Chapter 011: Medicine King Valley
A sudden weight settled on her chest and abdomen. Jiang Bai opened her eyes, staring distantly at the audacious little thing that dared to sleep on her body.
“Do you have a tough life?” Jiang Bai asked coldly.
Ji Zhu feigned ignorance, burying her face in the enchantress’s waist. Her self-deceiving little act almost made Jiang Bai laugh in anger.
Jiang Bai reached out, intending to pick Ji Zhu up, but to her surprise, Ji Zhu hooked her claws into her clothes, refusing to get up even if it meant death.
Jiang Bai: “…”
This time, Ji Zhu had completely thrown caution to the wind. She refused to get off Jiang Bai’s body no matter what. In her heart, she even thought, Worst case, I’ll just die. If I don’t die, who knows if I’ll return to my original world?
Speaking of which, she didn’t even know why she had transmigrated to this world. And she didn’t have any system forcing her to do missions. It was really strange.
Jiang Bai released her hand, her eyes open as she stared at the canopy above. A few butterflies were scattered across the light canopy. A gentle evening breeze blew in from the open window, causing the canopy to sway gently, and the butterflies on it seemed to spread their wings and fly.
A small ball of fire was curled up on her chest and abdomen. It had some weight, but not enough to make it difficult for her to breathe. She sighed faintly in her heart.
It seemed that since bringing this little thing back, many of her habits had been broken.
Perhaps bringing it back in the first place had already broken her usual attitude of minding her own business.
Ji Zhu, who had been anxiously lying on Jiang Bai’s body, slowly began to feel that something was wrong. It had been so long, yet the enchantress hadn’t made a move?
She lifted her head in confusion, only to see that the enchantress had closed her eyes at some point. Her breathing was light and rhythmic, and she showed no intention of throwing her off the bed.
“!”
Ji Zhu’s eyes widened in shock, unable to believe that the enchantress’s temper was so good now! She wasn’t even angry when she pushed her luck like this!
Jiang Bai reached up and rubbed her head, her voice faint. “Not sleepy?”
Ji Zhu quickly lay back down. The surface beneath her was warm and soft, with a faint scent of peach blossoms. It had to be said that sleeping on the enchantress was much more comfortable than sleeping on the hard bed. Smelling Jiang Bai’s natural scent, Ji Zhu gradually fell into a deep sleep.
In her dream, Ji Zhu felt as if she were enveloped by gentle waves, floating up and down on the sea. It felt like being back in her childhood, being lulled to sleep in a rocking chair, a warm and peaceful feeling she began to crave.
When the sky was bright, the awakened Ji Zhu seemed not to have fully recovered from the soothing feeling of her dream. She stared blankly, taking a while to come to her senses. The first thing she noticed was that the feeling beneath her was wrong.
Looking down, she was no longer sleeping on the enchantress. At some point, the enchantress had folded the quilt to make it soft, and she was sleeping on it.
As for the enchantress, she was not in the room, and she didn’t know where she had gone.
Ji Zhu blinked in confusion. Was I sleeping that soundly? I didn’t even notice the enchantress making such a big move!
She got up and stretched her muscles. Her breakfast was already prepared on the table. As Ji Zhu drank her goat’s milk, her eyes kept darting towards the door, wondering what the enchantress was doing and when she would be back.
However, even after she had finished her breakfast, she still hadn’t seen Jiang Bai return. She became restless and walked out, wanting to see if she was at Qiong Yin’s place.
Just as she left the room, the door to the room opposite Jiang Bai’s opened, and Su Xin walked out with a serious expression. She then looked down and met Ji Zhu’s gaze on the floor.
To be honest, Ji Zhu was quite intimidated by Su Xin. Or rather, she was intimidated by anyone who looked very serious.
Su Xin looked past her into Jiang Bai’s room and frowned. “The Young Sect Master is not here. You shouldn’t run around either.”
Ji Zhu sat down, her obedient and honest appearance like that of a student being reprimanded, a far cry from the way she bared her teeth and claws in front of Jiang Bai.
Su Xin was about to leave after speaking, but seeing her sit down and listen to the lecture, she thought for a moment and added, “In the future, rushing forward like yesterday is not advisable. You need to be clear about your own strength. If the Young Sect Master hadn’t been there yesterday, would you still be alive after such a reckless act?”
In Su Xin’s view, yesterday’s Ji Zhu truly didn’t know her own limits. Although it was undeniable that she had rushed forward with the intention of defending them, she had also put herself in a dangerous situation.
