pressed the photo. Gu Liuguang quickly hit delete, and the shameful photo that made her blush finally vanished from the chat.
Gu Liuguang sighed in relief and pressed the back of her hand to her face to cool it down. She vented at the System in a small outburst: 【I’m never taking these kinds of photos again! Can’t we just grab fakes from online?】
The System stared wordlessly at the chat, now over two minutes old. It opened its nonexistent mouth but said nothing.
Though the photo was recalled, the incident had happened, and Gu Liuguang still felt hot all over. She took off the fluffy, soft jacket, propped her long legs up on the sofa armrest, and scrolled through the chat list to check for more mistakes.
“Fortunately, not many got it wrong. Su Tian……” Gu Liuguang bit her lip. Though Su Tian often called herself Gu Liuguang’s dog in front of her and insisted on changing her own nickname to Little Dog, Gu Liuguang always thought it was a joke. Still, having Su Tian see her in such disheveled state was pretty embarrassing.
After desperately salvaging the “mistake,” Gu Liuguang felt more at ease. Her fingers lazily swiped the screen as she cleaned up the chat list, leaving only the three accounts that might be Lin Shixia: “Why haven’t these three responded at all?”
She switched to her main WeChat. Lin Shixia’s last message was still from when she’d just wrapped filming, saying she had a dinner with others that night and might not get back to the hotel until after midnight, asking if Gu Liuguang wanted anything lately.
“If it’s Lin Shixia, it’s normal she hasn’t seen the photo yet.” Gu Liuguang frowned in a pitiable way. She tugged at her camisole strap; the neckline was too low, barely containing her chest as it pressed against her hand.
With no replies, Gu Liuguang started checking the responses from these three accounts. Account One said she had night shoots that evening, but Lin Shixia had mentioned wrapping up for dinner……
Better wait and see.
Without replies, Gu Liuguang grew anxious about the mission. She felt she had zero appeal to Lin Shixia, while also suspecting Lin Shixia wasn’t among these three.
After showering, checking in at the Super Topic, and posting a photo, just as she set up her tablet to watch dramas, WeChat notifications started popping up at the top.
First Zhang Xibai messaged, then Su Tian, one after another.
【Zhang Xibai: The photo looks great. Did you take it yourself?】
【Zhang Xibai: That necklace is too fake. I’ll send you a real one tomorrow.】
【Zhang Xibai: Xiang House skirt? It looks beautiful on you. Got more?】
【Zhang Xibai: Who was this meant for?】
As if finally realizing, Zhang Xibai’s messages turned into a machine gun barrage, ending with a video call.
Gu Liuguang blanked for a moment. Zhang Xibai’s spam made her miss the drama plot. It took a while before she shakily reached for the tablet.
Photo?
What photo? Hadn’t she recalled it? Did Zhang Xibai see it?
