The car suddenly sped off into the distance, leaving Big Doggy hopelessly behind.
At first, Lu Zhixia stood there dumbfounded, convinced that Shen Wanqing hadn’t spotted her. In a panic, she fired off a voice message.
When that didn’t get a quick reply, she called directly. Shen Wanqing’s voice came through calm and even: “I have something to take care of. Come find me yourself.”
Big Doggy kicked a loose pebble by the roadside to vent her frustration. She was already out here—no point turning back now.
And so, the pitiful Puppy stood dejectedly on the curb, pondering her options before deciding to hail a ride.
While waiting for the bus, she vented to Big Sister in a stream of whiny messages, something along the lines of: “There was a time when my sister and I were just one step apart. But I lagged a little, and she zoomed away without me. If heaven granted me another chance, I’d sprint full throttle, no holding back. And if I had to quantify that speed… let me think…”
What followed was a barrage of formulas—V, S, T, and a jumble of other variables.
She was treating her chat with Shen Wanqing like scratch paper. Most infuriating of all, Shen Wanqing found the whole thing oddly entertaining. It wasn’t until she reached her doorstep and her bodyguard called out to her that she snapped back to reality.
The moment Shen Wanqing stepped inside, she booted up her computer and searched for tutorials on folding origami hearts.
This particular heart was far too distinctive; she could picture its shape perfectly, but nothing online came close.
She settled at her desk and gave it a few more tries before finally slamming it down in exasperation.
Who could have imagined that a president of her stature—accomplished in every sense, from intellect to athletics—would be defeated by a single sheet of paper?
Shen Wanqing had long known her manual skills fell short in certain areas, like cooking.
Now she had uncovered yet another weakness: anything involving origami was beyond her.
People who thrived on extreme sports simply lacked the patience for such painstaking, sedentary crafts.
Resigned to failure, she unfolded the letter and reread Lu Zhixia’s first—and to date, only—love letter.
Dearest You:
This is the first love letter of my life, and likely the last I’ll ever write.
Before setting pen to paper, I had no idea what to say.
But after agonizing over it, I realized a love letter’s true value lies in its raw honesty and unfiltered affection.
So I’ll tell you the truth about who I am.
I’m a college freshman this year. High school’s behind me, so I suppose that means I’m old enough to write one now.
Though I haven’t turned eighteen yet… that’s right, you didn’t misread. I’ve skipped several grades, landing me in university while still a minor.
Pretty smart, huh? Your beloved is a genius.
Heaven granted me brains, but it slammed plenty of doors in my face too. My temper’s not the sweetest, and I’m no angel. I pick fights—and I don’t pull punches.
No need to fret about me losing, though. I’m tall for my age. I haven’t differentiated yet, but the doctors told my family ages ago I’d become a top-tier Alpha.
Even now, my height and stamina put me leagues above the average person.
I’ve trained in martial arts too. I can keep you safe.
That said, I’m petty as hell with a possessive streak a mile wide. Get too chummy with someone else, and I’ll seethe with jealousy.
But I’m awkward about it—what’s in my head never quite matches what comes out of my mouth.
I care about you deeply, yet my way of showing it comes off all wrong. Beats me why.
Truth is, I’m proud to a fault, obsessed with my pride. I keep thinking that even if I fall for someone someday, I’d never confess first.
Face is everything to me. What if they turned me down?
I’m terrified you’d toss this letter without a second glance.
I’d be furious and heartbroken—might even lash out in petty revenge, bullying you until you cried. God, I’m awful.
To dodge that mess, I won’t confess. I won’t say I like you. No chance for rejection that way. Clever, right? Hehe.
Of course, there’s always a slim chance. If I do hand you this letter, know it means I like you beyond reason—enough to risk it all.
Even if the feeling’s not mutual, go easy on me, okay?
I have no right to ask anything of you. I’m the one laying my heart bare, pleading for your kindness and mercy…
Ugh, why does love turn me into such a beggar?
Shen Wanqing couldn’t hold back a laugh. The girl had been a born performer since childhood.
The letter went on:
Let me share my interests with you.
Languages are my thing. I’ve had a knack for them forever—one listen, and it’s memorized.
These days, I speak ten of them fluently. Impressive?
My aptitude’s only sharpening; each new language takes less time to master.
Oh, and here’s the big one—my dream is to be a top-flight translator. I’ve already started prepping for the diplomatic exams!
“I represent the nation, conveying the voice of the nation to the world.”
I love my motherland. She is growing stronger day by day, and more and more people will come to know her.
Being able to represent her is my honor.
Look at what I wrote above—I’m such a mature adult.
But actually, I have the side that a young person should have too. I like sports and thrilling adventures.
I’m really good at skateboarding, and I can do parkour too—it’s super cool. You’ll see if you get the chance.
I’ve also learned skiing and surfing, but Mom [crossed out] Mother thinks it’s too dangerous and won’t let me do it anymore.
I understand her. I’m her only child, and Dad [crossed out] Father is unreliable. She can’t count on him, so she can only count on me.
