Volume 1: Bard’s Bow
Hot sweat dripped down bead by bead, her body felt a wave of heat, and Amelia slightly opened her small mouth, panting.
She tried in the bedroom, in the wardrobe, under the bed, in the washroom, in the dining room, in deserted corners, and also on the crowded main avenue. She ran until her head was covered in sweat, yet she simply could not find a way to escape.
It had been an hour since she transmigrated. Amelia knew the situation she faced was urgent, so urgent that she had no time to even ponder the fact that she had actually transmigrated.
The sky was gloomy. The dense, overcast clouds were like an inverted ocean, bringing oppressive pressure down upon everyone.
There was no sunlight, yet the air remained hot. The ground radiated a heat that made it unbearable to touch with bare skin.
Booming sounds echoed from afar from time to time, causing the barrier enveloping the castle to tremble. It was unclear how much longer it could hold.
The expressions on everyone’s faces within the castle were extremely serious, and their gazes were filled with distraction—rather than fight a desperate, futile battle for this kingdom on the verge of collapse, it was better to think about how to save themselves.
The Steele Kingdom was finished.
A few months ago, for some laughable reasons, the Steele Kingdom was attacked from three sides by the surrounding Three Kingdoms. It did not hold out for long before suffering defeat, followed by the loss of vast expanses of territory.
Now, the Three Kingdoms Allied Forces had already reached the Royal Capital and surrounded the castle. The outcome was no longer in suspense.
Even King Lionel Steele had passed the throne to his only remaining daughter, Amelia Steele, precisely because he knew the outcome of the kingdom’s fall could not be changed—he did not want to be the king who lost the nation.
After passing the throne to Amelia, Lionel chose to hang himself, ending his own life.
The Royal Family now only had Amelia left.
“What to do? What to do?”
Amelia returned to her lavishly decorated bedroom and paced back and forth, unable to calm down.
As she walked, her light golden, wavy hair swayed with her movements. A pair of water-blue eyes were filled with panic.
If the Three Kingdoms Allied Forces fought their way into the castle, she, as the Queen, would absolutely not meet a good end. Her splendid clothes would be torn to shreds, lash marks would be fiercely whipped onto her fair skin, and a large number of bruises would appear. No one would show her any pity. What awaited her would certainly be a nightmarish scene.
That was absolutely not the outcome she wanted!
“Your Majesty Amelia.”
At that moment, a voice came from the doorway.
Amelia turned her head to look. The person who arrived was her Head Maid, Molly Daniels, a woman already in her forties with her brown hair pinned up, a very serious expression, and someone usually very responsible.
After recalling the information about the Head Maid from the original owner’s memories, Amelia asked, “Molly, is there something you need?”
Now that the Steele Kingdom was on the verge of destruction, Molly had not secretly packed her bags and tried to flee like everyone else, but still remained by her side. This gave Amelia a feeling of warmth inside.
Unfortunately, even though she was a Transmigrator, she was completely powerless to change the current situation.
“Your Majesty, since things have come to this, why don’t we escape through the secret passage?” Molly suggested.
“Secret passage?” Amelia’s eyes lit up.
In the original owner’s memories, she had absolutely no information about a secret passage.
This was not surprising, though. The original owner was already a relatively marginalized figure in the Royal Family.
Furthermore, before the war started, the original owner had been living outside. She was only summoned back because the war began. It was normal for her not to know about the secret passage in the castle.
“Your Majesty is unaware of the secret passage? But it doesn’t matter, I can lead the way for Your Majesty. However, the secret passage is quite long, and it isn’t exactly hidden well. Your Majesty will need to order the Royal Guard to hold off everyone else, buying us time to escape through the secret passage.” Molly looked entirely like she was wholeheartedly thinking of Amelia’s best interests.
【Here it comes, the classic opening.】
【”Vengeance of the Fallen Kingdom’s Sword Saint” is brilliant no matter how many times I watch it, even if it is a tragic ending.】
【Second watch, this time I’m only watching the first half.】
【This character is Queen Amelia, the one who dies right at the start, right? Hurry up and die, we want to see the Sword Saint Eileen.】
【Who would have thought that Eileen, an ordinary member of the Royal Capital’s Royal Guard, would eventually grow into a Sword Saint of a generation?】
【Although Eileen hasn’t fully grown up yet, her actual strength is still very strong, she’s just usually low-key. If Amelia chooses to stay with Eileen, she actually has a chance to survive.】
【This Molly is the one who colluded with the Beren Kingdom, right? That plot segment where Eileen kills her during her future revenge quest, it feels so satisfying every single time I watch it.】
Amelia was pondering Molly’s words, but at that moment, lines of text floated before her eyes, causing her to blink involuntarily.
Wh-what is this?
Amelia focused and looked, her expression slowly changing.
As a Transmigrator, she was naturally not unfamiliar with something like bullet comments, but how could bullet comments appear before her eyes?
Could it be that the world she was in was an anime?
Judging from the bullet comments, the protagonist of this anime was an ordinary member of the Royal Guard named Eileen?
And she was the Queen who dies right at the start?
Amelia felt a bit panicked. No one could remain calm upon learning they were about to die soon. She had to change this outcome!
“Your Majesty?” Molly looked at the dazed Amelia strangely and advised, “I know Your Majesty cannot bear to ask the Guards to risk their lives to buy us time, but all of this is for the sake of the Steele Kingdom’s bloodline. Even knowing this outcome, they would accept it. The people of the Royal Guard have never given up on their honor.”
Hearing Molly’s words, Amelia snapped back to reality.
Judging from the bullet comments, this Molly seemed to have some problems.
Outwardly, Amelia maintained a calm expression and asked, “Molly, go and call everyone from the Royal Guard here. Don’t miss a single person.”
The castle currently had a barrier, which was why it could temporarily withstand the Three Kingdoms Allied Forces’ attacks. There was no need for the Royal Guard to engage the enemy yet, but the barrier could no longer hold for much longer.
“Is Your Majesty going to boost morale at the last moment? I will go call them right away. It is their honor to hear Your Majesty’s encouragement.”
Molly did not overthink it and turned to leave.
【Boost morale? Was this plot segment here before? I remember Amelia previously just directly ran off with Molly, didn’t she?】
【Did the Development Team think the previous portrayal of Amelia was too cold, so they slightly modified it?】
【Modifying the beginning of a finished anime that no one criticized? Is there a need for that?】
【Anyway, Eileen is coming. Eileen, my wife.】
【As long as I can see Eileen, everything else is irrelevant.】
【Eileen, I will always like you!】
Amelia silently watched the bullet comments.
Not long after, the members of the Royal Guard arrived one after another in the open space outside the building, and Amelia also walked over.
