Chapter 75:
When Yan Qinghe returned home, her whole mind was in a daze, filled with Mu Sixue’s every frown and smile, every glance and turn of her head.
She remembered that when she had left Mu Sixue’s house, she had wished her feet were glued to the door. Perhaps seeing her reluctance, Mu Sixue had asked her with a slight smile in her eyes if she wanted her to walk her downstairs.
It was just a few steps.
If it had been the Mu Sixue of yesterday, as a senior, asking her this, Yan Qinghe would have just thought she was being polite.
But today was different. It was her girlfriend who wanted to walk her downstairs. Yan Qinghe happily thought, was Mu Sixue also reluctant to part with her?
Her girlfriend’s “kindness” was something she couldn’t refuse.
She held onto Mu Sixue’s hand tightly, and the few steps they had to walk felt as slow as a long journey.
Their time together was short, and parting always came too soon. Yan Qinghe looked up at the falling night sky and, along with the brightest star in the night sky, winked at the woman. “How about I take Sixue back?”
She was not at ease with Mu Sixue. More than that, she didn’t want to part with her so soon.
It was strange. In her past life, she had experienced so much, but after meeting Mu Sixue, she was like a high school student in love.
So she foolishly walked Mu Sixue to her door again, which was equivalent to the two of them walking a stretch of road for nothing.
Mu Sixue looked at her with amusement. This back and forth was really a boring thing to do. But when a boring thing was done by a cute person, it became infinitely more interesting.
Just because that person was the cute Summer, she was willing to do all sorts of cute and silly things with her.
Perhaps after you fall for someone, you find everything they do cute. Before Summer left, she had held her and wouldn’t let go, her hands in her pockets, rubbing and rubbing.
She had whined and acted cute, “Senior, after walking outside, my hands are cold.”
It was so hard to be together, and now they had to part at night. Her heart was cold.
Her pitiful tone was as if they wouldn’t be able to see each other tomorrow.
Mu Sixue looked at Yan Qinghe’s uneasy expression and had a bit of a headache. How insecure was this person, or rather, how little confidence did she have in her, in herself?
At this moment, her sister, Mu Sichen, was probably in the washroom. At the door, it was just the two of them.
So she had to stand on her tiptoes again and, on her own initiative, do something that made her blush. She held back her shyness and raised her eyebrows, and said in a light and soothing voice, “Summer, we can see each other again tomorrow.”
But Yan Qinghe was gradually not satisfied with this form of address.
She had whispered in Mu Sixue’s ear, shyly bit her ear, and begged her to call her that.
At first, Mu Sixue was unwilling, but she couldn’t resist her pleading and had to say it in a low voice. Only then did Yan Qinghe leave with satisfaction.

After returning home, Yan Qinghe patted her excited face. She first walked around the second floor, then suddenly decided to go downstairs.
Housekeeper Zhou was busy downstairs, and the butler was tending to the flowers. They saw their young master, neatly dressed, as if she had just returned from outside, and hadn’t even changed into her home clothes.
Usually, the young master rarely came downstairs. Suddenly, she was wandering around them, which made them tremble with fear, reflecting on their recent work, wondering if they had done anything unsatisfactory.
Yan Qinghe touched her chin and suddenly said, “Butler, from tomorrow on, add another person’s authority to the Yan residence.”
“When you see her, you should treat her as you would me.”
The butler was puzzled. Was it to add back Miss Ji?
The young master’s answer was unexpected, and the butler was glad he hadn’t asked.
He was to give Mu Sixue the highest authority in the Yan residence, including free access, based on her previous visit records.
Housekeeper Zhou said, “Miss Mu also works at the Yan Corporation. Isn’t this inappropriate?” As the president, but with the authority of the chairman’s residence, wouldn’t it cause speculation?
Yan Qinghe smiled and looked at the old woman who had served her since she was a child. “She is the president, and also my girlfriend.”
Perhaps, in the near future, she would also become the lady of the Yan residence.
In the washroom, Yan Qinghe looked in the mirror, took off her coat, and half-unbuttoned her white shirt, letting the thin, cold wind blow in. The red, full lipstick mark on her collarbone was like a blazing fire in winter, the flames flickering upwards.
It shot up to her throat, her lips. She really wanted to kiss those soft, red lips. She really wanted her senior to like her more and more each day.
Preferably to the point of being hopelessly in love, like her now.
She suspected she was deep in lovesickness, with no cure. Otherwise, how could she have just parted with Mu Sixue and already be thinking of her?
She sent a text to Mu Sixue, both apprehensive and excited.
[Reporting to my girlfriend, I’m home.]
After a long while, there was no reply. Was her senior busy with work again? Should she reduce her workload and take on more herself? After all, her girlfriend’s health was very important.
If you’re not in good health, nothing is enjoyable.
Yan Qinghe put her phone on the table and opened her computer to work. Her thoughts drifted into the air, until the screensaver showed a blank screen—Mu Sixue still hadn’t replied!
Had she not performed well today?
It should have been good. Yan Qinghe covered her hot face. Otherwise, her senior wouldn’t have bitten her and then, at the door when she was sending her home, given her a deep lipstick mark.
It had to be said, her senior usually looked cold, but an occasional light tease would set a fire in her heart, making her longing burn even brighter.
Her phone rang. Yan Qinghe quickly opened it.
Mu Sixue: [Okay.]
It was just short of replying “Received,” to indicate that she knew she was home.
Yan Qinghe frowned. What a calm reply, so heartless.
She struck while the iron was hot: [What is Sixue doing?]
Mu Sixue: [Guess?] followed by a very serious, top-student tone, [If you answer correctly, you’ll get a performance score.]
Yan Qinghe’s eyes curved: [Working overtime.]
Mu Sixue: [Half right.]
Yan Qinghe: [?] She was a little troubled. Then what was she doing?
She changed the subject—she wanted to ask Mu Sixue if she missed her, but they had just gotten together, and she was afraid of being too enthusiastic and scaring her away.
Her love guru, Zhang Siyu, who was good at talking on paper, had told her that lovers should maintain a certain sense of mystery and a just-right distance, so as not to make the other feel tired or overwhelmed.
It was really hard to do. She now wished she could become the silver ring on Mu Sixue’s hand, the earring on her ear.
She was a little fed up with herself. She had typed [Does my girlfriend miss me when she’s working overtime?], deleted it, and in the end, had canceled sending it.
Anyway, someone as cool as Mu Sixue would never say that she missed her.
Even the confession, she had been the one to express her liking.
She hadn’t even heard Mu Sixue say that she liked her, not once. Perhaps Mu Sixue had agreed to be with her to see if she could accept an alpha?
Or perhaps it was because she was her superior, and she was too embarrassed to refuse her “workplace harassment.”
Or maybe it was out of the friendship of a senior to a junior, and she was just testing the waters of a relationship with her, a junior?
The more Yan Qinghe thought, the more her thoughts went in a strange direction. She hung her head, a little dejected, and thought, would Mu Sixue be like her, so full of longing that she couldn’t sleep, and couldn’t concentrate on anything?
When she asked her what she was doing, she was actually expressing that she missed her.
Why had Mu Sixue said that guessing she was working overtime was only half right? If she wasn’t working overtime, what was she doing?
Her question was answered half a moment later, with Mu Sixue’s answer to the other half—
[I was working at home when I suddenly thought of you.]
[Half working, half thinking of you.]
