22. My Surveillance?
With the surveillance in place, there was probably nothing more to see. Miss Gong turned her attention to the other ghost.
This ghost had followed its target a much longer distance, all the way to a winding, deep alley.
When it emerged from the alley, this mobile surveillance unit found itself in front of a pagoda-like building.
This seemed to be a hidden entrance to the building, flanked by cliffs. You had to look up to see the building’s full form.
However, the location was revealed by a plaque on the back door.
It read:
“Lingxiao Pavilion.”
If it was the Lingxiao Pavilion, then her guess was probably correct.
This person was indeed sent by the Emperor to probe, or rather, to create a diversion…
And just as she was thinking this, she suddenly saw a silver-haired woman walk out.
Wait, was this person…?
“How is it?” Murong Yun asked calmly. “The poison, has she cured it?”
“Naturally, she has.” The person smiled and removed their disguise. His appearance was actually… Yuan Qin?
Yuan Qin and Murong Yun, she always felt their relationship was not simple, especially when Yan Chuyue told him about treating Murong Yun. His reaction was clearly not right.
“This poison is only recorded in that divine physician’s book. Even the famous physicians in the world may not have heard of it.”
“So it’s basically confirmed that he is the person you’re looking for.”
“I could have trusted my royal brother’s judgment.” Murong Yun’s lips curled into a faint smile. “But I don’t know what he’s thinking. There are some things I must confirm myself.”
“I don’t know what His Majesty is thinking either.” Yuan Qin smiled wryly. “Waging war, pointing his sword at the world. All the ancient kings who wanted to do this have never succeeded, but His Majesty doesn’t think so.”
“What else can he think?” Murong Yun sneered. “He just wants to write his name in the annals of history, to imitate those legendary ancient emperors, to leave behind the title of Martial Emperor after his death.”
“For this, a general’s success is built on ten thousand bones. No matter how much slaughter his aggression will cause, the worst-case scenario is that he might even personally destroy the dynasty he created.”
Yuan Qin’s face changed drastically. “Your Highness, you must not speak of such things.”
“He wants to kill me and save me at the same time. Why should I care what he does to me?” Murong Yun chuckled. “But you, if he knew that his most trusted Lingxiao Pavilion was actually my person, your fate would not be good.”
“If I feared this, I would not be standing here talking to Your Highness.” Yuan Qin said seriously, “Please rest assured, Your Highness. I will always be your pawn.”
Murong Yun raised an eyebrow and suddenly said with a mysterious smile, “Yuan Qin, you know I’m not talking about this.”
As she spoke, she reached out and touched his neck.
But just then, Murong Yun’s expression changed slightly.
At the same time, the ghost Gong Yiling was controlling seemed to feel a deep-seated fear.
This was… did she see it?
This ghostly body was so strange and unpredictable. Could this princess actually sense it?
It was true.
This princess, as if she had seen a ghost, roared at Gong Yiling’s ghost.
“A lonely ghost, this is not a place for you.”
As she finished speaking, she just gently flicked her sleeve, and a powerful wave of qi erupted.
This wave of qi was not an ordinary spiritual energy. It could actually affect the ghost puppet she was controlling.
Under the influence of this power, the ghost puppet gradually dissipated, and Gong Yiling’s consciousness was forced back into her own body.
“Phew… hah… phew!”
Miss Gong, who had been forcefully returned, felt a sense of disconnect between her soul and body. She was dizzy for a while, and the system’s kind reminder came to her ears.
“Alert, due to the host encountering a countermeasure during the technique, the host’s Ghost Value has increased by 3 points.”
What the hell?
Gong Yiling almost spat out a mouthful of blood.
This could even increase her Ghost Value? Fortunately, it was only three points. If it were more, it would be a huge loss.
It seemed she couldn’t use this ability too often in the future, or she would be walking further and further down the path of a ghost.
“What’s wrong?”
Yan Chuyue, still feasting, looked up and asked, puzzled. “Weren’t you watching the mobile surveillance?”
“The surveillance was smashed.” Gong Yiling, after taking a deep breath, muttered, “I’m speechless. Who smashes surveillance these days?”
“Your underworld surveillance can be smashed?”
Miss Gong nodded. “If I told you who smashed it, you’d be shocked.”
“Shocked?” Yan Chuyue, hearing this, was intrigued. “Tell me, I don’t know what could shock me.”
“Don’t be in a hurry.” Gong Yiling first told Yan Chuyue about the contents of one of the surveillance cameras.
Although Yan Chuyue herself was not a physician who had received special training, this disregard for human life still made her frown.
“Just to make things difficult for me, they put people in such a state.” Yan Chuyue couldn’t help but sneer. “If I couldn’t cure them, wouldn’t a few lives be sacrificed in vain?”
“That’s how capitalists are. Don’t you understand that?”
It was impossible not to understand. After all, before, they were all glorious successors of socialism. Even if they hadn’t eaten pork, they had seen pigs run. They knew what these people would do for profit.
However, the more Gong Yiling introduced these other people, the more curious Yan Chuyue became about who had smashed her surveillance.
The other pharmaceutical companies had already appeared in the narrative. The only remaining candidate was the royal family they had initially suspected.
In this Murong royal family… the person who would shock her…
Thinking of this, Yan Chuyue suddenly thought of a possibility and couldn’t help but ask before Gong Yiling revealed the answer.
“The one who smashed your surveillance, it wasn’t that princess, was it?”
And just as she asked this question, Miss Gong couldn’t help but be taken aback.
She wasn’t surprised that Yan Chuyue would know the answer. After all, her hints were quite obvious.
Mainly because at about the same time, the system had given her a second visit to the palace today.
“Alert, the host has automatically received the quest [Crossroads]. This quest requires the host to choose a quest objective. Different quest objectives will grant different information. For details, please check the quest details.”