Who would have thought that at such a young age, I already shoulder the heavy burdens of life? These slender shoulders of mine will surely carry it all!
Shen Wanqing laughed out loud for the second time. What a smug little brat, putting on this grown-up act—calling them ‘Father’ and ‘Mother’ instead of ‘Dad’ and ‘Mom.’
Finally, Lu Zhixia devoted a long passage to her childhood Czech wolf dog named Patton.
She liked Patton, and she loved it. She thought Patton would be with her for life, but an accident took Patton away from her.
She cried for days, unable to eat or sleep, and after that, she never wanted to own a dog again.
She wrote: Perhaps I’m too cowardly, afraid of loss, so I simply refuse to start anything.
I don’t know if I’ll be the same way when it comes to loving you.
I know it’s wrong, but my nature makes me resist. If I truly love you, maybe I can confront my nature, defeat it, and be with you.
Oh, right—I also want to tell you about a very special friend of mine. She lives not far from my house, and she’s been so good to me, staying by my side when I was most afraid.
Her name is Hupo Chuan—what a nice name, right? She gives me a bright, sunny feeling, full of security, just like the amber I collected as a child. That was a gift from Mom. When Mom wasn’t home, I’d hold the amber while sleeping so I could fall asleep.
Promise me you won’t tell anyone, because I promised Hupo Chuan.
She’s very beautiful, much older than me. She takes care of me like a big sister and keeps me company through those tough, sleepless nights.
But I don’t like her. I don’t know why. I feel like she treats me so well, so I should like her.
But I don’t. Am I a bit rebellious?
Wow, I’ve written so much. Are you getting annoyed by now?
Please say no—I’m almost done, because I’m running out of paper.
Right now, I’m in my university dorm. The other three Alphas are all older than me and treat me really well.
Even away from home, I can take good care of myself. Without Patton, without Hupo Chuan, without the you of the future, I can still live perfectly fine.
I tell myself not to rely on anyone, including you.
So, even if I love you, if you don’t love me—if you don’t even say it out loud, but your words and actions show it—I’ll leave.
I won’t cling to you, so rest assured.
Maybe when you read this far, you’ll think this young person is long-winded and immature, but this is the real me.
I hope you like the real me, and that after you understand the true me, you’ll decide whether or not to be with me.
Don’t be fooled by my appearance. I know I’m pretty, but my looks will eventually lose their appeal one day. Please look at my soul—do you like it?
Likewise, I’ll do the same with you. I might be wildly enthusiastic about you at first, but if I get to know your soul and find it’s not what I like, I’ll tell you honestly and stop liking you.
How about that? I’m such a mature and rational person!
If I like you and you happen to like me too, I’ll be super clingy. I’ll be like a little dog, lying by your side, rolling over to show my belly for you to scratch.
The person I like, I’ll follow like a loyal doggy, protecting her, cherishing her, and being unconditionally good to her.
If I smile the moment I see you, run to you when I spot you, send you all sorts of random messages when I can’t see you, or play some clever little tricks on you… that means I really like you.
I’ll wait for you—no, I’ll come find you.
You wait for me in your world, and I’ll find you.
I’m giving you my heart. Then, with this token, you can redeem one top-tier A-level girlfriend—isn’t that super cool?
Wait for me. My little plane will carry my heart and fly right to your side.
I’ve really run out of paper now. This letter is short but my feelings are long. When we meet someday, I’ll tell you slowly, spending a lifetime saying how much I like you.
Shen Wanqing settled down and read it through once. After laughing, she felt warmth and emotion.
This young kid, so small in age, understood more than she did and had awakened earlier than she had.”
Shen Wanqing glanced back once more. What sort of person was Hupo Chuan, really?
Soft music suddenly filled the room. She pulled up the surveillance feed to see Lu Zhixia standing at the entrance, carefully selecting a car.
In the end, she picked a yellow one and came rushing over, her face beaming with excitement.
This silly girl—her cheeks were sunburned bright red.
Shen Wanqing tucked away the red paper and slipped it into a drawer.
She had someone prepare two cups of fruit tea and set them on the table nearby.
She waited quite a while before Lu Zhixia sent over a Big Eye video, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. “Big Sister, can I go take pictures of the cars now?”
Shen Wanqing eyed the fruit tea beside her and replied coolly, “Aren’t you hot after walking all this way?”
“Super hot!” Lu Zhixia stood outside, her big eyes sparkling, her voice full of pep. “I’m drenched in sweat, but just thinking about snapping photos of those gorgeous cars has me all pumped up!”
“So eager for luxury cars,” Shen Wanqing remarked, her tone even.
Lu Zhixia didn’t pick up on it at all. She kept the video call going while craning her neck toward the cars. “Big Sister, where are they parked? I totally forgot.”
“Then take your time looking.” Shen Wanqing ended the call without another word.
Lu Zhixia scratched her head and peered around before wandering off to search on her own.
Shen Wanqing sighed in exasperation and instructed someone to bottle the fruit tea and deliver it.
The estate was enormous. Lu Zhixia roamed in circles, sweat pouring down her face, but she still couldn’t find the cars.
