As night gradually fell, a chilly night breeze blew in through the window.
Leona set down her smartphone, looked outside, and felt a surge of energy. She said to Tsukiyomi Ruri, “Ruri, it’s night now. I’m going out to properly increase my strength.”
Tsukiyomi Ruri nodded without looking up.
Leona floated, leisurely drifting out.
She remembered Tsukiyomi Ruri’s instructions not to scare people too close, so she would go as far as possible. Because she could float through the air and even pass through walls, her path was a straight line wherever she went. It didn’t take long before she arrived at a relatively distant place.
Floating in the air, Leona had a great view. She looked down and quickly fixed her gaze on a target.
It was a person with red hair. By the figure, it seemed to be a woman, walking cautiously in a small alley. No matter how you looked at it, her behavior was somewhat furtive.
“Hmph, sneaky and certainly no good person. I’ll start by scaring you tonight,” Leona immediately drifted toward the target.
The alley was very dark, but in the eyes of a ghost, the darkness was as clear as daylight.
Leona leisurely floated behind the target, took a deep breath, and blew a puff of air onto the back of the girl’s neck.
“Who?”
Accompanied by a startled cry, the girl spun around quickly, but in her eyes, the alley was empty.
This situation made the girl’s heart tighten. She didn’t know what was going on; after all, the breath on the back of her neck had felt very real.
‘It’s her?’
Leona was surprised to see the person in front of her. Wasn’t this girl with the red ponytail the Ane-go of that Yankee Gang? What was she doing here?
Leona found it somewhat surprising but decided to take care of her own business first.
Seeing the Ane-go turn her head back around, Leona floated over and once again blew a puff of air onto the Ane-go’s neck.
“Who? Who is it?”
The Ane-go spun around in a panic.
But naturally, the Ane-go couldn’t see anything. The alley was full of shadows, appearing completely empty.
This caused the Ane-go to involuntarily swallow hard, her body trembling uncontrollably.
She was in the middle section of the alley. If someone was playing a prank on her, she would have definitely seen them, since turning around only took an instant. No one could have run out of the alley that quickly.
Yet after she turned around, there was no one behind her.
This situation made the Ane-go’s eyes moisten, and she couldn’t help but shiver.
“Huff…”
Another puff of air blew onto the back of the Ane-go’s neck.
“Aaaaaahhhh…”
The Ane-go finally couldn’t take it anymore. With a scream, she frantically fled in one direction.
Leona floated in midair, took a deep breath, absorbed the intangible fear, and slowly enhanced her abilities in all aspects.
She watched the fleeing Ane-go, then her body floated lightly, easily following her. Eventually, she followed the Ane-go to a small river and saw her hiding under a bridge.
Originally, Leona had followed to scare the Ane-go a bit more, but seeing her trembling like that, she felt embarrassed to do anything further to her.
‘Forget it, I’ll find another target.’
Leona felt very kind-hearted and floated away into the distance.
Tsukiyomi Ruri had been scrolling through the Reincarnator Forum for a long time and couldn’t help but yawn.
She put down her smartphone, intending to take a bath. But at that moment, she looked up and saw Leona flying back in through the window.
“Ruri,” Leona waved.
“Why are you back so early today?” Tsukiyomi Ruri asked. For the past two days, Leona had stayed out all night, and who knew how many urban legends she had left in Natsuki City.
Leona lunged for the remote and turned on the TV, chuckling. “Because there’s a show I like to watch tonight. Watching a show won’t affect my cultivation much anyway.”
“You’d better watch on your phone so you don’t disturb me,” Tsukiyomi Ruri said expressionlessly.
“Don’t worry, when you go to bed, I’ll switch to my phone,” Leona said with an expression of reassurance.
The TV turned on, but the show hadn’t started yet; it was still playing commercials.
Leona had no interest in the commercials. She said to Tsukiyomi Ruri, who was still tidying up clothes, “Ruri, guess who I ran into just now? I actually met the Ane-go of that Yankee Gang. That fellow was shivering in fear because of me.”
“Ane-go?” Tsukiyomi Ruri turned to look.
If she remembered correctly, this Ane-go had never been found after running away from the Mental Hospital. Yet Leona had managed to find her?
‘The Urban Legend Club should be investigating the disappearance of the Ane-go and Gounon. The fact that they didn’t notify me to join probably means there are traces of Reincarnators in this matter. In other words, this Ane-go might be connected to Reincarnators?’
These thoughts flashed quickly through Tsukiyomi Ruri’s mind.
She had originally not wanted to get involved, feeling that Izumi Shirayuki was capable enough to handle the problem. But now that the matter was right in front of her, there seemed no need to deliberately avoid it.
With that in mind, Tsukiyomi Ruri asked, “Do you still know where this Ane-go is?”
“Yes,” Leona nodded. “She’s hiding under a bridge, seems to be living in the bridge hollow. It looked a bit pitiful.”
“Which bridge?” Tsukiyomi Ruri continued.
“Are you going, Ruri? Wait, I don’t know what it’s called, but I know the route. Let me check the map.” Leona grabbed her smartphone and opened the map.
Zooming in on Natsuki City on the map, Leona pointed to a spot. “It’s right here.”
Tsukiyomi Ruri leaned over to look and basically understood the location.
“I’ll go out for a bit,” Tsukiyomi Ruri said.
“Is there something worth caring about with that Ane-go? Oh well, it’s none of my business. Go ahead.” As Leona was speaking, the show she wanted to watch started, and her attention immediately shifted to the TV.
Tsukiyomi Ruri went to the window and looked outside. The pitch-black night was very still, with only the sound of the night breeze blowing.
She didn’t waste any time, jumped out of the window, landed lightly on the ground, and then hurried through the night toward her destination.
The distance wasn’t that far. It didn’t take long for Tsukiyomi Ruri to reach the bridge Leona had mentioned.
On the bridge, streetlights shone, and occasionally a car passed with the sound of its engine.
Under the bridge, the river flowed gently, without sound, appearing extremely tranquil.
