Chapter 51:
Seeing He Ziyu’s gaze on the jade pendant, Mu Sixue’s thoughts stirred. She suppressed the urge to leave. “Have you seen this jade pendant before?”
“Can I take a look?” He Ziyu asked.
Mu Sixue took off the jade pendant and handed it to He Ziyu. As she took it, their hands brushed across the table. Mu Sixue suddenly felt a slight prick on her finger. She looked down. A transparent toothpick was sticking out from the table.
Seeing her frown, He Ziyu didn’t even look at the jade pendant. She slammed her fist on the table and scolded, “This waiter is so careless!”
She pressed the bell, and a line of attendants and waiters were called in. The waiter was reprimanded and stood with his head down, not saying a word.
The second assistant, hearing the commotion, also came in and asked, “President Mu, are you alright?”
Mu Sixue said lightly, “I’m fine.”
A strange premonition washed over her.
“This is the first time I’ve invited Sixue to a meal, but I’ve accidentally let you get hurt. It’s my fault,” He Ziyu said, filling her own glass with wine and raising it high. “Sixue, if you’re willing to forgive me, please drink this with me, okay?”
She called her “Sixue” again and again, turning a deaf ear to Mu Sixue’s direct request to be called “Miss Mu.” She was full of affection, her voice soft and gentle.
The second assistant was a little anxious. She remembered that before the young Chairwoman Yan had left, she had told her that President Mu was not a good drinker and couldn’t drink too much.
Yan Qinghe had also forbidden her from arranging any business talks with alcohol for Mu Sixue during her absence.
The second assistant wanted to block the drink for Mu Sixue, but in this room, she, a mere assistant, had no say.
She saw He Ziyu’s burly attendants in suits and sunglasses, standing like pillars outside the door.
The second assistant was in a dilemma. Before she could decide, she was asked to leave again. Only He Ziyu and Mu Sixue were left in the private room.
Why does this feel so much like a trap? She had a bad feeling. She made an excuse to go to the restroom, her palms sweating, clutching her phone. She had to inform the young Chairwoman Yan.
The man in black stood straight, turning in her direction. His eyes behind the sunglasses glanced at her, as if he had seen something.
Mu Sixue didn’t accept the glass of wine. She said coldly, “If Miss He has nothing else, I’ll be leaving.”
He Ziyu drank three glasses of wine in a row. Her peach-blossom eyes were fixed on Mu Sixue, full of affection and a deep meaning.
Her face was also red, and she was a little drunk.
Mu Sixue frowned and was about to get up when He Ziyu said, “Sixue, don’t go.”
“Your jade pendant is still in my hand.” She held it, tossing it up and down. She was drunk, and one unsteady hand would send it falling to the ground.
“Please return it, Miss He.”
Mu Sixue had long since discovered that this thing was definitely not He Ziyu’s. She was not the person in her memory.
He Ziyu played with the jade pendant like a juggler, holding it up to the light. “I’ve seen it before.”
Mu Sixue saw through her. “Miss He has had too much to drink tonight.”
“The shape of the jade pendant is the pottery held by the goddess of the Seine. It’s hollow in the middle, symbolizing the essence of the sun and moon, the water of the root, and it means good luck,” He Ziyu explained the origin.
The red wine in the wine glass shone under the crystal chandelier. Mu Sixue moved the wine away. “Miss He is very knowledgeable. This jade pendant is something I carry with me. Please return it to me.”
He Ziyu searched her memory for her impression of this object. “Where did Sixue get this? Is it from your beloved?”
That was why she was so nervous. Her mood suddenly improved. If so, wouldn’t Yan Qinghe’s heart be broken?
Mu Sixue pursed her lips and said nothing. He Ziyu caressed the jade pendant ambiguously and placed it in Mu Sixue’s palm.
Just as their fingertips touched and Mu Sixue was about to take back the jade pendant, she suddenly grabbed Mu Sixue’s hand.
This was not the strength of a beta. Mu Sixue was shocked. In the air, the scent of S-class alpha red wine pheromones, far hotter than the ordinary red wine in the restaurant, expanded and fermented in the air.
“Sixue, I like you very much. Can you accept my pursuit?”
He Ziyu’s words were gentle, but her actions were quite domineering.
Mu Sixue’s soft wrist was soon squeezed into a red circle. She looked up coldly at He Ziyu. The other’s eyes were domineering and resentful, with no trace of affection.
This person was not the person she was looking for.
That person would not have such a strange and sinister look.

Yan Qinghe was still in the car on the way to the airport when she suddenly received a call from her second assistant.
The second assistant’s voice was panicked and weak, her words tense. She told Yan Qinghe everything she had seen.
“What! He Ziyu invited President Mu to dinner and kept trying to get her drunk?”