Hearing this, Ji Zhu’s head drooped, her face full of dejection, because she knew very well that what Su Xin said was the truth. If the enchantress hadn’t intervened yesterday, how could she still be standing here in one piece after that man’s kick?
Seeing Ji Zhu’s obviously low spirits, Su Xin opened her mouth, but in the end, she couldn’t bear to continue. Just before she left, she paused.
“But thank you for being willing to stand up for us.”
Su Xin didn’t think it was strange to say so much to her. In her opinion, this little thing in front of her had very likely already developed spiritual intelligence and could understand what she was saying.
After she left, Ji Zhu walked to Qiong Yin’s room with her head hung low. To her surprise, Qiong Yin wasn’t in her room either. This time, Ji Zhu was truly bewildered.
She stood blankly in the corridor, somewhat at a loss as to where to go. Fortunately, after a short while, someone from the Hehuan Sect came up the stairs. It seemed her name was You Fu? Seeing Ji Zhu, she quickly walked over and squatted in front of her.
“Little Cat, are you hungry?” she said, stroking Ji Zhu’s head.
Ji Zhu shook her head, looking around and then at her with pleading eyes.
You Fu had a sudden realization. “Are you looking for the Young Sect Master?”
Ji Zhu nodded repeatedly, looking at her with approval. This person has a future!
You Fu pursed her lips and smiled. “It just so happens that people from the Medicine King Valley are also here today. Senior Sister has some things she wants to ask them, and the Young Sect Master was worried, so she went with them. They are talking downstairs right now. It might not be convenient to find her.”
Medicine King Valley!
Ji Zhu’s eyes widened slightly. What’s going on? People from the Medicine King Valley are here too? Are they participating in the Centennial Grand Competition? Don’t they usually dislike participating in these things? And as far as I know, the Medicine King Valley wasn’t supposed to be in this competition.
The Medicine King Valley was a special existence in the Nine Provinces Continent. The disciples in the sect were extremely talented in medical arts and alchemy. Unfortunately, the entire Medicine King Valley had less than ten people in total. Compared to other sects with hundreds or even thousands of disciples, they seemed somewhat insignificant.
However, even so, no one dared to look down on them. In fact, they were highly respected. After all, everyone would get injured one day, right? What if they needed to ask for their help someday? Most people were in a state of not offending them if they could help it.
Ji Zhu pondered. Others might not know, but she was very clear that the male lead, Xiao Ge, also had the identity of an alchemist, and his talent was not low. Later, he obtained the inheritance of that great alchemy master in the Extreme Cold Mystic Realm and learned many lost pill formulas. Over time, his relationship with the Medicine King Valley also became quite good.
Ji Zhu rubbed against You Fu’s hand as a thank you. Since she knew Jiang Bai was there, she decided to go find her herself.
What’s so inconvenient about finding her? I’m just a “spirit pet”!
She trotted down the stairs. Perhaps because it wasn’t lunchtime yet, the first-floor hall was rather quiet. Ji Zhu saw Jiang Bai at a glance.
There were a total of six people at that table. Their graceful and ethereal appearance made it clear that they were not ordinary people. Besides Jiang Bai and the others, there were two women and one man, dressed in white long robes, all looking somewhat frail.
Ji Zhu jumped directly onto Jiang Bai’s lap, greeted Qiong Yin, gave Su Xin a “shy smile,” and then curiously sized up the three people opposite them.
Jiang Bai rubbed her head. “Finished your breakfast?”
Ji Zhu nodded haphazardly, her gaze sweeping back and forth between the two women, trying to figure out who was Xia Ye.
Xia Ye was another of the male lead Xiao Ge’s female confidantes…
The conversation was suddenly interrupted, and everyone’s attention was focused on Ji Zhu. The people from the Medicine King Valley watched as this ordinary little cat with no spiritual energy dared to jump so brazenly onto Jiang Bai’s lap. And Jiang Bai wasn’t even angry, even asking if she had finished her breakfast. One of the women looked as if she had seen a ghost.
Since when was Jiang Bai so gentle?!
As someone who had once been at odds with Jiang Bai, what she had seen most was Jiang Bai with a cold face, beating any creature that tried to get close to her half to death!
“Meow~” Staring at the woman with the strange expression, Ji Zhu had a strong premonition that she was Xia Ye!
Jiang Bai’s face darkened, and she pressed Ji Zhu’s little head down.
Ji Zhu: “…?”
What do you mean by that?
Can’t help it miss.. If I were a cat and surrounded by pretty girls, I would admire their beauty too 🤭
