109 What a Coincidence
Tonight, there was someone on the rooftop.
“You didn’t say that back then! You said, you clearly said, we could go on…”
An unfamiliar boy was crying his heart out into the phone. That sense of grief effectively deterred Wang Heng, making him dare not take a step closer to the boy.
So Wang Heng went to the corner on the other side of the rooftop, lifted the hamster cage, and got down to business.
He asked in a low voice, “Can I practice martial arts?”
The little thing squatted in the running wheel, but didn’t run, just sat there quietly.
Hearing this, it raised its head and looked over. “Of course you can. If you want to practice, go practice. Why ask me?”
Wang Heng said seriously, “Because I want to know, as a reborn person, as a spacetime beacon, do I have any different treatment? Like a golden finger that lets me learn instantly or something?”
The hamster sneered. “Being seven years ahead of others in knowledge, isn’t that a golden finger? How much do you want to cheat, you bastard?”
Wang Heng: “It’s not really cheating, I just wanted to ask. Because I haven’t learned martial arts before, I don’t know if I have any talent in this area…”
The hamster extended its right front paw and held up two little fingers. “First, I’ve already said that to some extent, I have the ability to predict the future, but it’s ineffective on you alone, so I don’t know if you have talent for martial arts. Second, even if you don’t have talent for combat, learning a little bit will at least make you safer when defending yourself. Considering that you might encounter various accidents in the future, it should be very necessary.”
Wang Heng said thoughtfully, “So, you suggest I learn martial arts?”
The hamster said leisurely, “At least when facing Ye Xun, you won’t have to be afraid of being pinned down and unable to resist, right?”
This sentence instantly strengthened Wang Heng’s determination.
But just then, a somewhat hoarse voice sounded behind him: “Brother, are you heartbroken too?”
Wang Heng quickly turned around and saw the boy who had been crying his heart out on the phone just now. He had put away his phone and come up to him.
“Why would I be heartbroken?”
The boy looked at his face and sighed. “No need to pretend to be calm, I understand you. If you weren’t heartbroken by that kind of cold woman, who would talk to a pet?”
Wang Heng: “No, you’re mistaken. I actually wish those women were colder…”
The boy patted his shoulder. “No need to hold it in, no need to hide. I’m just like you, I just want to find someone to talk to now. How about I buy some beer and we sit here and drink?”
Wang Heng could see that this guy just wanted to find someone to drink with and complain to. Wang Heng really had no interest in accompanying him for this.
“Sorry, I have things to do. Bye!”
Leaving this sentence behind, Wang Heng picked up the cage and ran.
**
Tonight’s singing job was successfully completed by Pei Ningle as usual.
But amidst the cheers of the whole venue, the girl noticed a familiar female face flash past in the crowd. She smiled and waited for the audience to finish cheering, then walked over there.
Sure enough, it was Han Yixuan, sitting at a scattered table in the bar, not knowing how long she had been watching the performance.
Pei Ningle sat down opposite Han Yixuan, let out a long breath, and said softly, “I’m exhausted… Little Xuan, why are you here?”
Han Yixuan smiled. “Didn’t I say before that I was very curious about Little Le’s work? I watched for a while just now. Really, Little Le, you are so suited for the stage.”
“Thanks for the compliment,” Pei Ningle looked at the nearly empty glass in front of the other party. “Let me buy you a drink?”
Han Yixuan shook her head. “Thank you, but really no need. One glass is enough for me.”
In fact, if it weren’t for the need to scout the enemy, Han Yixuan wouldn’t have wanted to order even this one glass. Since childhood, she had no habit of drinking at all, and she didn’t like the feeling alcohol brought. Moreover, the consumption in the bar seemed a bit high to her… It was just that since this was the love rival’s home ground, she naturally had to appear at ease.
“Then I’ll order one for myself.”
With that, Pei Ningle went to the counter and brought back a glass of iced Coke.
Looking at the dark, bubbly iced drink, Han Yixuan swallowed. “You can drink Coke?”
Pei Ningle: “Why can’t I drink Coke in a bar? Do you really not want one?”
Han Yixuan: “I’ll order one myself. No need to treat me.”
Soon, a glass of iced Coke was placed in front of each of the two girls, and the confrontation officially began.
Han Yixuan first threw out the question that went straight to the core: “Little Le, I just heard some people discussing something about a brother, a big brother-in-law… What does that mean?”
Pei Ningle looked around.
It had been a few minutes since the performance ended, and the lively atmosphere in the bar had cooled down a bit. And there didn’t seem to be as many customers around as before. But if she spoke too loudly, she might still be heard, right?
So Pei Ningle lowered her voice and said, “It’s my brother, but we’re not related by blood.”
“So it’s a godbrother!” Han Yixuan asked with interest, “What kind of boy is he?”
“His… name is Wang Heng.” When she finally said this name, Pei Ningle’s gaze flickered a little.
And Han Yixuan’s expression finally changed, revealing just the right amount of surprise. “Really? I have a high school classmate, a boy I have a decent relationship with, his name is also Wang Heng!”
Looking at the girl of the same age in front of her, Pei Ningle suddenly felt a trace of guilt.
But immediately after, she gritted her teeth, threw the guilt to the back of her mind, and asked, “What does your high school classmate look like? Can I see?”
Han Yixuan sneered inwardly, having already guessed the other party’s thoughts. She still didn’t reveal any flaws, just opened her phone album, found a group photo with her classmates, and showed the screen to Pei Ningle.
“That’s him.”
Pei Ningle looked surprised. “This is my brother!”
“Oh my god, what a coincidence!”
Han Yixuan played along with the performance, but secretly complained—this Little Le’s acting skills don’t seem to be up to par. That exaggerated expression is really a bit fake.
After lamenting the coincidence, Pei Ningle said the speech she had prepared long ago: “I came to Rongdu to find him, and I found him. My brother is studying at the school across the street, you know that, right?”
Han Yixuan smiled and nodded. “Yes, I know… But I really didn’t expect your brother to be him. What a coincidence!”
The map was unrolled, the dagger revealed. So next, who would hold the dagger in their hand?
Han Yixuan took a deep breath in anticipation.