Hearing that He Ziyu was surrounded by many attendants, Yan Qinghe’s heart tightened. The He family’s power was mixed, with connections in both the legal and illegal worlds. Some of He Ziyu’s bodyguards had risen from the underworld.
“Did President Mu refuse?” her throat tightened.
She knew He Ziyu’s character. She usually looked gentle and proper, but since she could inherit He Qijian’s position, she was definitely not simple-minded.
She was not very familiar with this childhood friend. Besides the time she had run away from home and had been helped, she had also saved her once in return. Other than that, they were not very close.
The time she had been strongly invited to He Ziyu’s house, the other had touched her face while she was sleeping. The snake-like touch still made her feel disgusted when she thought about it.
Whether the other was an alpha or a beta, as long as she was He Ziyu, there was enough reason for her to be on guard.
That was why she had warned He Ziyu not to get close to Mu Sixue.
The warning hadn’t even cooled, and He Ziyu had already eagerly invited Mu Sixue out. What was she trying to do!
She didn’t have to think hard to know.
Bodyguards were on guard outside, and they were in a private room. She was trying to get Mu Sixue drunk and wouldn’t let anyone in.
The second assistant replied, “President Mu should have refused to drink.”
Her words were vague. She hadn’t seen clearly and had rushed out. Now she didn’t know what the situation was inside.
“You go in and keep an eye on them now. Protect President Mu. Don’t turn off your phone.”
The second assistant followed the order and ran in.
Yan Qinghe bit the inside of her lip, her heart pounding. A bad premonition made alarm bells ring in her heart.
She took out her spare phone. The phone, like a slippery fish, almost slipped from her trembling hand as she took it out.
Don’t panic, calm your heart!
She called He Ziyu’s phone, but it showed that she was busy.
He Ziyu had blocked her.
Yan Qinghe swallowed. “Driver, turn around. Go to the Yan Corporation’s private airport!”
Yan Manxing had bought her own private planes and private airports in several cities around H City in her early years. Yan Qinghe rarely used them to avoid being extravagant.
Before she had come of age, she had often seen Yan Manxing, in a leather jacket and high-end sunglasses, flying her private plane around for fun.
The moment she had come of age, she had learned to fly a plane from an instructor and had gotten her pilot’s license.
A private plane had less boarding time than a commercial one, and there was a direct route to the Jiangbin Grand Hotel.
Mu Sixue and He Ziyu were currently at that hotel. The He family had shares in the Jiangbin Grand Hotel, so it was He Ziyu’s territory. Therefore, Mu Sixue was in great danger if He Ziyu wanted to do something.
Yan Qinghe then called her first assistant and asked her to apply for an emergency route from the air traffic control department, preferably to be approved within 10 minutes.
She calculated the time in her head. A private plane was an hour faster than a commercial one. She could get to the Jiangbin Grand Hotel in 30 minutes at the fastest.
Now it all depended on whether the route application from her first assistant could be approved for an emergency passage.
She was doing two things at once. When her second assistant had already arrived in the room, she vaguely heard Mu Sixue’s voice refusing He Ziyu—
“I’m sorry, I don’t like you.”
“I’m more curious, as an S-class alpha, why do you pretend to be a beta?”
Yan Qinghe’s fist tightened. As expected, He Ziyu’s so-called devolution into a beta was a lie! Why did she deceive everyone!
Wait, how could Mu Sixue tell that He Ziyu was an alpha? Wasn’t she a beta?! Yan Qinghe’s mind raced. Due to her nervousness and flying thoughts, beads of sweat formed on her forehead.
She continued to listen intently—
Mu Sixue: “What’s in it for you?”
He Ziyu let out a soft “oh,” her tone rising. “I’m an alpha. Can’t I pursue you?”
She was being evasive, not answering Mu Sixue’s question directly.
Rustling. She vaguely heard the woman trying to break free.
Mu Sixue: “Miss He, please have some self-respect!”
Yan Qinghe couldn’t hold back any longer. She suddenly realized how foolish she had been. She shouted into the phone, “Second assistant, have He Ziyu answer the phone!”
Before long, He Ziyu’s sarcastic voice came through the phone. “What, are you heartbroken?”
Her lazy, light tone drilled into Yan Qinghe’s ears, making her head ache. Yan Qinghe said sternly, “What are you trying to do?”
“Let Mu Sixue go.”
“What if I don’t?” He Ziyu laughed, her laughter tinged with ice. “Don’t you not like betas and only like omegas?”
“Now you’re head over heels for such a beautiful beta. Don’t your words from before slap you in the face!” He Ziyu said, gritting her teeth at the end.
