Chapter 73: Happy Holidays
Lin Shuang, in her two lifetimes, had never been treated with such intimacy.
She admitted that ever since she had developed feelings for Jiang Huaizhen, she had fantasized about their intimate moments more than once. But fantasy was just fantasy; the feeling in her imagination was never as intense as reality.
The moment Jiang Huaizhen’s lips met hers, she felt all the blood in her body rush upward. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and she clung tightly to the other’s shoulders. Closing her eyes, she passively accepted the other’s movements.
She had long forgotten that she had just been angry, that she had just been crying.
All she knew was that Jiang Huaizhen actually liked her, that she was the only one in her heart, and that her tears had been shed for her.
There was no one else.
A feeling of having lost and regained swept through her, making her especially reliant on Jiang Huaizhen at this moment, and particularly greedy for even the slightest bit of intimate interaction she was giving her.
But Jiang Huaizhen gave a lot. She kissed her completely, and they were pressed together with extreme intimacy, invading each other’s private territory.
But the two of them, who were almost blank in terms of emotions, didn’t know much. Especially Jiang Huaizhen, who had grown up in the valley since she was a child and had spent most of her time with Old Madam Jiang. She had no friends and rarely had contact with outsiders. No one had enlightened her in this area.
Lin Shuang was older in her heart and had been in a big dye vat like the Qin family, so she knew a little more. But it was all hearsay. This was the first time she had actually done it.
The two of them, in their muddled state, just relied on instinct, exploring each other’s lips, not knowing that they had to go a step further.
But just the rubbing of their lips was enough to shock them.
Jiang Huaizhen wrapped her arms around her waist, pulled her closer, tilted her head, and sucked on her upper lip, then her lower lip.
She repeated this, tirelessly.
It wasn’t until Lin Shuang’s lips were numb from her kissing and she protested that she let go.
Their foreheads were pressed together, and they were panting heavily.
Lin Shuang couldn’t bear to let her go and still held her arms.
Seeing this, Jiang Huaizhen pulled her over and held her in her arms.
She calmed her breathing.
Although they were still pressed together intimately, they were too shy to look each other in the eye.
After a long time, Lin Shuang finally spoke. “Grandma was right about something…”
“What?” Jiang Huaizhen asked, her voice a little hoarse.
“That you’re a saw-mouthed gourd.”
Jiang Huaizhen chuckled, and the hand on her shoulder tightened, but she didn’t defend herself. She just tilted her head and gently rubbed her cheek against her hair.
Lin Shuang liked the intimacy between the two of them at this moment. She looked up and asked, “Are you still going to the clinic to pick me up tomorrow?”
“I am. No matter how long you’re there, I’ll go every day.”
Lin Shuang’s heart was as sweet as honey. She leaned in her arms, reluctant to leave, and rubbed her head against her neck. “How did Grandma know you had a… a sweetheart?”
Thinking of what Old Madam Jiang had said in the evening, that Jiang Huaizhen had a sweetheart, Lin Shuang’s breath hitched at the memory, and she felt extremely sad.
Hearing her question, Jiang Huaizhen paused for a long time and finally said, “You haven’t been back for a few days… I was restless, and she saw it. But I didn’t tell her that person was you…”
“You get restless too?” Lin Shuang bit her lip and pressed against her neck.
“I do.”
Lin Shuang wished she could say more. She loved to hear these sweet words, but this person was so taciturn. She guessed it was because she was shy, and also because of her personality, so she had to not force her.
“If you go to the clinic tomorrow… don’t go so early.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Because I want you to sleep a little longer. You haven’t had a good night’s sleep these few days. It’s not comfortable to just sit there with nothing to do. Although I want to see you, I don’t want you to be uncomfortable… You can just come and pick me up.”
Jiang Huaizhen hummed in agreement. “Then I’ll go in the afternoon. I’ll help Grandma with some housework in the morning, okay?”
“Alright,” Lin Shuang felt that this arrangement was perfect. “Let’s buy another horse.”
“No need,” Jiang Huaizhen shook her head. “I’m not going anywhere. My body is almost healed. I can exercise. I’ll walk over slowly, or I can take a donkey cart. We can go home together at night.”
Lin Shuang thought for a moment and felt that it was also fine. She wanted to ride the same horse with Jiang Huaizhen. If there was a need in the future, they could talk about it then.
They chatted intermittently for a while. Seeing that it was getting late, the two of them blew out the lamp and lay down. Lin Shuang hugged the woman beside her, her cheek against her shoulder, her heart still pounding with excitement. When she heard Jiang Huaizhen say “go to sleep,” she squeezed her arm and said, “I don’t want to sleep yet.”
Jiang Huaizhen, while fanning her, asked, “If you don’t want to sleep, what do you want to do?”
“I don’t know. I just don’t want to sleep.” She still wanted to do that shy thing with her just now.
