After dealing with Akai Jun, Tsukiyomi Ruri took Leona back home. The weakened Leona was in no condition to go out scaring people anymore.
Tsukiyomi Ruri looked at Leona and said, “Your condition requires proper rest to slowly recover. That will take some time, so it’s best you don’t go out again during this period.”
Leona nodded her head slightly.
Today’s encounter with Akai Jun had nearly been her undoing and left her with a certain trauma about going out alone. She wouldn’t dare to, even if they let her, until she was fully recovered.
“By the way, Ruri, we still don’t know much about that Akai Jun’s situation. Why didn’t you interrogate him first before killing him?” Leona asked curiously.
“No, all the circumstances were already obvious. There was no need to ask further,” Tsukiyomi Ruri replied.
“All the issues were obvious?” Leona said with some surprise. “But we don’t even know what relationship Akai Jun had with Chiba Rumi.”
“Did you forget? Akai Jun said he’ll ‘never see Chiba-san on TV again.’ What does that imply?” Tsukiyomi Ruri said slowly. “It means he didn’t have a relationship where he could meet her whenever he wanted. The most likely possibility is that he was simply a fan of Chiba Rumi.”
A fan avenging their idol might sound surprising, but it wasn’t strange when it came to Reincarnators.
Because Reincarnators as a group inherently possess a specific trait: they wield powers far surpassing ordinary humans. This power inflates their ego, makes them dismissive of life, and causes them to look down on others with a condescending gaze.
So, as a Reincarnator, Akai Jun naturally placed himself in a higher position, seeing himself as a judge, righteously passing judgment on others.
Even if his judgment was wrong, even if the people he killed were innocent, as long as he felt it was right, he would act.
Such people are not likable.
Tsukiyomi Ruri briefly explained the situation to Leona, and Leona began to understand.
“From the looks of it, this was a fanatical fan of Chiba Rumi. There wouldn’t happen to be more fans like this, would there?” Leona sighed.
“Actually, most celebrities and artists probably wouldn’t want fans that are overly fanatical. It’s a troublesome thing too,” Tsukiyomi Ruri mused, guessing.
…
The following days were peaceful for two days.
During this time, Tsukiyomi Ruri went to school as usual, while Leona stayed at home, never leaving the house.
While at school, Tsukiyomi Ruri kept in touch with Izumi Shirayuki. But with Shirayuki continually absent from school, the Urban Legend Club was starting to feel somewhat abandoned.
One day, while in the clubroom, Mizuhashi Yuzuki sent a message to Izumi Shirayuki: “Senpai, you still can’t come? Should we come to your house to help?”
Izumi Shirayuki quickly replied: “No, no, I can handle it myself. Don’t come over.”
Mizuhashi Yuzuki sent a puzzled emoji: “Then hurry up and come back. While you’re away, Senpai, our club looks like it’s falling apart.”
“In that case… why don’t you all do a club activity?” Izumi Shirayuki messaged after a moment of hesitation.
“We do one?” Mizuhashi Yuzuki looked confused.
“Although I can’t be there in person, we can communicate remotely. That still counts as a club activity, right?” Izumi Shirayuki sent over.
Seeing this, Mizuhashi Yuzuki quickly showed the message to Tsukiyomi Ruri and Inoue Keiko.
“Speaking of which, let’s first set up a chat room and invite everyone into it,” Izumi Shirayuki sent another message.
She did have a chat room on the Reincarnator Forum, but only Reincarnators were invited there. In her eyes, Tsukiyomi Ruri, being an ordinary person, naturally couldn’t enter that chat room.
So setting up another chat room now was only logical. There were plenty of relevant apps available on smartphones.
This matter was quickly settled. Izumi Shirayuki used a popular messaging app to create the chat room, had everyone download the app and register accounts, and then pulled them all into the chat room.
“Alright, since everyone is here now, we can chat here from now on. School should be almost over for you by now, right? Then let’s begin today’s club activity,” Izumi Shirayuki posted her first message in the chat room.
“May I ask, what exactly is the content of our club activity?” Tsukiyomi Ruri messaged.
“The Ghost Legend, of course. We haven’t finished investigating the results of that last ghost legend, have we? We must continue the investigation. I’m very curious about the outcome,” Izumi Shirayuki’s message came through.
“Won’t we have to deal with those yankees again? Those yankees look so scary,” Inoue Keiko said somewhat timidly.
Her words left everyone speechless. They didn’t know what to say. Why would a Reincarnator be afraid of yankees?
And Inoue Keiko, at this point, was clearly a senior Reincarnator!
Seeing Mizuhashi Yuzuki’s helpless gaze sweep over, Inoue Keiko quickly lowered her head, realizing she’d said the wrong thing.
“Don’t worry, there won’t be any problems. Just let me know when you get out of school,” Izumi Shirayuki messaged the chat room.
“School’s already out,” Tsukiyomi Ruri reminded.
“Oh? Then you can head out now. Let me tell you the yankees’ locations. I’ve investigated this,” Izumi Shirayuki seemed full of enthusiasm.
She sent a map into the chat room, marking it up with annotations. The areas circled in red were the usual haunts of different Yankee Gangs.
“So we’re going to these places now? Alright, let’s get moving, everyone,” Mizuhashi Yuzuki said, looking full of energy.
As a senior Reincarnator, Mizuhashi Yuzuki didn’t take any yankees seriously, so safety was the least of their worries.
The group walked out of the school with their backpacks and headed toward the locations Izumi Shirayuki had indicated. Before long, they arrived at the alley they had visited last time.
The plan was, naturally, to contact the same Yankee Gang led by the Ane-go from before.
They hadn’t walked long in the alley when Tsukiyomi Ruri and the others heard sounds of commotion coming from ahead.
“Hmm? You all wait here. I’ll go check it out,” Mizuhashi Yuzuki quickly stopped everyone and went alone to scout the situation.
Inoue Keiko, meanwhile, was responsible for updating Izumi Shirayuki on what was happening.
It didn’t take long for Mizuhashi Yuzuki to return: “You all better go see the situation for yourselves. I’ve found a safe spot to observe from.”