Before she could finish, the phone was taken by Mu Sixue. “Summer, I’m in private room 9 of the Jiangbin Grand Hotel… I can stay conscious for another twenty seconds. It would be best if you could come.”
“It’s okay if you can’t make it. Don’t blame yourself. After this is over, we’ll destroy the He family together.”
Yan Qinghe’s voice was choked. “Senior, I’ll be right there. Just hold on a little longer.”
She then turned to He Ziyu. “He Ziyu, H City is not your He family’s world. The Yan Corporation and your He family have cooperated for many years. If Mu Sixue loses a single hair tonight—”
Her eyes were like arrows, wanting to shoot at He Ziyu in H City.
“I will not only cut off all cooperation and not provide you with a single inhibitor, but I will also unite with the other three great families to bring your father down. I’ll make you understand that the Yan Corporation is not to be trifled with!”
Yan Qinghe’s eyes were crimson. After she finished speaking through gritted teeth, she received the news that her first assistant’s route had been approved. She stepped into the private plane…
Senior, I hope you can hold on! I’m coming!
Yan Qinghe’s lips were almost bitten through. She forced herself to calm down, her face cold, and flew towards H City.
***
Putting down the phone, she only had fifteen seconds. Mu Sixue assessed the situation. The second assistant had already been taken away by He Ziyu’s men.
He Ziyu hadn’t poisoned the wine, so why was her gland, and her whole body, surging with heat, and her mind was also hazy?
He Ziyu was three people away from her, her S-class alpha red wine pheromones filling the air. She sniffed and suddenly understood the purpose of the system’s extra layer of disguise.
She twirled her silver ring and called the system. [Is there a way for me to stay conscious?]
She could handle the rest on her own.
After a moment of silence, the system replied, [No, host.]
Mu Sixue bit her lip. Ten seconds left. She calculated the distance between them, took a step with her right foot, and suddenly stood up. Like a swallow skimming the water, before He Ziyu could react, one of Mu Sixue’s wrists had cuffed her left hand, as if it were clamped, unable to break free.
The woman’s soft palm held a hidden strength. Her slender, willow-like body moved as swiftly as the wind.
With a transfer of force, she lifted upwards with a crack. He Ziyu’s left wrist joint, like a domino, dislocated layer by layer, up to her shoulder joint.
Another crack of a dislocation, and a scream. He Ziyu’s eyes widened. The thought “Mu Sixue knows kung fu” hadn’t even crossed her mind when she was hit in the stomach with a punch, like being hit by a hammer.
She held back the heat in her throat and turned around, trying to grab Mu Sixue with her good right hand. The woman was extremely fast, like a light cloud obscuring the moon, and dodged her eagle-like pounce.
He Ziyu’s attack failed, but her waist was hit by the woman’s round knee. She could no longer move.
Then, a pair of long legs, with the force of lightning, kicked her in the buttocks. She flew straight out, her cheek making cool contact with the marble floor.
She landed like a stray dog.
Mu Sixue’s vision was already a little blurry. She bit the inside of her lip, her red lips deepening, to keep herself awake. He Ziyu’s attendants were gradually approaching, hearing the sound…
He Ziyu shouted, “Come in! Subdue…” Before she could finish, Mu Sixue was already floating like the wind, sitting sideways on her, her posture very elegant, like a fairy on a lotus.
“If you make another sound, Miss He’s gland will probably not be safe,” Mu Sixue’s voice was gradually weakening.
She suspected that He Ziyu had put poison on her jade pendant. When her hand was pricked, the poison on the jade pendant had entered her finger and circulated through her body, into her blood.
He Ziyu’s neck was held by Mu Sixue as if she were a sheep.
“Tell them not to come in,” Mu Sixue ordered coldly, her fingers tearing off the disguise on the back of He Ziyu’s neck. A green gland, the scent of red wine pheromones, she was an alpha.
“None of you are allowed in!” He Ziyu shouted.
“Give me the antidote,” Mu Sixue said, the back of her neck burning, her lips almost breaking, her grip tightening.
“There’s no antidote,” He Ziyu argued. A hissing sound, like a knife sliding, came from her gland. It was Mu Sixue’s fingernail.
Any closer, and her gland would be cut open.
“There is! There is!” He Ziyu’s eyes flickered. “It’s in my pocket. Let go of me, and I’ll give it to you.”
Mu Sixue didn’t relax, but she really couldn’t hold on much longer. She loosened her grip a little.
He Ziyu opened her pocket, took out a small knife, and, with a flip of her hand, was about to press it against Mu Sixue’s neck.
She was excited to find that her efforts were in vain, because Mu Sixue, like a falling swallow, fell straight to the ground.
He Ziyu laughed excitedly. “Take this woman to the top floor.”
She twisted her dislocated shoulder back into place and added fiercely, “To my bed!”
