Her small hand started sliding downward, but someone was already lying in wait down there.

“Jiuyou, if you don’t want to sleep, go outside. Don’t disturb our rest.”
“Our”? Jiu Youyue blinked in surprise, keenly sensing the shift in her senior sister’s mood.
What had they talked about while she was out? She should have eavesdropped.
“Senior Sister, let go. I was just playing around with Little Zhen Zhen.”
“Go to sleep. No more playing.”
Yun Xiu released the demoness’s little hand, but kept her own tucked inside Yan Zhen’s clothes. She slowly closed her eyes.

Yan Zhen felt a pang of guilt and shook his head.
“I’m sorry, Master. That was my fault. I forgot to pay my respects.”
Chen Xi sighed inwardly. Her greatest fear had come to pass.
Ever since meeting Yun Xiu, her precious disciple had been utterly captivated, even forgetting his own master.
It wasn’t jealousy—she was simply worried he would get hurt by this new romance.
