10. The Great Deception
Although he had never met this person, Yin Wuzong knew of Ouyang Qian’s reputation.
This person was a savior!
He quickly cupped his fists. “Thank you, Senior, for saving my life!”
“No time for pleasantries. If that woman comes back, I won’t be able to hold her off. Let’s go!”
“We’ll meet again!”
As he fled, Yin Wuzong overheard their conversation.
From his perspective:
Lü Youyuan: “How could the Pear Blossom Blood Orchid Palace help these people? Doesn’t that Gong Muzhi know what the Mingjue Sect is?”
Ouyang Qian: “So what if she does? In your eyes, aren’t demonic sects supposed to do such evil things? Did you really expect Sister Gong to help you?”
Lü Youyuan: “Stubborn fool!”
Ouyang Qian: “Noisy!”
Then, a series of clanging sounds.
However, if Yin Wuzong had turned around at that moment, he would have seen a rather peculiar scene.
—The two were just playfully clashing their weapons, their words the only thing that was truly “hostile.”
“So…” While Yin Wuzong was fleeing, Gong Yiling glanced at Yan Chuyue and whispered, “You’re not actually wearing that ridiculous outfit, are you?”
“Am I crazy!?” Yan Chuyue whispered back. “It was just an act. I’m not the main character.”
“So next time, if I ask you to act for longer…” Gong Yiling winked. “You’re not actually going to wear it, are you?”
“Pah! Don’t you dare!”
“You can’t beat me.” Gong Yiling covered her mouth and retorted.
But Yan Chuyue didn’t argue further. She pointed in the direction Yin Wuzong had fled. “If you don’t go after him, he’ll be gone.”
“Oh, right!”
Miss Gong finally reacted, quickly pulling up her white dress to reveal a black outfit underneath.
After a quick adjustment, she waved at Yan Chuyue.
“I’m off. Got to catch up.”
“Wait.” Yan Chuyue stopped her and gently removed her veil. “You’re not going to wear the same thing, are you?”
Their faces were close, their gazes meeting, almost feeling each other’s breath.
Looking at Yan Chuyue’s pretty face, Gong Yiling felt a strange emotion welling up.
But she quickly shook it off.
Now… wasn’t the time for this.
She took a black veil from her sleeve and put it on, then ruffled Yan Chuyue’s hair. “Thanks. I’m going.”
Yan Chuyue nodded. “Be careful.”
“Mmm!”
—
—
Yin Wuzong was seriously injured and didn’t even dare to stop and recuperate. So, Miss Gong arrived at the meeting point before him.
Seeing the woman in the black dress, Yin Wuzong finally relaxed.
He limped towards her, almost falling, but was “kindly” supported by Gong Yiling.
Gong Yiling frowned. “What happened? How did the plan turn out like this?”
Yin Wuzong, his pride now shattered, said fiercely, “That bitch not only knew our plan, but she also set a trap. And that Immortal Master was there too.”
“They knew your every move. There must be another traitor.”
Yin Wuzong agreed. “And their position isn’t low. Thank you, Miss Gong. If you hadn’t sent someone to save us, we would have been in deep trouble.”
“Not necessarily.” A strange glint appeared in Gong Yiling’s eyes, one that Yin Wuzong couldn’t see or understand. “And what about your Old Yin? Why wasn’t he there?”
“This matter…” Yin Wuzong said grimly, “I didn’t tell my grandfather.”
It made sense. He had just been provoked earlier and immediately launched his plan that night, probably even tricking Wen Qiyin into joining him. How could such a rash plan be approved by a truly cunning person?
“I’m sorry, Miss Gong, I…”
Gong Yiling waved her hand dismissively, looking quite carefree. “It’s fine. I understand.”
“Your position is your own, yet someone else suddenly appeared and gained your elder’s trust. You were just eager to prove yourself.”
In a sense, this was understandable, so Miss Gong’s words were only a mix of truth and lies.
But since there was some truth in it, Yin Wuzong felt like he had found a kindred spirit.
Although this was their first meeting, he felt a strange sense of familiarity.
“Miss Gong, you understand my actions. For your sincerity, I will definitely help you, for you, and for myself, to eliminate those people!”
Oh ho.
Gong Yiling raised an eyebrow. “And how do you plan to do that, Young Master Yin? Ask Old Yin for reinforcements?”
“No.” Yin Wuzong sneered, a ruthless glint in his eyes. “Those girls only know about the sleeping people in the Divine King’s Court’s central hall. They don’t know that those people are already puppets cultivated by the Divine King Gu.”
“With those puppets, we can surely annihilate them.”
“Won’t it cause a huge commotion?”
“The entire North Courtyard is filled with a Gu poison mist that dulls the senses. And the night patrol is all my men.” Yin Wuzong was quite confident. “A little commotion is nothing. As long as it’s not as big as blowing up a mountain, it’s fine.”
“Is that so…”
Of course, there wouldn’t be a huge commotion.
Gong Yiling had already told Gong Muzhi that their goal wasn’t to alert the academy, so she wouldn’t do anything as drastic as splitting a mountain.
She would just rely on her superior cultivation to bully these people a bit.
“Since you have such a trump card, Young Master Yin, then I can’t fall behind.” Gong Yiling said seriously, “Rest assured, Young Master Yin, I’m not unprepared. They’re currently preoccupied and can’t escape the North Courtyard. Once your reinforcements arrive, even that Immortal Master will die a horrible death.”
“Good!”
Her words were like a powerful stimulant for Yin Wuzong. He quickly swallowed a pill and rushed towards the main hall.