Before long, footsteps approached from behind. A staff member in work clothes smiled and said, “I’m the butler here. President Shen sent me to guide you.” With that, they handed over the fruit tea. Lu Zhixia took it gratefully.
It was refreshingly delicious, cool sliding down her throat and instantly perking her up. She murmured, “Next time, could you add a bit more ice?”
“President Shen had this specially made for you,” they replied. “I’d advise against too much chill.”
Lu Zhixia broke into a grin. When they finally reached the luxury cars, her eyes lit up and her mouth fell open in an O of astonishment. She stood there, speechless for ages.
Under the daylight, the rows of luxury cars gleamed like something out of a fantasy realm.
Every model was a showstopper. Lu Zhixia was almost too reverent to touch them. She hovered her palm at a careful distance, stroking the air as if caressing their curves with tender affection.
Back in the room, Shen Wanqing’s gaze deepened with unspoken meaning.
All afternoon, Lu Zhixia wove among the luxury cars—snapping photos, posing for selfies, poring over their specs.
Dusk settled in, and Shen Wanqing appeared silently behind her. Lu Zhixia remained oblivious.
She was squatting by the Bugatti La Voiture Noire—the very one Shen Wanqing had driven earlier—studying it like a fortune teller reading palms.
“Want to drive it?” Shen Wanqing asked abruptly.
Lu Zhixia jumped in fright. Her legs went numb, and she toppled straight onto the ground.
She scrambled up, flustered, waving her hands. “My driving’s terrible. If I dinged it, I could never afford the repairs.”
“I’ll take you for a drive around the estate.” Shen Wanqing slid into the passenger seat. Lu Zhixia climbed in after her, hands trembling faintly.
Shen Wanqing gave her a quick rundown on the controls, then pointed ahead. “There’s a dedicated test track right there. Head straight, then turn right. The views are lovely.”
The sheer scale of the estate meant Lu Zhixia was always stumbling upon new corners she hadn’t seen.
She had already marveled at the motorcycle track earlier; this one for cars took her breath away even more.
The road led straight into a forest, lush greenery enveloping them on all sides. It felt utterly wild, untouched by human hands.
In the convertible, under that perfect weather, the drive was idyllic—the air rich with crisp freshness and the heady scent of flowers.
Iron fencing bordered the woods. Lu Zhixia even spotted squirrels scampering across the tree trunks in a scene straight out of nature’s playbook.
Rolling hills rose into view, punctuated by birdsong echoing through the trees. It was as if she had plunged into the heart of the wild.
Shen Wanqing had explained that everything here preserved the original ecology with minimal alteration—which was how such a vast estate could exist right in the city center.
Lu Zhixia let out a sigh of wonder. “I originally thought this was some fancy gated community. I had no idea you lived here all by yourself.”
“Jealous of my wealth?” Shen Wanqing teased, tugging her ear.
Lu Zhixia giggled. “Not one bit.”
Shen Wanqing called out directions as they looped around. Spotting the hot springs wellness area, Lu Zhixia eased off the gas. “You even have hot springs? Is there anything this place doesn’t have?”
Shen Wanqing told her to park. They headed inside together. Separate indoor and outdoor pools steamed invitingly, with a swimming area off to the side.
Shen Wanqing opened a cabinet and tossed Lu Zhixia a key. “Come on, let’s soak for a bit.”
Lu Zhixia hesitated, feeling bashful, but Shen Wanqing had already shrugged off her jacket, baring the pale expanse of her back.
She turned away. Once Shen Wanqing finished changing, she brushed past and gave Lu Zhixia’s backside a playful pat.
Lu Zhixia’s face flushed crimson as she yelped and hopped in place. “Hey! What was that for?”
Shen Wanqing glanced back with a soft smile. “Hurry up. We’ll play a little, then head to your place for dinner. Professor Yan just messaged.”
Lu Zhixia dawdled through her change of clothes before peeking out cautiously. To her surprise, there was no sign of anyone.
She strolled to the edge of the pool and peered around. Hearing footsteps approaching from behind, she turned just as Shen Wanqing launched herself straight at her.
Instinctively, she opened her arms. Shen Wanqing tumbled into her embrace, and the two of them plunged into the water together.
The underwater world was bright and clear. Lu Zhixia could make out Shen Wanqing’s expression—she was grinning, her mouth moving as if speaking, but only bubbles escaped.
Lu Zhixia couldn’t hold back her laughter and let out a stream of bubbles of her own.
They twisted around each other like a pair of fish. Lu Zhixia was the first to run low on air and broke the surface.
Illuminated by the crimson hues of the evening glow and the warm yellow of the lights, Lu Zhixia’s skin sparkled with shimmering droplets of water.
Shen Wanqing surfaced beside her, radiant as flawless jade, glowing in the depths of Lu Zhixia’s gaze.
Just a stroke away, Lu Zhixia swam over in a rush and pulled her into her arms. Her feet finding the pool bottom, she gasped out urgently, “Sister, I want to kiss you.”