But she had sucked on her for too long just now, and her lips were a little sore.
But even if it hurt, it couldn’t stop her from longing for that rippling feeling.
A first taste of love, and she was hooked.
It was just a kiss, and it was already so addictive.
Fortunately, Jiang Huaizhen understood her. She put down the cattail fan, moved closer, and gently held her lips again.
They repeated this several times until late at night, when they finally let go of each other and fell asleep in each other’s arms.
When she woke up the next day, she remembered that they had confessed their feelings to each other last night, and for some reason, she was so shy.
It wasn’t until Ping’er ran over from next door, poked her head in, and asked, “Auntie, are you up?”
Children slept early and woke up early, and they were full of energy, unlike these adults who stayed up late.
Jiang Huaizhen, who had been hugging her from behind, withdrew her hand and lay flat on the bed.
Lin Shuang sat up, her two ears burning. “I’m up. Why are you up so early?”
“I just woke up.”
Seeing that she was up, Ping’er ran into the room.
Lin Shuang wrapped herself in her plain white inner clothes, got out of bed, found some clothes to change into, and led her out to wash up.
Only then did Jiang Huaizhen slowly sit up.
It was common for young people to be greedy for sleep. After the old woman had recovered from her illness, she was the one who got up in the morning to make breakfast. In the winter, it was mostly noodles, and in the summer, it was usually porridge, a large pot that could last for a day.
These few days, Lin Shuang had been going out early, and sometimes, when the old woman cooked late, she wouldn’t eat.
But today, she wanted to spend a little more time with Jiang Huaizhen, so she didn’t go out in a hurry and helped to stir-fry some pickled vegetables to go with the porridge.
When the four of them were sitting together, drinking porridge, the old woman kept looking at her, probably wanting to know from her what had happened yesterday when she had asked her to find out about Jiang Huaizhen’s sweetheart.
While Jiang Huaizhen was getting up to get a second bowl of porridge, Lin Shuang said to the old woman, “I didn’t ask.”
When she said it, she was a little guilty, but not much.
Old Madam Jiang grumbled, “Is this girl hiding it so deeply?”
After breakfast, Lin Shuang had to leave.
She looked at Jiang Huaizhen with reluctance, then lifted her leg and walked toward the stable.
Old Madam Jiang turned to go to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Jiang Huaizhen’s hand had just scabbed over, so she could do this little chore.
Jiang Huaizhen looked up at Lin Shuang’s retreating figure, sent Ping’er away, and followed.
Just as Lin Shuang had let Jing Lei out, she saw Jiang Huaizhen walk over.
She was no longer using a cane. She was wearing a set of beige thin clothes, her figure tall and slender, her face pretty, making it hard to look away.
“Why are you here?”
Jiang Huaizhen said, “I came to see you off.”
A sweet feeling welled up in Lin Shuang’s heart, and she said awkwardly, “I’m not going anywhere. Why do you have to see me off…”
Jiang Huaizhen bit her lip and turned to look at the back door of the house. Neither Ping’er nor the old woman had come out. Lin Shuang looked at her in that direction and didn’t know if she was thinking the same thing as her. A wave of heat rushed to her face, and her lips moved. “I’m leaving.”
But her feet were reluctant to move half a step.
Seeing that Jiang Huaizhen didn’t say anything, she had no choice but to lead the horse and prepare to leave.
Unexpectedly, when she walked past Jiang Huaizhen, she was grabbed by her empty left wrist.
Before she could speak, her shoulder was wrapped by the other.
A warm breath drew near.
And rosy lips also came down.
Lin Shuang’s heart pounded. She wrapped her arms around her waist and closed her eyes.
Their lips met, and it was as if they were magnets, tightly drawn together.
Their breathing became rapid and heavy.
But it was only for a moment. The sound of pattering came from a distance, and a small figure ran toward the stable.
Lin Shuang had to open her eyes.
Jiang Huaizhen let go of her lips.
A long silver thread was pulled apart, and it fell into Lin Shuang’s eyes, making her heart beat faster.
She quickly raised her hand to wipe her mouth, as if to cover it up, and cleared her throat. “I’m leaving.”
Jiang Huaizhen’s gaze still lingered on her lips. She hummed in agreement. “I’ll pick you up in the afternoon.”
“Alright.”
With that, Lin Shuang quickly got on the horse and said to Ping’er, who was running toward them, “Ping’er, Auntie is leaving. I’ll buy you something delicious when I come back at night.”
Ping’er jumped up happily and shouted, “Auntie, I want to eat milk candy, delicious milk candy and taro cakes.”
Lin Shuang smiled. “Alright. I’ll definitely satisfy our little Ping’er.”
With that, her gaze swept over Jiang Huaizhen, who was next to her, and she rode her horse toward the road in front.
Awe, they are just great together!
