19. Gong Yiling’s Wrath
Unlike the previous “high five,” Gong Muzhi’s kick sent the uncle flying, shaking the very ground.
He didn’t even have time to scream as he was launched hundreds of meters away.
Trees toppled in his wake, followed by a deafening “boom!!!”
Good heavens.
If that kick had landed on his kidney, it would have been even more devastating than her attack on the giant python. She even started to worry that the uncle might have been crippled.
But before she could dwell on it, Gong Muzhi rushed over and hugged her tightly.
“My dear Ling’er, are you hurt?”
Gong Yiling calmly nodded. “Yes.”
“What!?” Gong Muzhi’s eyes blazed, her hair floating up. “I’ll cripple that bastard!”
“Mom, wait!” Gong Yiling chuckled wryly and stopped her. “The uncle is my lifesaver. And my injuries are my own doing.”
“Your own doing?”
Gong Muzhi froze, blinking in confusion. “Ling’er… you… you don’t have that… strange fetish, do you?”
Gong Yiling was dumbfounded. “Huh?”
“Well, Ling’er,” Gong Muzhi said with great concern, shaking her shoulders, “I don’t know why you have this fetish, but this world is still beautiful. I’ll go and slaughter everyone in Qian Yue Academy to make you happy.”
What the hell!?
How could her dearest mother say such a thing so calmly?
“What are you talking about, Mom!?” Gong Yiling, unable to break free, explained while being shaken, “It’s because I overused my cultivation technique. That’s why I’m like this.”
“What happened? Didn’t you say you’d find a reliable elder?”
“Well…”
Come to think of it, she had been a bit too reckless, not even bringing any of Chun Lian’s talismans.
Of course, the main reason was… she wanted to see if she could fight a cultivator above the Soul Origin realm with just her Daoist cultivation and Thousand Transformations technique.
Although in the end, it was a bit more than she bargained for. She had to use all her strength and even depleted the Mother Bug’s essence she had been saving.
Sigh… she wouldn’t have had to worry about finding spiritual energy to cultivate, but now she was back to square one. This was so…
“It’s a bit… complicated.” Miss Gong smiled sheepishly. “Anyway, it’s not what you think.”
Seeing her, Miss Gong rolled her eyes and quickly changed the subject. “Mom, let me show you something fun.”
Without even lifting a finger, the sword, still with some fish bones on it, flew up from the ground and circled around Gong Muzhi.
Gong Muzhi was stunned.
“This… is… Sword Control…”
Seeing this familiar technique, memories she had tried to bury resurfaced in her mind.
But Miss Gong didn’t notice her mother’s strange reaction.
She continued, “The uncle just taught me. Although my hands are still a bit weak, it’s no problem. I can even catch fish for you, and—”
Before she could finish, Gong Muzhi gripped her shoulders tightly, forcing her to swallow her words.
“Mom?”
Gong Yiling couldn’t see her mother’s expression, but she could feel… a suppressed emotion in her hands.
Like anger, like grievance, like many things she couldn’t understand.
“How could you…”
Just then, the uncle, who had been kicked somewhere, stumbled back.
He clutched his kidney, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, his face filled with rage.
As he walked, he frowned and said, “Who did that? Don’t you know not to kick a man in the kidney? If it’s broken, who’s responsible?”
Hearing this, Gong Yiling saw her mother calmly release her and turn to face the staggering uncle.
For some reason, she felt something was wrong with her mother.
Her mother now, to put it mildly, might just dismember this uncle.
But… Gong Yiling didn’t know why. She had just said this uncle was her lifesaver. Although her mother was reckless and ruthless, she was still a reasonable person.
What was… going on?
“You’re the one who taught her Sword Control?”
Gong Muzhi’s voice was cold and chilling, as if from the depths of an abyss, the temperature dropping several degrees.
“I am.” The uncle, sensing the danger, didn’t know why this woman was so angry.
“This girl has already mastered the Thousand Transformations technique. Sword Control is a high-level martial art, perfectly suited for her.”
“If you’re her relative, shouldn’t you be happy for her?”
“Happy?”
Gong Muzhi’s gaze turned even colder, so much so that she looked nothing like the seemingly cute woman from before.
Or perhaps, this was her true self?
At that moment, outside Qian Yue Academy, Ghost Lord Nine, still puzzled about what was happening, suddenly sensed something was wrong with Gong Muzhi.
The earth puppet was just a tool, normally only capable of channeling thirty to forty percent of the caster’s strength and converting their cultivation into earth-type spiritual energy.
But if the caster wanted to use their full power, it wasn’t impossible. It was just like forcing several times the normal amount of power into a body that couldn’t repair itself.
And that was what Gong Muzhi was doing now. Uncontrollable demonic energy and nascent soul power began to surge around her original body, a sign that the earth puppet could no longer contain her full power and was starting to channel the excess back.
If this continued, the earth puppet would crumble in a few minutes.
“Didn’t she say there was nothing else?”
Ghost Lord Nine, watching Gong Muzhi’s original body go into full operation, rubbed his forehead in confusion.
He had no good memories of this place. Surely this wasn’t about that man again?
