063 The Straightforward Fengjia Miaomiao
This Monday, the freshmen finally began their classes.
Two English classes in the morning, two advanced math classes in the afternoon, each 45 minutes long with a ten-minute break in between. The rest of the time was free. Such a class schedule was, of course, a breath of fresh air compared to the third year of high school.
And the difficulty of the first day’s classes was not high. In the first period, both teachers talked about the course schedule and discipline, such as the final exam score accounting for 60% of the final grade, while the usual performance score accounted for 40%, and occasional random roll calls… and so on. In the second period, the English teacher taught very simple grammar, and the advanced math teacher taught even more basic concepts, such as derivatives, which were all knowledge learned thoroughly in high school.
After class, Fu Hanwen stretched and said with a smile, “Is this the difficulty of university? It doesn’t seem like a big deal.”
Tang Hexing put away his phone. “I was browsing Weibo and listening to the lecture at the same time, and I followed along very easily.”
As for Wang Ke, he noticed that Wang Heng had already written three or four pages of notes in his notebook and couldn’t help but ask, “Teacher Wang, were you taking notes just now?”
Wang Heng shook his head slightly. “I was self-studying the content for later.”
He had already forgotten most of the content of advanced mathematics. Now that he had to pick it up from the beginning, he naturally had to put in more effort. But after all, it was something he had learned before, so it wouldn’t be too difficult to self-study.
Fu Hanwen patted his shoulder. “As expected of Teacher Wang. You don’t even need to listen to other teachers’ lectures.”
Wang Heng smiled and didn’t speak.
University and high school were completely different. Thinking the first class was too simple and then not listening in the second class, and then not being able to understand anything from the third class onwards—this was a painful experience that many people had had. And compared to those truly difficult courses, advanced math was already relatively simple. When they started to learn those truly tricky professional courses, they would understand what despair was.
Wang Heng casually reminded them, “If you guys think the teacher’s lecture is too simple, you can also self-study.”
“Forget it. Let’s go to dinner first. We still have to party up after dinner…”
With that, Fu Hanwen picked up his books, stood up, and was about to leave when he saw Sun Xingsi coming towards them.
“The class meeting is at eight,” Sun Xingsi rubbed his hands. “Have you all thought it through?”
Fu Hanwen smiled. “Don’t worry, the vote is definitely yours.”
Sun Xingsi came up to Wang Heng and said in a low voice, “You should believe me now. I can really organize mixers for everyone. You went to the one the day before yesterday. It was pretty good, right?”
Wang Heng was speechless.
Very good. You originally had one vote. It has now disappeared.
But Sun Xingsi didn’t notice Wang Heng’s meaningful gaze and turned to talk to other students. Having confidently secured all the votes from dorm 414, it was of course time to move on to other students.

After dinner, Fu Hanwen, Tang Hexing, and Wang Ke returned to the dorm first. There was still more than an hour before the class meeting. They could of course play a few games first, and Wang Ke could also watch two or three more episodes of his cute loli anime.
Wang Heng, on the other hand, had downloaded a Python e-book and put it on his phone, so there was no need to climb another flight of stairs. He just sat downstairs in the dormitory building and started reading the e-book on his phone.
After a long while, he heard a girl’s voice, “Teacher Wang, are you on patrol here?”
Wang Heng looked up and saw one of the only five girls in his class, and probably the prettiest of the five. She had short hair similar to Lu Qi’s, a delicate appearance, and a smile on her face that seemed to have its own sunshine, giving her a bit of a tomboy feel.
But what was most impressive was this girl’s name—Fengjia Miaomiao, the person with the longest name in the whole class.
In his memory, before Sun Xingsi had dragged everyone to the mixer, the one who had attracted Tang Hexing’s affection was this Fengjia Miaomiao.
Wang Heng smiled. “Student Feng, hello.”
The girl’s originally smiling face suddenly stiffened. “My name is Miaomiao. My surname is Fengjia.”
Wang Heng was also stunned. “…So, Fengjia is a surname?”
Fengjia Miaomiao: “Yes, just like Ouyang, Gongsun, and Ximen, it’s a surname.”
Wang Heng: “I really didn’t know. I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
The girl waved her hand nonchalantly. “Forget it. This surname is indeed too rare. It’s normal that you don’t know. I just wanted to ask, for the class meeting later, who are you planning to vote for?”
So direct?
Almost in their first conversation, she had brought up such a topic so directly… Wang Heng didn’t know if he should complain about her being too forward with a stranger.
Seeing his hesitation, Fengjia Miaomiao thought he hadn’t decided who to vote for and said again, “Actually, we girls weren’t planning to participate at all. There are too many boys in this class, and it’s a bit awkward for us girls. But honestly, the way Sun Xingsi is going around soliciting votes really annoys us, so we unanimously decided to cause some trouble. Anyway, Sun Xingsi isn’t here. You can tell me the truth. Did you promise to vote for him?”
Wang Heng: “He did ask me for my vote, but I’m not planning to vote for him.”
Fengjia Miaomiao couldn’t help but be a little curious. “Why? I heard that he even organized a mixer the day before yesterday to gain popularity. Didn’t you go with them?”
Wang Heng sighed. “I went. I was dragged there by my roommates. I’m not interested in mixers, and I’m not interested in girls, so Sun Xingsi going around soliciting votes… anyway, he won’t get mine.”
Fengjia Miaomiao’s eyes lit up. “As expected of Teacher Wang. You’re really different from those immature little boys!”
The corner of Wang Heng’s mouth twitched. “Are all the other boys in our class immature little boys…”
Fengjia Miaomiao rubbed the back of her head. “Sorry, I’m a bit direct. Actually, once you get to know me, you’ll find that my roommates and others also say I have low EQ.”
As her voice fell, Wang Heng finally heard a trace of the popular accent from the Spring Festival Gala skits in her accent.
So he asked, “Are you from the Northeast?”
Fengjia Miaomiao nodded. “Yeah! How could you tell?”
“Don’t worry about the details. Anyway, I’ll vote for you then. How about it?”
Wang Heng said not to worry, and Fengjia Miaomiao really didn’t. She gave a thumbs-up. “Alright, straightforward!”
After the communication was over, the girl turned and left. Although her walk couldn’t be described as majestic, there was indeed no girlish grace in her steps.
Wang Heng looked at her back, his eyes full of admiration.
A girl like this was so much better than Han Yixuan, Lu Qi, and the others. At least in terms of safety, she was a whole level higher!
“Why can’t all girls be like her?” Wang Heng couldn’t help but mutter to himself. “All under heaven are bros, everyone is a buddy. How great would that be!”
